Ric Flair cuts a promo on Hulk Hogan

Here’s a promo from Ric Flair to promote his series of matches against Hulk Hogan on the upcoming Hulkamania Australian tour. I find it kind of sad.

Kevin , remember the name Randy "The Ram" Robinson . 'Nuff said .
Anyone who saw "The Wrestler" gets my drift .
And yes Kevin , come to think of it , it is rather sad .

Flair must be desperate for money, way to go nature boy completety discredit that match with shawn micheals and the farewell party, to be honest even if he didnt have money problems he still would have come out of retirment the man just cant let go , your right it is sad.

Note to guys 40 and older:

No one does the "If your (spouse or girlfriend) wants to be with a real man..." schtick anymore. I'm guessing it hasn't been done since, well whenever it was a manly thing to do. If you do that today in real life, you're going to get laughed at, and hopefully the guy & girl are good enough kids and help you find your car in the parking lot after.

I was going to write something witty about this video, but the fact that Flair has to do a promo involving the idea of sleeping with Hogan's girlfriend and ex-wife just made me sad.
I was fine with him doing the indy appearances, or as I like to call it, "The Ric Flair Appreciation Tour." and I was even lenient when he got back on TV and challenged Jericho to a street fight and attempted to fight Legacy. However, this is to much.

This makes me so sad, I don't even know if I'll be able to "wooo" at shows anymore....well, maybe not that much.

Truly Ric....you "reek".

Wow I could smell the ben gay right through the monitor.

@MechanicalBull - that line still works !!!! .... just ask Kevin . LOL!

i'm not sure Ric should be talking about other people's ex's.
isn't his ex the reason that he's wrestling again?

Wow, even Rick' woooo'er sounded a little rusty.

This will not be an Ultimate X match I assume.

The man likes to wrestle, and this is is craft, and we watched him for 25+ years doing what he does best. Sad? He loves it; he wants to do it; he's getting paid. The retirement match was an angle. If it's on TV, it's an angle. If you're sad, send him a check. You're entitled to your feelings, but if he didn't want to do it, then he wouldn't be doing it.

WOOOOO!

It's Flair VS. Hogan baby! Oh yeah brother! Ah... It's like 1991 all over again... The plus side is is that Flair seems to be bringing sexy back to Australia... How lucky for them...

really sad... deconstructing his own legend... doesn't he have pride?
the Wooo! didn't make me want to wooo along at all...

Does it seem like maybe his dentures aren't as secure as they should be?

I agree with everyone who said this video is sad, if by "sad" you mean "the greatest one minute and fifty-eight seconds of non-stop hilarity to ever grace the internet, and perhaps the most significant piece of unintentional comedy genius since man first slipped on a banana peel."

I suppose might find it sad if I could stop laughing.

HORRIBLE. Do you think there will be any video after the matches?

To me, Flair's legacy has already been secured. Him having horrible matches on this tour does not take away any of the following great memories of him that I have:

* Flair vs Steamboat
* Flair vs Funk
* Flair vs Rhodes
* Flair vs Sting
* The entire Four Horsemen era.
* Flair vs Von Erich
* Flair vs Savage

Maybe I'm alone here, but I still think Flair cuts an entertaining promo. That being said, there's no way that I would watch any match between Flair and Hogan. Hell, I didn't want to watch that twenty years ago!

I don't mind Flair doing these indy matches in other countries, I just hope that he doesn't wrestle for any top promotion again. The Flair-HBK match was one of those rare "special" moments that even get us old marks wiping a tear away, I don't want that moment to be ruined.

RESPONSE FROM KE: I was one of those old marks in Orlando wiping away a tear. So for me personally, the moment Flair puts on a pair of tights and steps into a ring anywhere, that moment is ruined.

I am not sure sad is the proper term, fake would be better. Flair overbid there and the result was lacking any real emotion, is just like he was reading it all.
On another note indeed there is something wrong with his dentures, let's hope he wont search it in the ring or even swap it with Hogan's dentures in the middle of the match as a fair play gesture.

Weird. Disgusting. Upsetting. Disgraceful. Travesty. Heart breaking. Confusing. Mediocre. Redundant. Immoral. Unnatural. Wasteful. These are just a few of the words that describe this promo.

Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair should hype this match on "Tosh.0." At least people would see it then!

(Pssst Kev, "Tosh.0" is a show on Comedy Central where a smart-ass comedian named Daniel Tosh mocks the crappy yet popular YouTube videos.)

RESPONSE FROM KE: Thanks. You saved me from having to ask.

I don't mind Flair doing what he's doing. It's his life. Imagine someone telling you that you should stop something you love to do because they think you shouldn't do it anymore; how would you respond to that? And yes, the WWE sendoff last year was magical, but Flair has said on more than one occasion that it necessarily wasn't his choice to go out that way (or even at all).

By my estimation, Flair has bled more than the blood that is running through both your body and mine combined. Say what you want about his remaining wrestling ability (however little there is), but he's still a compelling figure in the wrestling world, and he's got to pay the bills just like the rest of us.

At the end of the day, you don't have to watch or pay attention. Let the man live his life the way he wants.

Sad? I'm an old mark for flair and loved the story he and hkb told, but to critisize a man that wants to do what he does is ridicules. Who are we as fans to want to control a mans profession. This is similar to the farve scenario. Farve can still perform at a high level as can flair. It's entertainment people. let flair perform infront of people that may have never seen one of the greatest of all time. And that promo was better than 3/4 the wwe roster

I gotta be honest, I do not care if people think Hogan or Flair can still "go". I would not want to watch a 56 year old man wrestle a 60 year old man. I just find it interesting that over the past few months people have been complaining about the inability to build new stars, yet people still want to see guys like Hulk, Flair, etc.

i just don't think they are doing it because they love it like so many people are claiming. Which makes it all the more sad.

For 30 seconds or so I thought "vintage Ric." Then it became "awkward Ric."

It's funny that it looks like the old Nitro logo.

You know what else is sad? Randy "Macho Man" Savage still cutting promos in his gym about how he wants to beat up Hogan, then flexing the way he used to in the old days with his other hand pushing up his biceps muscle.

It is out there on Youtube if you look around for it.

Is the TNA gonna be the geriatric get-a-long gang?

Oh dear

Kev, for me I guess it's an "out of sight, out of mind" situation.

Flair showed more enthusiasm in that promo than he did with those completely lifeless "wooos" he gave in ROH, as if being in the old bingo hall was a huge disgrace. Silken totally wasted his money.

Thanks for the video. Not saying this was good or bad. I'm indifferent. I am wondering if he will show any enthusiasm in TNA (you know he will show up).

This is terrible. Just ask Hogan's girlfriend. Ask his ex-wife.

This reminded me of one of the pathetic "promos" you could watch on the old WCW Thunder game. What's next, is Rick Steiner gonna bark like a dog again?

lol @ "swapping dentures for fair play" and "won't be an Ultimate X match I assume."

Usually I agree with Kevin, but in this case, come on. Of course Flair's going to do his thing. How surprised can anyone be?

The promo isn't sad, it's only the same as it ever was (but a little balder). Promising to show Australia what a real man looks like is what Flair does!

This is good old NWA throwback stuff. Australia has been STARVED for the sight of a REAL MAN! Space Mountain may not be the newest ride, but it's got the looongest line! Whooo!

As long as it's outside the WWE, his "retirement" is intact to me. I was more disconcerted by his street fight with Orton than I am by this.

"And that promo was better than 3/4 the wwe roster."

Unfortunately, it wasn't better than 3/4 of Flair's promos.
