Quick hits on WWE Superstars

• A match between two solid veterans who haven’t been in the ring against each other very often (at least not in recent years) highlighted Thursday’s episode of WWE Superstars, as Chris Jericho defeated Finlay in a hard-hitting, entertaining main event. It’s funny how Jericho never loses now that he is going to be in one of the main events at the Survivor Series pay-per-view on Nov. 22, but before that he was jobbing to JTG, Kofi Kingston, Christian and Rey Mysterio.

• Speaking of entertaining matches, I thought the Santino Marella-Chavo Guerrero match was fun. Having Guerrero around means that Marella actually has an opponent that he can beat.

• Jack Swagger looked impressive in his win over Primo. Perhaps he took Jim Ross’ advice to heart. In a recent interview with me, Ross, when discussing Swagger, said: “Every time he gets an outing, whether it’s in the middle of Raw, or the end of Raw, or the beginning of Raw, or on Superstars, or wherever it is, he has to go out and play like it’s the NCAA finals.”

• I think Swagger’s winning streak will end up doing more for his career than MVP’s losing streak did for his.

• Did Michael Cole actually say that Swagger and Primo have “developed quite a rivalry?” Yeah, it’s just like the rivalry between The Harlem Globetrotters and Washington Generals.

• Paul Burchill got a nice decisive victory over Tyler Reks. Reks was busted open hardway, which I believe was the result of a head butt. In keeping with WWE’s no-blood policy, a close-up was never shown and it was only mentioned in passing.

Mentioning the no-blood policy..the most exciting thing I've seen of recent, was Cena bleeding at Bragging Rights. Just when you love the WWE....CLANG....you get shocked with Cena's head busted WIDE OPEN. Brought me back to Big Time Wrestling, with Hank Renner when after many head slams into the post, Ray Stevens and Paul DeMarco buted each others heads WIDE OPEN. Which means, I've been watching Wrestling for 38 years! OH, I'm a FAN!!

Jericho winning his match does not have the same effect as it used to.

Anyone notice how Swagger in looking in better shape pyhsically these days?

I thought Reks had been busted open, but was watching on a 19" television. The fact that they didn't show him close-up confirmed my suspicion.

Have you noticed that Primo Colon has white boots with red trim at the bottom that makes it look like he's wrestling in socks and RUBY SLIPPERS?!

Kinda funny. Very disturbing.

Kevin,

Did it bother you at all that Jericho barely survived against Finlay, whereas Drew McIntyre destroyed Finlay and the match never even took place? I know they are giving Drew a push, but it indirectly makes Jericho look bad. Does this mean that next week on Superstars Jericho will have a mat classic with Jimmy Wang Yang?

I really don"t see why the Undertaker has to wrestle Chris Jerihco before Surviors Series, even though he might have asked for it,he has nothing to prove to jerihco. He will never be the man that the undertaker is.

Question: At this point, do you see Chris Jericho as the frontrunner to challenge Undertaker at WM 26??

RESPONSE FROM KE: I don't think so.
