Quick hits on ECW
• To the surprise of no one, Christian and William Regal – two masters at telling a story in the ring – put on a heck of a match on Tuesday night’s episode of ECW. While I really wouldn’t have minded if Regal had won the ECW championship match, I think it was the right call to keep the belt on Christian, whose second reign as champion began in July. A guy of Christian’s caliber holding the title for an extended period certainly adds to the prestige of the championship. The other positive thing about having Christian as champion is that he has the ability to have good matches with various types of wrestlers and always makes his opponent look like a million bucks.
• The look of disdain on Regal’s face when he walked away after a backstage conversation with ECW general manager Tiffany was tremendous. The huge smile on her face after he left wasn’t bad, either.
• I was confused when Goldust came out to face Paul Burchill, as I was expecting to see the blowoff match to the Burchill-Hurricane program. Apparently, that match is taking place on next week’s show. My bad. I must have been distracted by the oddly mesmerizing Katie Lea.
• I was disappointed with The Abraham Washington Show this week. I just didn’t find the interaction between Washington and Yoshi Tatsu very funny.
• Perhaps I’m in the minority, but I like the dream sequences with Zack Ryder and Rosa Mendes. What’s wrong with a little campy humor on a wrestling show?

I couldn't agree more. I was only watching this week's show half heartedly, but as soon as I saw Ryder and Mendes backstage, I stopped to see what this week's dream would be.

I guess the cameras are so good they can read people's minds. No, there's no point constantly screaming to the audience that it's all fake by showing that crap with Ryder.

it is really ashame that Cristian & Regal were not allowed to have this type of match at any of the PPV's because it could have probably stole the show and it also shows how for years Regal has been mismanaged i was hoping that he we have won the title because i think Christian has beaten everyone in ECW now so where is their for him to go but to continue on with this feud until Regal wins I guess but overall it is 1 of the Best TV matches I have seen in a long time. I was glad to see Goldust win the battle of jobbers even though it doesn't make much sense to me bwecause you should give Burchill some momentum going into his match next week. and Finally was very surprised that the UK wrestlers went 0-3 Tuesday.

I would go as far as saying that this week's Christian/Regal ECW title match was one of the best matches I have seen this year...great spots, great near falls, some very hard bumps...somehow the show with the least amount of tv time has been consistently putting out the best matches...except of course for the squash matches - though Lance "Vance Archer" Hoyt looked better this week, and he did get some good heat from the British fans...and if Raw can subject us to the legal ramblings of DX and Hornswoggle, then a little Saved By the Bell-esque daydreaming is certainly allowed, and in my opinion, much funnier

I will be interested to see how reader response is to the campy dream sequence with Zack Ryder and Rose Mendes. It was so lame that I was watching it, laughing, saying "this is so bad, this is so bad," and yet it was the most sincere smile I've had on my face all week. Now, THAT'S what entertainment is! When it makes you smile and it feels good, you cannot really ask for me.
Unfortunately, I think the fact that it was so unexpected was 90% of the appeal. If I expected dream sequences every week, which is my guess where this is going, then it's going to be a highlight for 3 more weeks and then a point of pain to watch. But maybe I'm wrong.
Incidentally, I was so surprised that Christian retained when I read the spoilers that I watched the show just to make sure the spoilers were correct. I'm glad my distrusting nature allowed me to enjoy that match!

ECW is the WWE show to watch if you are tired of the same old same old that goes on with Raw and also Smackdown to a somewhat lesser extent each week.

Yet again, and in spite of missteps, ECW is the most compelling show dub dub E puts out.
Katie Lea IS mesmerizing, and the bout between Christian and Regal was ____ing tremendous. I was on the edge of my seat; I haven't been drawn that deeply into a match for quite some time. I'm disappointed at the result, but not at ALL by the match itself (though how sweet would it have been to see it end with the Regalplex!?)
Jury's still out on Vance... and why is that xtreme non-entity Taylor Reks now in the show's opening graphics sequence?

I like the Zack Ryder segments too, but I wish he'd get used in the ring more. Wasn't he hyped up a few weeks ago to be facing Regal? Whatever happened to that?
I really like Ryder's work this year. I hope he gets moved to Smackdown or RAW and gets a chance to show what he can do.
Also, I think the reason the Burchell-Helms match was scrapped was because in house shows over in Europe Burchill was getting zero reaction from what should be his home crowd.

Maybe, and Regal was certainly made to look good. Makes up for Christian beating him in eight seconds earlier in the year. As a result of this, whoever does finally beat Christian for the belt is going to look even better. Still, repeatedly challenging for a title and losing isn't very good for a guy's credibility. Take Ziggler. If he doesn't beat Morrison, how bad is he gonna look at that point?

Uh oh, look out dancing pecs! You've got real competition if the Burchills move to Raw!

Hi Kevin, ive always enjoyed Christians work. Do you believe he will ever hold one of the 2 main championships? He always has good matches, and seems over as a heel or babyface. I think they dropped the ball letting him leave last time, although in the long run i hope it did Christian good to get experience in a different environment. A future programme with edge seems like money and a no brainer for me...your thoughts???
RESPONSE FROM KE: I have no doubt Christian will eventually move to Raw or Smackdown and I do believe he will do a program with Edge. I'd be surprised, though, if he won one of the two big belts.

What ever happened to Kizarny?
WWE took all the time cutting all those promos and I think I saw him in about 2 matches, a couple of back stage skits, and then ???
Thought he was supposed to be a good "worker" type who could help get the younger guys over in their matches?
I like Christian too and it is a shame that the WWE is in flux right now and wouldn't really have much of a spot for him in the mix of things. I don't think Christian fits as a WWE/Heavyweight champ at all, the Intercontinental/US champion seems to be where the young up and comers get their names made, so that only leaves tag teams.
Tag team division is so void of talent that they have to bring back DX and team Jericho up with Big Show, and one tag team holds both the belts?
DIdn't Vince McMahon have some kind of issue with the named tag teams and this is why he basically killed the concept. I remember the hey day when there were the Killer Bees, the LOD, Demolition, the Nasty Boyz, the Hardy boys, etc.

ECW is interesting as RAW and smack down.In that all wwe super star take part and fight against with their opponent's.I like most matches in this is cage matches.Because we can show true fight in cage with no any other players interruption.

It could be a good sign for Vance Archer that the announcers haven't described him as making an "impact."
