Jim Ross suffers Bell’s Palsy attack
Jim Ross wrote on his blog that he suffered a Bell’s Palsy attack Monday night while on a flight from Oklahoma City to Atlanta.
This is Ross’ third attack of Bell’s Palsy – a paralysis of the facial nerve that causes an inability to control facial muscles on the affected side – in the past 11 years.
Ross said that he will not work at the Smackdown tapings tonight and may have to miss the Bragging Rights pay-per-view on Sunday.
“Life is about facing the challenges we encounter, so I am going to do all I can to get better and back at the announce desk ASAP,” he wrote. “I wish I had more answers but I simply don't at this time.”
Here’s hoping that Ross gets better soon.

Very insensitive, but does anyone remember when a wrestler (I think Stone Cold) was imitating Jim Ross' condition on Raw years back when it first happened to him??? I thought Ross was going to just leave the company after that episode...
I can't find a clip of that. Any help?
RESPONSE FROM KE: In WCW, Ed Ferrara did a Jim Ross parody, calling himself Oklahoma.

Hope he recovers quickly. One of my bosses in radio had a Bell's palsy attack one time - it sounded like he had had a stroke when he was on-air for a while.

To put it lightly, Jim Ross is the epitome of a trooper .

I remember Oklahoma . ( and the Alamo ,... I digress ) . While his take on Ross may not be the most tasteless thing I've seen in wrestling , it ranks right up there . Not just as it related to Ross , he's in the business and it comes with the territory , but to anyone suffering from palsy.

Too bad. I was hoping for a King-JR commentary reunion. Oh well. Hope JR recovers well.

Hope he makes a quick and full recovery.
Also hope that this does not affect his negotiations with the company on a new contract. Seeing Ross have to miss shows (and potentially a pay per view) might cause a knee jerk reaction from management during negotiations.

I hope Jim consults a good chiropractor. We get great results with Bell's Palsy because of the neurological connection to the spine. I'd adjust him myself, but Australia is a little far from Oklahoma. Jim, hope you read this! Go to a chiropractor!

Are you still going to post the 2nd part of that Q&A with Jim Ross?
RESPONSE FROM KE: Yes. I promise. Transcribing tape is very time-consuming, but I will get to it.

Get well JR! When he first joined WWF in 1993 I didn't like him because I was used to McMahon, Moonson, Heenan, and Ventura. It seemed like there were a lot of changes then for the announce team. Macho, Ross, Lawler, Perfect, etc. all had stints announcing. JR has stood the test of time and has always been the epidemy of a professional and so very knowledgeable. When McMahon did the stupid skit when JR had a problem with his colon I wanted to reach through the screen and kill Vince. I couldn't believe a CEO could treat their best employee like that. JR took it and did his job. He's always been the better man.

that's too bad that this has come back for Ross. I think he needs to slow down and retire....or atleast do part time stuff. I think his time has come as an annoucer, especially when you put him with a younger guy like Todd.

I had Bell's palsy in 1985. You can barely see the affects of it now. I massage my face on the affected side. I try to load up on Omega 3 to help the affected nerve. Avoiding stress helps reoccurances. Take care of yourself.

I would hope that Vince McMahon Jr and his overpaid underworked writers do NOT have a story line of McMahon humiliating Jim Ross AGAIN because of the Bell's Palsy attack like he did a few years ago. The original story line was cruel enough. Who knows how much sicker some of the minds at the WWE compound in Stamford could be.
