Quick hits on WWE Superstars
• With his win over David Hart Smith on Thursday’s show, John Morrison again showed that he has become one of the most consistently spectacular workers in the business. Smith also made a very good accounting of himself.
• Carlito pinning U.S. champion Kofi Kingston in a mixed tag match was a surprise. I assume that means there will be a title program between these two. When Carlito is motivated, as he appeared to be in this match, he’s pretty good, so a series of matches between him and Kingston would most likely be entertaining.
• I like Carlito’s new look since turning heel again. He’s definitely more menacing with his afro matted down and hanging in his eyes and his all-black ring attire.
• Goldust and Sheamus had a really good match. I was happy to see Goldust win one after losing to Sheamus in their previous two meetings. Goldust was brought back to WWE to be a glorified enhancement guy, but he is showing that he is capable of more. He has gotten himself in good shape and the fans have rallied behind him. The fact that he got a win over an up-and-comer such as Sheamus suggests that someone in WWE has noticed. When Goldust first returned to the company, I’ll bet that no one in the office or even Goldust himself expected him to get over as much as he has.

I am surprised that the fans have rallied behind him, and doubly surprised that I am one such fan! As a weekly ECW watcher, I was not pleased when Goldust was drafted to Tuesday nights, but he hasn't embarrassed himself in the ring. I watched the closing moments of his Superstars match on wwe.com, and from what little I saw, I agree: it was really good!

Once again, great commentary Kevin! I was not intent on watching Superstars this week, but your description of the Goldust/Sheamus match-up made me want to check it out, and indeed, the match was just as good as you described.
I was especially happy with the ring psychology, and the way they carried the story over from previous weeks. Makes their matches seem worthwhile, and I'm really glad neither are being needlessly jobbed. Little things like Goldust avoiding Sheamus' sweep off the second rope this time around made for great watching.
Also agree on Carlito's look, it works great. There was some newfound intensity in the ring on his behalf as well. Going to be a good series of matches with Kofi.

I had always said that it would be near impossible for Dustin to shed the Goldust gimmic to once again be taken seriously as a wretler, but now I see a glimmer of hope that he can be viewed as something more.
I have witnessed this man work a couple of 4 star matches in years past, so I always knew his capabilities were there.
It's great that WWE is allowing him to incorporate his true wrestling ability, and hopefully it will lead to bigger and better things.
