The Jeff Jarrett-Kurt Angle situation
When it comes to the personal lives of pro wrestling personalities, especially as it relates to who is sleeping with whom, my general policy is to not write about it. However, if it has a direct effect on the business, I think it is appropriate to address it.
Such is the case with the Jeff Jarrett-Kurt Angle soap opera that has been a hot topic on the Internet. For those who are not aware, a person who distorted their voice called into the Bubba the Love Sponge radio show last week and claimed that Angle’s former wife, Karen, and Jarrett are a couple, and that she and her kids have moved in with him.
The plot thickened Sunday night when Jarrett was not backstage at TNA’s Victory Road pay-per-view. TNA employees were told at a company meeting last week that Jarrett was taking some time off for personal reasons, according to pwinsider.com. Wrestlingobserver.com reported that TNA president Dixie Carter made the call to send Jarrett home. The Web site also stated that Kurt Angle has said that he will not re-sign with TNA if Jarrett is in power on the creative side.
Obviously, this would have huge ramifications for TNA. Jarrett, who founded the company along with his father, Jerry, has been the decision-maker in regard to TNA’s creative direction from the beginning.
However, seeing as this is wrestling – and especially considering that it’s TNA and Vince Russo we’re talking about – I don’t take anything at face value. I’m not necessarily a conspiracy theorist, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if this is all an elaborate work to build for another Jarrett-Angle feud. If it isn’t an angle, I’m willing to bet that TNA would make an angle out of it, just as WWE did with the Edge-Lita-Matt Hardy triangle.

The way this has gone down has been all too convenient for me to believe it's genuine.
The clincher for me was the latest leak that Angle wants to take the booking power off Jarrett which, given Angle's long known desire to retire and focus on movies, makes little sense.
We all know that the best angles are those where there is real life heat, so i'm betting that this is another elaborate Russo work aimed at tricking the marks.
I hope i'm right, too, because if it's all true TNA's future will be in grave doubt.

It'd be a new low if they did make an angle out of it. It'd probably be complete with his kids turning on him in the Impact Zone and joining the MEM.
Overall though it's pretty sad to see a guy spiral like that after losing his wife.

I had the same thought that it could be a huge work, but then I thought: "what's the point if the only resulting matches will be Kurt Angle-Jeff Jarrett? Again!"

Hey Kevin, just wondering when we could get your thoughts on Victory Road. I thought it was pretty good, but the ending to the last match was slightly dissapointing. I was expecting more. At leats TNA lets the face tap out unlike WWE. With Jarret out and Lashley joining MEM, don't they need another serious face or two?

Kurt has admitted to sleeping with tons of women while he and Karen were married. Now that they are divorcing, it shouldn't concern him who Karen is living with.
Dixie should be worried about other things, like why her company's booking has completely fallen off a cliff lately. Anytime you have a chance to book Jenna Morasca vs. Booker's wife in one of the worst matches in wrestling history, instead of a single X division match on PPV you really don't need to do it.

Sad situation when this has to mess up TNA. Didnt Kurt cheat on Karen? Then who cares? I just feel that TNA without Jeff Jarrett is like ECW without Paul Heyman... just not right.

I read another story about this online today...though you can never say you should bring up a man's wife that has passed away, this would seem to put a differnt spin on all of those comments Angle had to say about Jarrett's wife earlier this year.
All that said, any comments/thoughts about what happened on TNA's ppv this weekend? Haven't heard anything about it yet...

I like "Ring Posts" as much as the next guy, but I'm a bit mystified at the fervor for somebody to write-up a PPV that he clearly didn't watch, particularly where he doesn't seem to watch many of TNA's. This is probably the best (and my favorite) wrestling blog, but there are others.

Victory Road was probably the worst wrestling PPV I've seen in my life. They practically gave away the results at the beginning of the show. (Like you didn't know who would win anyway.) And the Jenna vs. Sharmell match was bar none the worst thing I've ever seen take place in a ring EVER. It's too bad the crowd didn't do the right thing and boo them out of the building. All those talented guys on the TNA roster that didn't get on the PPV so that abortion of a match could take place that no one gives two you know whats about!
And yes, I am a huge TNA fan but this past PPV was beyond disappointing.

I have to agree with Mr. Sarcasm, if this is just gonna set up more Jarrett/Angle matches, who cares? Concentrate on elevating younger stars, not wasting so much on crap (i.e Jenna/Sharmell)and putting on the best quality matches that you can. All this is nonsense.
Unless it's legit and Kurt Angle breaks Jarrett's ankle for real on Impact! That might spike the ratings!

I think the Angle - Jarrett situation is just TNA"s plan to spike the ratings. Now Im reading that Angle knew they were living together and it was Jeff's choice to take time off not Dixies. I would say this could be the next Edge/Matt Hardy/Lita feud but wuth Jarrett"s position I'll say its the next Dan McDevitt /Kim McDevitt/ Zachary Shane feud

To be clear: the caller didn't distort his voice, as that was done by Bubba. He puts callers, upon request, "on protection" where their voice is distorted , which is why the voice was scrambled.

a TNA match will never get booed at "The Impact Zone" cause I'm sure 70% of the audience is made up of friends or family of TNA employees. I think I heard a "Let's go Hoyt" chant once.

This is the setup for some bizarre Hogan intro...........the guys whos wives have screwed them and now they're bitter. Hogan is just gonna start popping up with no rhyme or reason....being buddies with guys in the back, and then inexplicably punching them in the face. Then before you know it.....Angle is his buddy.

I have a hard time believing that Dixie Carter ordered JJ to take time off. There is no law against sleeping with your co-workers ex-wife. It's not very classy but it's not illegal.

Kevin Eck hands down best wrestling writer ever...just found your blog last week; been watching wrestling since 10 years old at the Armory in Tampa..TNA is doomed. They need a Maryse or McCool an real competition..."Suicide" I can't even watch it..ZZTOP bombed! who ever thought up that Santino bit needs to be fired...Bikini match best match of the year!
