Tyson Kidd shines on ECW
A few quick thoughts on Tuesday night’s episode of ECW:
In his most high-profile match to date, Tyson Kidd came through with a strong performance against Christian. The ECW champion gave Kidd a lot of offense before finally prevailing in what was an exciting match. I think WWE might really have something with The Hart Dynasty of Kidd, David Hart Smith and Natalya. It’s a bit of a shame that Natalya isn’t getting much opportunity to show what she can do in the ring, but she has been good as the spokesperson for the group. ...
I loved the obnoxious grin on Jack Swagger’s face when he came out to interrupt what may have been Tommy Dreamer’s farewell promo. I’m not that interested in the Dreamer story line, but WWE was succeeding to some degree in making Dreamer a likable underdog. That is, until Dreamer suckered Christian and laid him out at the end of the show. The crowd didn’t seem to like that too much. ...
The friction between Mark Henry and Tony Atlas probably doesn’t bode well for Atlas, who really hasn’t added much to Henry’s act. Plus, we all know that WWE’s philosophy regarding wrestling managers is that they are passe.

I'm glad there are some up and comers (potentially) around.
Why do you think WWE's attitude toward managers has changed? Bakc in the good old days, Jimmy hart, Bobby the Brain and others were a great part of the act. It seems if they bothered to find the right person, it could go over well.
I don't know if there is a different creative team for each show, but they should fire the team for Raw. Sad, but the B and C shows are killing the so called A show this year.

A couple of comments on David Hart Smith.
I have mixed feelings about his character.
First, I know he's a heel but the things he said about his father left a bitter taste. It's kind of hard to say you are better than your father ever was without actually having accomplished anything.
Second, while I like his look and his technical wrestling skills are quite good he's not keeping the crowd interested. I've noticed the boring chants when he wrestles. He reminds me a lot of those old AWA wrestlers who used keep on a side headlock for three minutes. Unfortunately, that doesn't work in the WWE universe and he'll have to find a way to pick up the pace.
This isn't to say the Hart Dynasty isn't an interesting faction but despite his look, size and wrestling talent I see David Hart Smith as the weak link in this group in terms of being over with the fans. But he does have time on his side.

Well at least Atlas has been able to collect a paycheck for a while that he probably never dreamed of getting.

Why do you think WWE's attitude toward managers has changed?
Because Vince wants to make movie stars out of his wrestlers so *everything* else is being de-emphasized. Managers have little or no role anymore, referees names' aren't even mentioned these days and you will notice the next generation of announcers to be much more low key than Lawler and Ross. Likewise, tag teams have been almost completely de-emphasized because you can't put a tag team in a movie. Everything is being focused on developing the celebrity and star power of the "superstars" in hopes of finally making that big score in Hollywood.
And it sucks...

Also, I think Tyson Kidd is way more charismatic and a much better wrestler than Harry Smith, Rhodes, DiBiase- the WWE's chosen ones. Kidd is just so phenomenal in the ring and those other guys are just boring to watch wrestle and are wooden on the mic.

Managers started getting phased out when the WWF saw a downturn in the business after the Rock 'n' Wrestling boom, so I think it was initially a cost-cutting measure. Why pay for another body to travel when a wrestler could do all his own talking, and the other person is unnecessary? Of course, the resolution to that issue today is to get one manager for 3-5 different wrestlers at a time, but then those stables may undermine factions like The Legacy and this Hart Dynasty.

I think the hart dynasty would be better served on Raw Tyson id really good i wich they would bring back the cruser title and have him and Bourne fight over it. As far as D H goes I think he has along way to go he looks good in tag matches with Tyson but solo his matches are decent as best he is not believable and Boy I want to believe but I can't.

The logic may be that Dreamer is ECW, so he does renegade things like turning against the babyface champion. Nevertheless, I didn't like it too much, either.
