Jim Cornette, Daffney, Kenny Dykstra coming to Baltimore

Maryland Championship Wrestling announced that legendary manager Jim Cornette, TNA’s Daffney and former WWE talent Kenny Dykstra will be appearing at its July 11 Shamrock Cup show at The New Green Room in Dundalk.

It is unclear at this point what their roles will be at the event. Another TNA star, Stevie Richards, also is confirmed for the show. He will team with Sugarmask in a four-way match for the MCW tag team title.

Jim Cornette??????? Were Not Worthy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Sugarmask" , isn't that YOUR ring name Kevin ?? :-)

I think it's disgusting MCW has a show honoring Shane. It'd be like WWE having a Chris Benoit Memorial show.

I was considering going until I realized this is the same night as UFC 100. I'm sure the date was set a while ago, and its not a big deal for many wrestling fans, but doing a show the same night as the biggest UFC show in months is probably not the best idea.

Tough call....MCW or UFC 100??

RESPONSE FROM KE: Not tough for me.

I could not agree more with Sara.

Kevin, please reconsider promoting an event intended to "honor" this individual.

Kevin , I'm sure you're too busy to reply , but I'll ask a question anyway .
Me not following MCW , am curious what seems to be the controvery concerning Shane Shamrock by other commentors . I realize it's in your best interest to be neutral in your thoughts .
Thanks in advance if you have the time to reply .

RESPONSE FROM KE: Shane Shamrock (Brian Hauser) was shot and killed by police during a domestic altercation. That is all I know.

As for the Shamrock Cup, it's an annual tournament of cruiserweights. Guys such as Alex Shelley, Chris Sabin, Petey Williams, Sonjay Dutt, Jerry Lynn, Stevie Richards, Christopher Daniels, and Jay Lethal have been in it. Two years ago, Chris Jericho made an appearance.

To Jack in Hebron:

The police were called because Hauser (Shamrock) was beating up his wife, which was a frequent event for him. When the police arrived, he went at them with a knife.

Kevin - I'm not trying to be difficult but if what BOFF and you , yourself say, why is he being celebrated ? I guess somewhere there is an opposing discription of what transpired .
( thanks for the addendum to your reply by the way Kev )

I will try to remember the good things about Shane Shamrock. He was turning his life around. He may have made a few mistakes in his life, but we all have. Some bigger and more often than others. I thought his wrestling career was starting to take off when he passed away. No matter what the circumstances were, it is sad that a young man with his whole life ahead of him was taken.

@ Old Time Rasslin' Fan:
Sorry, but beating your wife and coming at anyone with a knife is something that shouldn't be trivialized as "a few mistakes". His life wasn't taken. He gave it away.

I'm still confused .

What's pathetic is in the kayfabe world of wrestling the story is he opened the door and was cutting apples with a plastic knife for his daughter and the police shot him. I used to live in the same neighborhood and the reality is the cops were there on a regular basis for him beating his wife.

Well , juding by the comments , and as an outsider looking in , MCW should re-think the name of their cruiserweght tournament . I'm surprised that there isn't much backlash . While I'm sure the annual event is entertaining , I guess I'm having a problem with whom it's "honoring" . Maybe the proceeds should go to battered women .
