Pink and black attack on ECW

Another solid episode of ECW Tuesday night was highlighted by the ECW debut of D.H. Smith, who was referred to as David Hart Smith.

Smith, the son of the late Davey Boy Smith, came out of nowhere to attack Finlay during the veteran’s match with Tyson Kidd. Listed as 6 feet 5 and 260 pounds, Smith made a strong first impression, as he and Kidd delivered quite a beat-down to Finlay.

After it was over, Natalya raised the arms of Smith and Kidd – who teamed together as The Stampede Bulldogs before getting signed by WWE – to a loud chorus of boos. This was a great way to establish the new – as of yet unnamed – heel group.

It’s a real shame that Teddy Hart has never been able to get his act together, because he is probably the most talented one of the Hart Dungeon bunch.

Other thoughts on Tuesday’s show:

The Peep Show with Christian and Jack Swagger was entertaining. I’m really looking forward to seeing them wrestle each other again Sunday at the Judgment Day pay-per-view. On a side note, now that WWE has a PG rating, shouldn’t The Peep Show be changed to something more family friendly, like Christian’s Crib? …

Every time you hear someone on a WWE show announce that there is a no-contact rule – as ECW general manger Tiffany told Swagger and Christian – it’s a certainty that there will be contact. …

It was a smart move by WWE to move Vladimir Kozlov from Smackdown to ECW. He was in a little over his head working with superstars such as Triple H and The Undertaker, and he now has an opportunity to re-establish himself as a monster heel on ECW and perhaps get back to Smackdown or Raw in the future. The way Kozlov was presented Tuesday was perfect. One of those awesome training videos was shown, and then he made quick work of his opponent in a total squash. …

For a moment it appeared that Tommy Dreamer was going to defeat Mark Henry. That would have been almost as ridiculous as Shane McMahon beating up Randy Orton. Well, OK, nothing comes even close to that, but I still don’t think Henry should ever job to Dreamer.

As excited I am for a Hart-based stable, if we are to believe in the reality of wrestling, why would anyone in ECW make a tag-team, as their is no tag title?

Man, Teddy Heart would be awesome in the WWE. Talk about issuing a new era in the WWE - too bad he is so self-destructive! Sometimes genius' can be tough to deal with. If the WWE moved into a more "Jersey All Pro" feel or "MMA" feel, I think it could bring back an edge that it once had.

I hope Mark Henry gets a storyline soon. I believe he did a great job as champ, however a good storyline in ECW would maintain his top heel status.

"That would have been almost as ridiculous as Shane McMahon beating up Randy Orton. Well, OK, nothing comes even close to that..."
Kevin, either you have a short memory or, like I have, tried to block out... David Arquette, World Heavyweight Champion.

RESPONSE FROM KE: Yes, I have tried to block it out because I lived through it in WCW. Just as I have blocked out Vince Russo as WCW champion.

If WWE's "PG" that certainly didn't come into play with Santino dressing in drag as his sister, then admitting he's lesbian after kissing Rosa Mendes lol

I really hope Tommy Dreamer retires next month. It's sad when somebody makes Mark Henry look quick in the ring.

Why would they change the name of 'the peep show' exactly?

Peeps = People

Christians calls his fans 'peeps', I seriously doubt anybody has any problem with it being called 'the peep show'

Slight overeaction.

Oh, ECW is awesome too, Christian, Swagger and Hart Foundation 2.0. What more could you want from a WWE show!?

RESPONSE FROM KE: I understand what "peeps" are, but do you know what a "peep show" is? If WWE is targeting families and kids as a target audience, a parent may hear "Peep Show" and think something other than "people."

yeah kev ECW was really good this week. First of though Kev you have to stop with ur R rated brain Peep is short for people so he doesn't need to change the name we knowats on ur mind besides micheals, did u notice on Raw that Regal was getting more heat in the tag match then Hardy thats not a good sign if yuor gonna be the 2 or 3 heel on the show but it also tells me that they really should do more with regal as he was getting booed when he was just sitting on the apron while hardy was in. I am glad that the finally have brought up the New Harts after about waiting 2 years at least im glad that it has happened i especially when they hit finley with the hart attack I would say it is 2 bad they are on ECW because they are a legit team and would probably have great matches with the Colons. Ur right about the move on Kozloz to ECW I think it pretty much will save his job 4 now at least because he doesn't have the pressure he did on smackdown and hopefully his wrestling can grow same can be said about Knox since all of the strong faces are on Raw he can probably cut a nice niche in SD without jobbing to Cena 1 week batista the next etc etc. Finally can't wait to here ur wisdom on NST today i always enjoy ur insights.

What the hell was Jack Swagger wearing? He looked like IRS.

I am excited for the Hart thing. They are a little heel heavy right now though. Only so many times one can beat Finlay and Tommy Dreamer.

Why do we need to see Kozlov actually wrestle can't we just see promos and videos to show how he good he is? Its obvious squash matches aren't improving his in-ring work at all.

I also liked the DH Smith debut appearance. Was waiting for a "New" Hart Foundation claim. Is there any legal restrictions for Vince to use that moniker?

What are you thinking with all this anti-family nonsense, Kev? Don't you know that it's obvious to anyone with a pure mind exactly what peep show means? Any double entendre is OBVIOUSLY added on by someone with a mind that rests in the gutter. It's like Test calling his fans Testicles, what kind of dirty-minded person would make the correlation between that and male genitalia?

Well, it would make a sense to form a tag team & challenge the Colons since the titles can be defended on any show.

That will lead to more inter-brand matches, which Eck hates.

The only thing I didn't understand last night was why Matt Striker referenced Othello after the Mark Henry/ Tommy Dreamer match. I'm not sure if he meant the game or Shakespeare, but it was odd either way.

Striker kept calling them The Hart Trilogy... Maybe that's their new name?

LEAVE DEAMER ALONE!!!!!!! HE IS A WRESTLING GOD. BUY A REAL ECW DVD FROM 10 YEARS AGO AND YOU WILL SEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Baron

@Paul in Allentown;

I believe the tag titles are now undisputed and able to be defended on all three shows.

So, logically, it makes sense to form a tag team, win the belts and gain access to Raw and Smackdown.

This, of course, is if WWE sticks to the brand split.

Kevin - off topic , but regarding your comment to Bob K. , how would you rate your experience with WCW on a scale of 1-10 ?
Thanks .

RESPONSE FROM KE: I'd rate it a 9. Only because it didn't last long enough, or else I'd say 10. For all of the problems that WCW had (and it had a lot), I loved working in the business. Without a doubt the most fun job I have ever had.

Okay, in defense of Kevin with the "Peep show" meaning, my mind goes right away to the "adult" meaning of a peep show as well. Guess my mind's in the gutter too? lol
But seriously, 15 or 20 years or more ago I don't think anyone even called peoples "peeps". Maybe you have to be "old" to think of the dirty version of "peep show". (Guess I'm dating myself here).

Kev - thanks for the response . I was surprised , but glad to see you answer with a rating so high . I was a huge WCW fan and hated to see it fail . I have to admit that towards the end it got foolish and down right embarassing .
** You mean it was more fun than working at the Sun ??? **... Hard to believe :)

Would "The Colonoscopy" be an inappropriate name for a new finisher from Carlito and Primo?

The new Hart Foundation/Trilogy feuding with Carlito and Primo would make great TV on ECW and/or Raw. Throw in The Brian Kendrick and his partner and you could bring in some excitement back to tag team wrestling on WWE programming

Normally, I would complain about how a very good match between Finlay and Kidd had been interrupted, but I was very pleased to see the formation of the Hart Trilogy. They were indeed met with a loud chorus of boos, but there were some cheers and applause mixed in, too. I am interested to see where this goes.

Teddy Hart is vastly overrated imo, he has no ring psychology whatsoever, its just like move after move with no real build up. He is a good high-flyer and his arrogance gives him alot of personality. However Most of the moves he pulls off force his opponents to do more work then he has to. He's not needed, and especially if he has this destructive personality he seems to have inherited from Bruce Hart.

Don't twist things both guys are great technical wrestlers. David Hart Smith can be very technical, and is a sound submission wrestler working with the one of the greatest technical shoot wrestlers ever in Billy Robinson, and obviously a dungeon graduate. He's also worked with MMA heavyweight Josh Barnett (number 2 ranked heavyweight in all of MMA.) However he can also be a powerhouse being trained by Tokyo Joe in Japan who has trained sucessful Japanese wrestlers Satoshi Kojima, Minoru Suzuki and Yoshihiro Takayama.

I think they will be more like the British Bulldogs, who i happen to think are the greatest tag team in WWF/E history. Tyson Kidd obviously being Dynamite Kid and DH obviously being his dad. However I prefer it how they've taken up the Hart Foundation name.

I hope they do something drastic like show up on SD and take the ECW half of the titles back from the Colon's. They're is so many storylines avaliable for these guys that can involve non-wrestling cameos from guys like Stone Cold and even Bret Hart. Aswell as fueds with the Legacy and Shawn Michaels along with HHH.

Hope they're a success because they deserve it, with Natty being the voice of the team for the time being just like Jimmy Hart back in the day when Neidhart was ok on the stick but not great. Oh and the Christian Swagger storyline is brewing nicely.
