Mr. Kennedy addresses WWE release – sort of
Ken “Mr. Kennedy” Anderson dismissed the notion that his release from WWE was due to suffering a wrist injury on Monday’s episode of Raw. And he did so without saying a word, in a video that was posted on his Facebook page.

If Kennedy being injury prone was not the reason he was released, it adds fuel to the speculation that a conflict with Randy Orton is what got him fired.
During the 10-man tag match that headlined Raw, Orton was visibly upset after landing hard on his injury-repaired shoulder as the result of taking a back suplex from Kennedy. The two reportedly had words backstage after the show, although it was described as not being heated.

It is hard to believe with the way Orton has been booked recently that he could have that much pull backstage as to get Kennedy fired, then again who really knows what happened that they released him.
Quick question regarding ECW if you can find the time to answer Kev... Do you think Kozlovs push in ECW is going to be like his Smackdown one, which all seemed to be leading up to the whole 'HBK beat the undefeated Kozlov will he beat the streak at wrestlemania' angle and they are going to have him seem really strong only to get crushed again or will he actually be pushed as a legitimate monster heel, I suppose if it is the former he could be the way to go with turning Jack Swagger face, have Dreamer turn heel (he seems to be starting to lean that way at the minute) and feud with christian, leaving Swagger the American to defend ECW against the Russian invasion of Koslov, it would get him over as a face easy.
It would be a shame if they did bury Kozlov though, he is talented and is a former MMA champion plus he is just a great natural monster heel with big power moves and actually has a finisher that looks strong, he could go far if given a real chance.
RESPONSE FROM KE: It looks to me as if WWE has realized that Kozlov wasn't ready to be pushed at the level they had him at, so they sent him to ECW in the hope that he will be at that level eventually.

Kennedy's video showed the humor and charisma he had to offer as a performer. And he did it without saying a word. If his release is based on personal issues with Orton, then the WWE made a huge mistake. Why not simply move him to Smackdown?

Interesting! I am hearing more and more about this botched move. I didn't even see RAW due to exams but I just caught it on youtube and everyone's right. Orton looks hella pissed after Mr. Kennedy counters his headlock with a side suplex. Mr. Kennedy apparently said he didn't know if Orton was trying to sell the move or not which is perfectly logical. Who knows if wrestlers are selling or not anymore especially in regards to Randy Orton who's been involved in a number of realistic angles and punts.
However, I am thinking that would be so hilarious if Orton had something to do with the WWE getting rid of Mr. Kennedy only 4 days after his big return. Lmfao! Imagine if Orton went to the back and told everyone to release Mr. Kennedy's ass and they made some kind of storyline angle regarding this next Monday. Cold-hearted but definitely entertaining. Imagine the attention and controversy that would get if the WWE created an angle out of it. Orton would be so badass if it was true he had them release Mr. Kennedy. However, then I think they'd need to bring Mr. Kennedy back and have him get even.
Kind of a real-life thing.
I doubt that would happen though. It would be funny if WWE pulled a hoax that big though. This would be the only way I'd want Mr. Kennedy back otherwise his releasal is absolutely fine with me. He was out constantly with injuries despite only being a mid-carder who was trying to be made into something bigger with absolutely to absolutely no avail.

Randy Orton is almost as bad as Kennedy. Look how much time Orton has missed over the past few years from injuries and drug suspensions. Yet Orton is still with the WWE due to kissing Vince's ass.
RESPONSE FROM KE: I agree that Orton has had his share of injuries and suspensions, but I don't agree that he is still around because of kissing a--. It's because he is an extremely talented performer. If Orton wasn't as good as he is, he'd have been gone.

Screw orton.

wonder if this might be a work?. just saying
RESPONSE FROM KE: Trust me, whenever anything happens in wrestling, my first thought is: I wonder if this is a work.

hard to feel much sympathy for Orton,no I take that back, hard to feel any sympathy for Orton,as a mater of fact,he's one of the primary reasons I quit watching WWE and started watching TNA,the other reason being Vince McMahon himself.Unless of course I know in advance he'sgoing to get humiliated, then I might tune in.

The company really should have understood that Ken hadn't wrestled for many months and might be in slightly less than tip top form.
I would have enjoyed a Kennedy-Orton matchup but for reasons best known to the WWE's management now we won't see that.
We've already seen Batista-Orton and HHH-Orton. Been there done that.
If Orton is going to continue as the top heel in the company he should get used to dealing with ring work that is less than perfect. It is wrestling after all, not architectural design.
And in this case the wrestlers were directed to wrestle in basketball gear as part of a promotional gimmick.
On another level, the WWE really needs to establish a long term plan for Raw that extends beyond the same four or five wrestlers at the top of the card.
Getting rid of a performer positioned as a top contender after only one match back does not suggest a long term plan.

Had WWE thought that Kennedy was going to draw for the company, then he would still be there. I am skeptical that HHH - let alone Orton - has enough influence to get a tier-two star released unless there is some additional factor.
But then again, we are talking about the same company which treats Gail Kim like WCW treated Bret Hart: pay them big money, but under-utilize them.

I won't blame WWE for releasing Mr Kennedy. He is injury pros and WWE can not invest time on such people.

I am of two minds on this whole Kennedy kerfuffle.
Ritz might be right. This could very well be a work. I was watching the USA Network this evening and the commercials promoting RAW tomorrow night featured Kennedy. If Kennedy was gone one would think so would those commercials. Then again the left hand doesn't necessarily know what the right hand is doing.
So if in fact Kennedy has been honest to goodness fired it didn't happen solely due to any injury he might have received but rather an injury he inflicted intentional or otherwise. Kennedy stepping on the wrong toe be it Orton or Triple H or Stephanie is a far more plausible explanation for his abrupt release. Assuming, of course, that he has been released.
Things are never as they seem.

WWE set a really weak example by releasing Mr Kennedy whatever the reason is.The guy is talented and we will see him soon in TNA.

He'll be on TNA soon enough in a 'Mic on a pole' match, fighting a cardboard cutout of Mr T or someother god awful gimmick match. along with all the other young talented wrestlers
Whilst old guard of Sting, Jarret and Foley dodder around fighting Angle for the belt.

I looked at the 10-man tag match on youtube, but didn't see the move that Mr. Kennedy mis-executed on Orton. Was it that bad?
Posted by: Beach Bum | June 1, 2009 11:27 AM
It'll be interesting to hear if Orton addresses the firing of Kennedy on the mic tonight. Maybe he'll say something like "Kennedy talked a big game when he returned last night but when it got to being in the ring, he failed once again." If it's addressed, I'll go along with it being a work.
It's also pretty hard to believe that Kennedy was going to get a title run after winning MITB in 2007. At the time, I don't think he was anywhere near as popular as Edge, Van Dam, or Punk when they won the briefcase. I think his hype was always a bit too much. He should have been booked as a mid-card dominator for a while and given a longer U.S. title run. I also wouldn't have turned him face.

This really sucks big time. Kennedy was poised in my opinion to be a big time star then this happens.
Quick question: Do you really believe that management made such a rash decision this quickly and Is Randy Orton really the kind of performer that they would fire Kennedy after one night because he had so much pull
after all the trouble that Orton caused on smackdown?

It will be interesting how it goes with Kennedy. There really wasn't room for him at the moment and how they had him booked. I was shocked he came out as a face considering the landscape on Raw right now. They could always get releaser's remorse the way they did with Matt Hardy. That comeback ended up being the best thing that ever happened to his career.
I'd say I don't see them being able to get Orton to let Kennedy get his revenge, but I'd have said the same thing before they pitched him on Super Shane and Red Bull Ric. Then I also realized Hardy lost how many of his return matches with Edge?
He can always go to ECW and fued with Christian on the most overlooked blonde guy with the stuble beard.
Personally, I'd like to see him get to TNA, debut as the Ringmaster Ken Anderson and really follow his idol Stone Cold's footsteps from there.
