John Cena-Ted DiBiase match highlights WWE Superstars
John Cena has a submission match against The Big Show at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view on June 7, so it wasn’t difficult to figure out the finish of Cena’s match against Ted DiBiase Jr. on WWE Superstars Thursday night.
Of course Cena won with the STF, but while the finish was predictable, the match itself was intriguing because it pitted WWE’s biggest star against one of its most promising young stars.
The two worked well together and, more importantly, DiBiase again proved in this showcase match that he has “it” inside the ring.
Despite having a little less than three years experience, the 26-year-old DiBiase already wrestles like a seasoned veteran. If he can develop his character, he will be the future superstar that many in WWE think he can be, and Cena-DiBiase will be headlining pay-per-views and not just WWE Superstars.
DiBiase’s detractors have pointed out his lack of charisma, but I remember that’s what some people used to say about Randy Orton. It’s funny how I don’t hear that too much anymore.
Other thoughts on Thursday’s show:
Jack Swagger, the one guy in WWE who may beat DiBiase to the upper echelon, got a nice, clean win over Finlay. After consecutive losses to Christian on pay-per-view, Swagger needs to be booked strong heading into Extreme Rules. …
The Colons and The World’s Greatest Tag Team were having a fantastic match, and then Cryme Tyme had to show up and ruin my enjoyment. It’s been a while since I can recall a babyface act as annoying as Cryme Tyme. …
As much as I like watching Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas team up, it just seems like a step back for Benjamin to become a tag-team wrestler again.

What, no Wieters hype on Ring Posts? It seems like everyone on the Sun's staff has a quota to fill, like five Wieters references per article or blog post.
Just for fun, who would you compare in the wrestling world to Wieters? My pick would be Brock Lesnar, because of how much everyone is pumping him up to be "The Next Big Thing."
RESPONSE FROM KE: Lesnar is a good one. Lex Luger is another.

Yes, at first I hoped cryme tyme would be something, but now they are a joke. Almost as annoying as the Sheepherders. Would rather have the Mulkey brothers make a comeback than watch these two buffons. No wonder tag team wrestling in the WWE is so sorry.

Kevin.. just to let you know, the NBA lay the Smackdown on WWE in the ratings War, with the Lakers vs Nuggets game getting a 6.9 rating, and well WWE having a 3.2 rating. you know Vince would've love to rub it in, by saying the power of the WWE Universe gain more ratings then NBA showcase game last monday night, anyway i guess nobody was interested in seeing Vince poke fun at Nuggets owner d:
with making Raw all about what happen in Denver, i would be interested to see? if Vince will play one of his Did you know facts, about the ratings War. by the way did you see John Cena & Shane Mcmahon at the Lakers vs Nuggets game, i couldn't believe Vince would go that low
Anyway i wanted to ask, can you please share your thoughts about the Ratings War that happen this past monday
RESPONSE FROM KE: Wasn't much of a war, was it? I'm not surpised at all. The NBA conference finals -- especially a good series like this one -- is something a random episode of raw can't compete with

Hornswoggle?

Here are four matches which have pitted a main eventer against a young star, so far this year:
HHH versus Cody Rhodes (Raw, March 16th)
John Cena vs. Jack Swagger (Raw, April 13th)
Batista vs. Ted DiBiase (Smackdown, April 17th)
Cena vs. DiBiase (Superstars, May 28th)
But one of these things is not like the others.

I'll echo Andrew's comment - Hornswoggle is far more annoying than Cryme Time, but they're quickly shooting up the list.
With the elevation of Superstars, it's shocking that Raw is now the weakest weekly WWE show. After the draft, it looked like they were the strongest show. Now, I watch SD, ECW and Superstars much more eagerly.

DiBiase and Cena had a serviceable match but nothing special.
What is it again about DiBiase that makes him of special interest that I must be missing?
I have to admit I am generally tempted to turn the channel during his matches, especially when they go on for a while like this one. His wrestling style is just blase by modern standards to me. HE and Rhodes look like silly copycats walking down the aisle with the same paranoid look trying to be Orton clones. I like Orton but those guys emulating him they way they do just makes them look like they have no minds or abilities of their own.
There are many in WWE capable of having an equally good match with Cena if given the chance.
Am I alone thinking this way?

Cryme Tyme ruined it for me as well. When I heard that "YO YO YO" I sat up and was like what the he double hockey sticks. And even more painful than Cryme TYme ruining the match..was trying to watch middle age rhythm-less people try to dance and throw up their hands

Kev I think shelton needs to be in a tag team. He has had a couple cracks at being a singles star and he just cant get it done. He is great in the ring but terrible on the mic. he is best suited in a tagteam and the worlds greatest tag team was always awsome. So how is being in a great tag team a step back from just being that guy no one cares about untill he takes a crazy bump off a latter at money in the bank.?
RESPONSE FROM KE: It's taking a step back because -- unless WWE is changing its philosophy -- tag team wrestling is an afterthought in WWE.
