Danny Bonaduce wrestling on TNA pay-per-view
Former child actor and reality star Danny Bonaduce will wrestle inside the six sides of steel at TNA’s Lockdown pay-per-view on April 19, TNA announced on its Web site earlier today.
If you’re expecting me to slam TNA on this one, you’d be wrong. Do I think TNA will get much mainstream publicity out of this? No. Do I think it will increase the buy rate? Probably not. But I actually find Bonaduce’s human train wreck schtick entertaining. I suppose it’s because I’m old enough to remember the raspy-voiced, jacked-up bad boy when he was a precocious, freckle-faced kid on The Partridge Family in the 1970s.
This will be the official pro wrestling debut for Bonaduce, who has done some celebrity boxing matches (most recently against Jose Canseco) and was a participant on Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling. TNA has not revealed who his opponent will be.
Bonaduce is 49, but he’s in great shape. If TNA puts him in the ring with the right guy, the match might not be bad. I think someone like Eric Young or Shane Sewell would be a good choice. Let’s just hope that Vince Russo doesn’t decide to put the TNA world title on him like he did with David Arquette in WCW.
It will be interesting to see whether Bonaduce will be a face or a heel. The guy is a natural heel, but he is a popular disc jockey in Philadelphia, where Lockdown is taking place, so he will probably be cheered at the pay-per-view. I could see the fans at the Impact Zone in Orlando booing him out of the building, though.

Now both TNA and WWE have former child stars . TNA has Bonaduce and WWE has Shawn (sp) Cassidy . OOPs. that's Shawn Michaels . whatever. :)

Maybe it's for the best that you don't slam TNA, Kevin. You wouldn't want to turn on Impact this Thursday and see a parody of yourself taking a Border Toss.

And I thought TNA wouldn't be anything like WWE or WCW. What a let down

Seeing as how Russo likes to used failed angles from the past, he'll have the title by June.

"I suppose it’s because I’m old enough to remember..."
Indeed, and if you carry that reasoning to its next logical step, that's precisely why I would have expected you to "slam TNA on this one." After all, you're always (rightly) pointing out how often TNA's creative effort is unhealthily focused on the entrenched, older stars instead of building the company's future. Younger stars, younger viewers...it's the same argument.
I'm not a fan of celebrity cameos in the first place, but if TNA is going to import a Hollywood face, it should be someone whose primary audience skews younger. The purpose should be to benefit the company, not to amuse the writers.
RESPONSE FROM KE: Good points.

WOW! I have to say I am happy to see this, Danny is one CRAZY guy and this will be interesting. I actually think I might buy this PPV,( my first buy for a TNA PPV), not only is it the 6 sides of Steel, but a maniac Partridge on the loose!!YES!!

Well, since TNA likes to bring in third rate celebrities, I think they need to book Octomom next. She could fight one of the Knockouts in a Baby on a Pole Match.

Wow...I actually think this is a horrible idea. if TNA actually wants to be taken seriously this another step in the wrong direction. Sure its not Gary Coleman, or even Dennis Rodman, but don't sit there and tell me how true wrestling starts with TNA and you're throwing Bonaduce into a cage match. Anything outside of a glorified bloody beatdown would be a disapointment. And somewhere Christopher Daniels is spinning in his TNA grave.

Maybe this is more than a cameo. A showdown at Bound for Glory between Bonaduce and Todd Bridges could be in the works.

Reuben Kincaid probably would like a piece of Danny after all he put him through.
RESPONSE FROM KE: Awesome reference!

If anybody watched Hogan's Celebrity Wrestling they would know that Bonaduce is built like a brick wall, has wrestling skills and isnt afraid to launch himself. I for one am interested to see this.
