WrestleMania title picture comes into focus on Raw

So, what did we learn by watching Raw last night? Let’s review:

• It looks like it’ll be Edge versus John Cena for the world heavyweight title, and Triple H versus Randy Orton for the WWE title at WrestleMania 25

• The winner of a match next week between Shawn Michaels and JBL will face The Undertaker at WrestleMania 25. Hmmm. That’s a tough one to call. It’s either going to be Mr. WrestleMania or a guy who hasn’t won a pay-per-view match since July.

• Triple H and Stephanie McMahon seem to be involved in a relationship of some sort

• Shane McMahon has superhuman recuperative powers in addition to being a supreme fighting machine

Overall, I thought the show was a good first step in setting up some of the top matches for WrestleMania.

The big angle was the one involving Orton, Triple H and Shane and Stephanie McMahon that closed the show. After Orton punted Shane in the head following their unsanctioned street fight (more on that in a moment), Stephanie came down to attend to her fallen brother. When she confronted Orton, he gave her an RKO. Suddenly, a seething Triple H ran into the ring as Orton, Ted DiBiase Jr. and Cody Rhodes took off.

Even though Triple H and Orton have wrestled each other numerous times over the years (including on four pay-per-views in a row last year), the story line of Triple H trying to avenge his family puts a fresh spin on the encounter. Plus, Orton is an even bigger star now than he was the last time he wrestled Triple H.

Now, about that street fight. Just when you thought the booking of the Orton-Shane McMahon feud couldn’t get any more ridiculous, it did.

After being taken to a hospital Sunday night because he was going in and out of consciousness following his match with Orton at the No Way Out pay-per-view, Shane appeared to be perfectly fine last night. In fact, he was standing toe to toe with Orton and even getting the best of him. Luckily for the battered Orton, DiBiase and Rhodes came out to save him before Shane O’Mac could finish him off. That prompted Jerry Lawler to say that “no one man can fight three.” I don’t think he’s been paying attention.

Miraculously, this time there actually was strength in numbers, and that gave Orton the opening to kick Shane in the head. It was the right ending, but the path they took to get there couldn’t have been more wrong.

After getting beaten up on more than one occasion by a non-wrestler, Orton doesn’t seem like he should even be in the same ring with a 13-time world champion. The good news is that WWE still has six weeks to rectify that.

Other thoughts on last night’s show:

Raw got off to a good start with an appearance by new world heavyweight champion Edge and Smackdown general manager Vickie Guerrero, who announced that the WWE board of directors has upheld Edge’s title win at No Way Out. Guerrero explained that she was the highest-ranking official in the building Sunday night after Raw GM Stephanie McMahon left early, so she had the authority to put Edge in the match. It’s a little flimsy, but I can deal with it.

Cena came out to a strong ovation and he and Edge had a good verbal confrontation that started out humorous and then turned serious. Like Triple H and Orton, Edge and Cena have faced each other plenty of times, but it’s been more than two years since their last program. And like Orton, Edge is a bigger star now. …

The Chris Jericho-Roddy Piper segment was awesome. Piper’s deliberate, emotional promo was his best work in years, and Jericho continues to be a heat magnet. It’s starting to look like there will be a WWE Hall of Famer confronting Jericho every week. I can’t wait until it’s “Stone Cold” Steve Austin’s turn. Of course, that might just be wishful thinking. ...

I thought Triple H’s snarl and all the shaking and huffing and puffing he was doing in the final segment was a little over the top. I swear I thought his head was going to explode. He should take a lesson from his wife when it comes to enraged facial expressions. Nothing will ever top the fiendish look on her face after Triple H dumped her and Pedigreed her father during their wedding vow renewal ceremony six years ago. …

Just wondering: Who gave Michaels and JBL the authority to book a match between them to determine who faces The Undertaker at WrestleMania? Since Undertaker is on Smackdown, doesn’t Guerrero have to sign off on that? …

JBL walked out to the ring with a black eye. Insert your own Joey Styles joke. …

Why was Jamie Noble appearing on Raw? Oh well, at least he was only on for about a minute.

Kevin,

2 things.

1. Steve Austin is booked to appear at next weeks Raw live in Nashville, Tenessee so you dont have to wait that long.

2. Jamie Noble hasnt appeared on Raw in what 3 months. He gets moved to ECW and a week later has a match on Raw. Go figure that one?

And just for props

3. That was the best Raw in ages and im lovin all the diff storylines and just wondering where Batista is gunna fit into all this. Maybe Batista vs Chris Jericho at WM25 since Batista is a close friend of Ric Flair and Steve Austins.

PS: Vickie vs Steph CATFIGHT lol

We've seen so much of these two matches already. Perhaps they don't feel they need to put on a great card to go along with the Michaels-Taker match.

Great episode last night with the exception of Shane's superhuman feats once again. But so long as he's off TV now I can deal with it.

I'm fine with HHH-Orton headlining Wrestlemania 25 because, as you say, there is a whole new spin to it. BUT this will only work if HHH puts Orton over clean as a sheet. And at Backlash he needs to put him over again in the rematch. Then afterwards Orton should beat him some more.

HHH has had his time. He's been dominant this decade and even though he's nearly 40, last year they gave him one more long run with the title. He beat Orton, Cena, Edge and Jeff Hardy during that run - all of WWE's biggest young stars.

Now is the time to move on and pass the torch. HHH has to do for Orton what Foley did for him in 2000. Then a younger babyface can put Orton in his place, whether it's Cena, Hardy, Punk or whoever.

Undertaker & Michaels at this years Wrestlemania makes sense, lets face it right now there are few guys around deserving enough of ending “the streak” (just my opinion!). As huge a Shawn Michaels mark as I am I don’t see it being him, there is nothing to be gained out of it (well except me running round screaming like a girl lol).. Point is I as many of you probably think as well, don’t see Taker ever being beaten at WM which is how it should be, however if it is to happen the person beating him should be the next breakout star of wrestling.

This is where I go all HBK fanboyish so haters should probably stop reading now! If next year is to be Shawn’s swan song, then maybe the best way to go would be to have Mr. Wrestlemania winning the World Heavyweight/WWE Championship on the grandest stage of them all and retiring as the Champ (hey it worked for Trish so why not?)..

Right now there is at most a handful of active wrestlers that deserve such a send off, feel free to compile your own lists, though I imagine that anyone that has been watching for 20+ years will have a very similar list to my own (short isn’t it?) right now my own is only two long with one possible third, though he isn’t quite there just yet. (If you had/have a list Kev who would be on it?)

Now I know people are going to bash the hell outta me for suggesting such a thing but I did ask you to stop reading hehe, but think about it, not only would one of the few remaining true greats get a fitting send off, it would also make for a damn good title tournament leading to a PPV.

Love him or hate him but Shawn Michaels has achieved something very few ever do, he is a wrestling legend, a lock for the HOF. Hulk Hogan/The Rock/Steve Austin will forever be remembered because of their charisma, Shawn will be remembered as the guy who could have headlined Wrestlemania with a mop and STILL managed to steal the show lol.

Oh yeah, good Episode of Raw!

Kevin,
So, do you think Cena and HHH will eventually be trading shows? I just hope the WWE doesn't have Edge drop the belt less than 2 months after winning it, again. They should make Cena chase him for it, for awhile. Would it hurt to let Edge hold the belt for 3-4 months, at least??

Is Tomko still supposed to be with the WWE? If so, I wouldn't mind seeing the WWE align him with Edge as a bodyguard or something. If that's what it takes for Edge to walk out of Reliant Stadium with the belt, so be it.

Was it me or did Orton muff the punt of Shane? Oh well, even Sam Koch pooches one now and then. I finally told my girlfriend that HHH and Steph are really married, to which she responded "Why would anybody marry that shrew?"...my only answer was to quote Monty Python and the Holy Grail...."She has riches...and HUGE tracts of land!"

"Cena came out to a strong ovation ..." Not everyone seems to like John Cena, however.

Funniest sign of the night: The Champ is Queer

Kevin - although I've been getting bored with wrestling as of the past month or so, and seriously thinking of even quitting taping it and fast forwarding, I'm glad I decided to give it another week or so - Last week building up to No Way Out was good, and I think last night's RAW was one of the best that I've seen in the past few months.

Although Vickie/Edge bores me, wasn't a bad opening for the show. I agree with you on Jamie Noble and his purpose, but then I assume that was some "fill" for the show, maybe?
I am so very happy to have the old smiling "free" Shaune Michaels back.
I couldn't wait for that storyline to be over, but I do agree with you about them "setting their match up for next week with the winner taking on the Undertaker at WM25" although we know it's already been pre-approved, but it was still good. My call is Shaune Michaels wins it --- will be a good match - he and the Undertaker. I think that will be a better match than the Undertaker and JBL.

Now Kevin, I stated a number of times that Triple H is my favorite wrestler - although I was somewhat disappointed when he ignored his fans in Baltimore in December --- and Jeff Hardy was replacing him - but I really can't lower him from that number one spot. I knew when Stephanie was talking on that phone last night, Triple H would make an appearance in Shane's match - I just didn't expect Stephanie to get the RKO - I assumed the "goon squad" - Dibiase and Rhodes would come out, then Triple H would come to Shane's side. I thought the ending was great and definitely set up the Triple H/Orton match at WM25. I'm also hoping that by pairing Stephanie and Triple H on screen (did you notice she was wearing wedding rings last night), it will mean Triple H comes back to Raw in the April draft.....

I'm glad that Triple H chose to go directly to Stephanie's side when he entered the ring and did not go after Orton & company....The one thing I disagree with you on Kevin is the emotions played out in Triple H's face - I thought they were great --- shows a man in love with his wife, and ready to kill anyone who attacks her. I really am looking forward to them working together and not apart.

Anyway, keep up the great blogs - they make my day.

"Triple H and Stephanie McMahon seem to be involved in a relationship of some sort"

You do know that they are married?! Of course they are in a relationship - its called marriage!

RESPONSE FROM KEVIN ECK: It's called sarcasm. See, everyone knows they are married in real life, but on TV it's ... ah, forget it.

I think JBL & HBK are fighting for the "right to challenge" Undertaker. Semantics but there's a difference.

Is it a coincidence that HHH's opponents tend to be book fairly weakly? Just sayin'.

I agree with you that HHH's acting was over the top. It's not as if this is the first bump that Stephanie has ever taken. Hey, come to think of it, hasn't HHH pedigreed Stephanie a few times now? Bah, what a hypocrite.

I agree that Piper *delivered* a good promo but unfortunately, I also felt that the content of his promo was rather weak. It came across as a confirmation of every single negative thing that Jericho has been bad-mouthing these veterans for: reliving past glory, hoping for one more run at the top, sucking up to the fans at the expense of their own well being, etc. Jericho is supposed to be the heel here but I have thus far find him more articulate and convincing than either Flair or Piper. I doubt Austin would be able to counter Jericho through words, only action.

Incidentally, both Lance Storm and Bret Hart have recently written fairly negative reviews on the Wrestler film. Just thought you might want to know (and perhaps address), if you haven't already.

I think its gonna be a triple threat match with Undertaker vs HBK vs JBL, of corse HBK is moredeerving but we all know JBL is loved backstage so he is always attempted to be booked well, plus there is history with Undertaker and JBL from the APA days, if WWE wanted to build upon that, and JBL will be in his hometown. HBK will put an a great performance, cant wiat for him and Undertaker to work a match together, will be amazing. Although I think triple threat would be right way to go, as like people have menioned before Undertakerif not pinned stayes undefeated so adds more drama. And there needs to be a heel there I feel.

Im glad shane is kayfabe injured, Orton needs to re build his heat, Triple H was a bit late in saving everyone and then looked like he needed the toilet....cant wiat for this feud though!

Edge was amazing! He seems less crazy and more smug and arrogant at the moment, its a nice change and Edge plays it briliantly! Cena also cut a god promo (coming from a cena hater) and this looks like a great storyline, looks like HHH to raw and Cena to smackdown

Jaime Noble needs a cruserwieght division! they need to make one on ECW. He is very talented and cuts great and funny promos, but how can he be taken seriosly against Kane? BTW glad Kane one a match against a smaller bloke for once

MIke knox is growing on me but he cant get heat from loosing to Rey Mysterio, I thought they were building him up to fave Evan Bourne when he returns

Was funny to see santino ambushed, and great to see all the divas :) I wonder when Gail Kim is going to return? Is she still returning?

CM punk needs a new opponent, regal vs punk has been done to death. Shad deserves heat on him from WWE, his performances aent great, escpecialy compared to JTG. Pricless should not be made to look weak and cowardly, they need the rub from Orton

Where was Kofi? I felt for sure he would atleast challenge Edge, Kofi could do with the rub

Jericho and Piper where immense! Jericho is building up nicely to Wrestlemaina

Overall a very good raw I felt, hope WWE keeps it up

Was it just me or did Santino look like a chick last night? The diamond earring and the removal of the unibrow, hair cut, and fresh tan...
I'm just sayin...

RESPONSE FROM KEVIN ECK: I think he's trying to impress Rosa.

Kevin, The only really good part about raw last nite was the ending which every site u read had that right with HHH defending his family, the only other good thing last night was the mic skills everyone was on cue last nite and everyone of the storylines will be interesting, if HBK or JBL do get to wrestle Taker will one of them be on SD because Taker will be champion until WM i believe. I grade the show for wrestling a C- rest of show B.

Kev, I have to agree with you on most points. The Shane/Orton fued was bad. Come on give me a break, Orton would crush Shane in a NY minute. But hey it's rasslin' . When they went into the crowd I thought maybe the old man would show up and give Orton a chair shot to the head. Shane and Vince would drag Orton into the ring. Vince gives Orton a drop kick to the head then they make Orton kiss Vince's ass. LOL But that would not lead up to another HHH and Orton match " yawn " Does Vickie and Edge make your skin crawl or what. WOOOOOO

You forgot to mention the Women's Championship match last night. The main focus was not on Melina and Beth but on Santino's new image. I don't understand why they change his image to look a little bit....."gay" if that's the right word to use. He goes from being Beth Phoenix's lover to a feminine male friend of hers?! Plus the match was kind of lame. I excepted more from a Beth & Melina match for the Women's title. It was a joke of how the match ended

RESPONSE FROM KEVIN ECK: I didn't forget. Just didn't have anything to say about it.

and I also noticed the "Women's Championship" match ... all 3.15 minutes of it. If you turned away from the television set, or went and grabbed a cool one you missed it, and why the Diva gang at the end? Are they setting up a group effort for Wrestlemania?

Exactly! Why wouldn't Taker or a GM have chosen his oppenent? So can Festus and Funaki now decide to have a match where the winner fights the US Champion? According to what happened last night why not?
Also what ever happened to builing a heel as unstoppable (i.e. Bundy, Andre, etc.) before Wrestlemania so you think the face will have to overcome great odds to win? Stop making Orton look weak.

I couldn't agree more that the booking of the Shane/Orton matches were absolutely ridiculous. Now obviously they want to make it at least watchable because not a lot of people are going to believe Shane can hang with Randy, but there's other ways around that. Taking shortcuts and using weapons to gain the upperhand wouldn't have made Shane cross the line of being a face as it would be believable that he needed to.

Although I was looking forward to an Orton-Cena match (mainly because I really enjoyed their Summerslam bout), a HHH-Orton feud could really be good at this present time. Orton is at another level right now and if you think about it, HHH is looking in the mirror on this one. He sees Orton attacking the McMahons which he once did. He sees Orton leading a group of young, talented wrestlers which he once did. Tie that in with the fact that they're going to make this personal with the revelation (on screen, that is) that HHH and Stephanie are married and this feud has a lot of potential.

If they don't restore some credibility back to Randy in the next coming weeks, though, this could get ugly fast. Anyone who's paid attention knows that Hunter has always had Randy's number so in my opinion, they need to build this to a clean win for Orton.

You echoed most of the thoughts I had about last night's RAW, but I have to emphasize how disgusted I am with the way Orton has been booked against Shane. Two nights in a row Orton basically had to be bailed out by Legacy or he would've likely been beaten. How can you book the man who won the Royal Rumble and should be the future lynchpin of the company, as being inferior to a 40 year old non-wrestler? Is Shane having an early mid-life crisis, and feels the need to book himself as a Superman to feel better about life? Does WWE really not see how counterproductive this whole angle has been so far? Like you said, if this is how he looks against Shane, I cringe to think about how HHH will be booked against Orton.
And it is pretty funny that two RAW stars have decided (apparently by themselves), that they will make Undertaker's Wrestlemania match a prize to be won. So, Smackdown and the Undertaker himself are just fine with RAW making this decision? I guess after Edge's actions at No Way Out, the inmates are now free to run the asylum.
And I agree 1000% about Piper- that promo was fantastic. After he finished, all Jericho really could do was hit him- to try and top that with a promo of his own would've been futile.

While I'll admit Shane McMahon is entertaining to watch ( that was difficult to say ), how "dad" is using him is reprehensible . I'm not an Orton fan but Shane's percieved ability to go toe to with him ( and just about anyone else ) is just wrong . It's a slap in the face to Orton right down to the jobbers .
To have Shane involved in the ring from time to time is okay just for the entertainment value . But for anyone to believe he can square up with the likes of Orton must be from Canada (see Jericho story ) .

Hey Kevin, any idea of what seemed like an inside joke when HBK was finger poking JBL constantly? It seemed like HBK was about to crack up...just wondering if you know of any inside story?

RESPONSE FROM KEVIN ECK: It was payback for JBL doing the same thing to Michaels and Michaels having to take it because he was JBL's employee.

So what I learned from last night's RAW?

-Shane has got superhuman recuperative powers compared to Kofi Kingston (who looks like he'll be CM Punked here).

-Just combine the Tag Team belts and have Miz & Morrison stay on SD. I mean come on...

-Jamie Noble = Cannon Fodder or like I call him 'Funaki 2.0'

-Knox is streamlining that beard with a steamer in the back. I just know it!

-So Santino is what now? The 3rd or 4th most popular Diva on RAW?

-Steph has got to get a better cellular plan.

Overall a good RAW but sue me I wanted to see Kofi get a lil payback and some tag team wrestling not involving the IC champ for once.

Shawn Michaels said he wanted to fight JBL to see which one of them would challenge Undertaker to a match, not to see who would definitely face him. It was only made official after both of them went backstage, and since Vickie was there, it makes perfect sense.

Either Jericho is wrestling Stone Cold at Wrestlemania as the "final" legend to confront him.....or....Mickey Rourke will come to the"aid" of the legends based on the movie and end up wrestling Jericho at WM with all the legends/Hall of famers in his corner. Far fetched? Wishful thinking? or What??

RESPONSE FROM KEVIN ECK: I think those are the two most likely scenarios.

You know how they had the heat between Edge and John Cena at the beginning of the show where was the real number one contender at?? Randy Orton...If he is at main event status why do they got him falling around with Shane McMahon...he shoulda been in Edge's face..

Outside of the continued antics of Shane-Man, I thoroughly enjoyed Raw last night. The opening segment was strong, Cena had one of his better promos in a while, he was funny without being cheesy, and very good when it turned serious. It appears that Cryme Tyme is close to receiving "future endeavors" letters, they didn't even get a televised entrance, Shad was barely even featured, and JTG's comeback was very short-lived. The IC title continues to flounder. Orton finally got the moment he should have gotten weeks ago, but as the saying goes, it's not the destination, it's the journey. Currently he doesn't appear to be a threat to the average senior citizen, nevertheless HHH.

Part of me is hoping that HBK/Taker doesn't take place until next year, if that is truly going to be Shawn's final Mania as is rumored.

There was enough bad material on this week's Raw to ruin it for me.

Edge's ridiculous kicking-and-screaming "You were wrong" promo made me question why I was watching wrestling anymore...

I'm at the point I fastforward through every match involving Rey Mysterio and a supposedly monster heel. Rey slays the much bigger foe? Gee, who saw that coming...

Shane's domination of Randy Orton is absolutely ridiculous...

If this wasn't the season to build up Wrestlemania, I think I'd be taking a hiatus right about now.

I really hope that the WWE ties up the loose ends when it comes to the Triple H-Stephanie relationship. There could at least be some kind of mention regarding their "divorce" seven years ago on TV. Triple H could say that away from all the cameras, the two of them reconciliated and decided to give the marriage another go.

I think Cena's closing comments at the end of the opening statement ("If you hide, I'll find you...") were enough to get me psyched about Edge vs. Cena at Wrestlemania. Sometimes, that's all it takes to make a feud hot.

My Opinion

-Edge was clearly defined last night as the World Heavyweight Champion even though he apperentlt will remain on Smackdown he will essentially work both shows. Edge likely will meet John Cena at Wrestlemania

-- Randy Orton kicked Shane McMahon in the head last night and then delivered ab RKO to Stephanie McMahon which promptly lead to the return of Triple H to Raw. A couple of things I noticed, first when arriving to the ring Triple H immediately checked his wife's pulse now I realize that the RKO is a devastating finishing manuver but I don't recall it ever killing anyone. While looking over his wife and looking at Randy Orton, Triple H developed a bad case of the Hulk Hogan hulk up's Clearly the WWE has laid the groundwork for Orton vs Triple H at Wrestlemania as they have now laid the ground work for Edge and Cena

-- Shawn Michaels and JBL will meet next week on Raw. Including Raw that will be two matches from No Way Out (Shane Mcmahon vs. Randy Orton) that people paid $39.95 and can watch these matches for free, though this time the winner earns the right to meet The Undertaker, who has never loss at Wrestlwmania, For those who dont remember it was Michaels who ended Flair's career at Wrestlemania last year, This would further add to his legendary career if he defeats the Undertaker. Prediction for Wrestlemania Shawn Michaels vs Undertaker, The first two guys to compete in a "Hell in a Cell"

--WWE officially announced Terry and Dory Funk Jr. for the Class of 2009 WWE Hall of Fame during last night's Monday Night Raw.

Possible Line up for Wrestlemania XXV

Edge (c) Vs. John Cena World Heavyweight Championship
Triple H (c) Vs. Randy Orton WWE Heavyweight Championship
Shawn Michaels Vs. Undertaker (Undertaker undefeated at Wrestlemania)
Jack Swagger (c) Vs. Christian ECW Heavyweight Championship
Jeff Hardy Vs. Matt Hardy
Melina (c) Vs. Beth Poenix WWE Womens Title

Please note that the matches above are not official but are matches I expect to see these matches with the current storylines being portrayed on television at Wrestlemania.

I get the feeling with Shane that he is getting special treatment. You've pointed out how ridiculous his fighting ability has been over the past couple weeks. There's no way in a real life situation he'd stand a chance.

Triple H, being family, has to always be in the spotlight as well. They run the business, they can do as they please. I'm not surprised one bit by Shane's super human strength or Triple H's constant stance in the spot light.

So if Undertaker is facing Michaels at WM 25 what does that mean for Kozlov? Has the creative team now decided Kozlov isn't ready for prime time? Or will he face the Big Show instead?

If it's Taker-Michaels then I can't help but think that Taker will turn heel having sold out in some way to JBL. The Undertaker hasn't been a heel since 2002 so his character is probably due for an overhaul. But if that is the case then the WM streak continues.

I agree the facial expression was a little over the top.

Considering that Stephanie is a mother of 2 I was surprised at how well she took the RKO,

I'm getting excited for Wrestlemania. The TWENTY-FOURTH anniversary looks like it's shaping up nicely.

I guess the "Road to WrestleMania" starts later than usual, since Jamie Noble told us that it begins the night after No Way Out, as opposed to the Royal Rumble as we've all be taught over the years.

I would pay money to see Piper and Jericho debate in the main event of WrestleMania. They were that good. I liked their confrontation because Jericho actually has good points. I don't agree with everything he says, but I can definitely see his point of view. He's an effective heel because he's not willing to accept any other opinions besides his own.

The great thing about that confrontation is that it didn't end in an over-the-top manner. Jericho didn't hit a Code Breaker or put Piper in the Walls of Jericho. Piper said that as long as he could crawl into the ring for the fans that he would. So, Jericho kicked out his legs, kicked him in the ribs, and told him to crawl around the ring for the fans. It was so intense. I loved it.

The best part of the Shane/Orton match was after he punted Shane and Stephanie was beside him. Orton looked so evil walking up behind her. I don't "mark out" often, but I did for Jericho/Orton and Orton sneaking up on Stephanie.

Two "mark outs" in one show means WWE did a great job.

"Why was Jamie Noble appearing on Raw?"

I am sure that it was just a one-time thing, Kevin. This show-switching stuff won't become a frequent occurence. For example, Kelly Kelly won't change brands with no explanation, for that would make a mockery out of the draft concept.

Let's talk writing. Am I alone in completely failing to understand the JBL–Michaels storyline? Where was the payoff? JBL "hired" Shawn, Shawn was invariably insubordinate yet suffered no consequences, and ultimately JBL got *what* for his money? It had potential but apparently Creative forgot to write a climax.

I don't know what's the motivation behind pushing Shane McMahon, whether it's shameless ego or something less cynical. Every CCW contestant worked better than Shane. Did you see him no-sell that punt? And on a camera close-up?! He's ruining the show.

Why does the production crew cue entrance music/videos for "unsanctioned" matches...?

Just a thought on the Jericho situation,do you think Bret Hart could play a part in this somehow? It seems like every week they run one of those WrestleMania vignette's the Hitman has been featured.First with Austin at 13 then with Owen at 10 and then last night with Yozkozuna and Hogan at 9.After reading his book he said he'd pretty much patched things up with Vince.I could almost see him on the side of Jericho but,if he did come back he'd be treated to a hero's welcome and then it would be hard to get heat on him.
By the by Kev, did you ever get to finish The Hitman's book? If so what did ya think?Just wondering because I just finished it myself and it wasn't at all what I expected.I thought it was a really good read with alot of fun stories and not nearly as much venom being spewed as I thought there was going to be.

RESPONSE FRON KEVIN ECK: I am all finished the book.

I think that Shawn vs Undertaker will be legendary and they still have 6 weeks to make it really good. Undertaker should definetely appear on Raw next week.

Even though I'm a huge Undertaker fan, I think that Shawn should go over at WM and then have Undertaker beat him in a rematch. If they do it the other way around, it would be too predicitable that Shawn will win the rematch.

If nothing else, they should have a two out of three falls match (possibly ladder, hell in cell and regular match (not a street fight - I'm sick of seeing garbage cans in the ring!) and Shawn wins at least one. That can keep the Undertaker's streak, but Shawn can say he pinned taker at WM. But I'd be happier with a clean Shawn win and him lose the rematch.

So Terry and Hoss Funk are heading to the WWE Hall of Fame. What, no induction for Jimmy Jack Funk?

Qoute Kev, - " it's called sarcasm ...., ah , forget it " . Now that was funny Kevin .

"Now is the time to move on and pass the torch. HHH has to do for Orton what Foley did for him in 2000."

spot on!

i dont think he will but if hhh screws this up for orton i dont think i can forgive him...like i said i dont think he will but just saying...

the worst thing about raw was definately reys match. after his performance in no way out how can they pull this on us? cole constantly calling him the underdog and asking how he can face up against mike noxx was actually filling me with rage! did cole not see the frgging elimation chamber where he was giving EDGE, the CHAMP a run for his money? come on wwe ... take rey seriously and stop making him fight big guys and bearded jobbers. the guys a maineventer.

santino is the other thing that annoys me but im started to give up on him ever getting anywhere. look at what he does with the little amount of tv time he is given. that manicure image change, the earings and the way he is walking... genious genious genious!!!! PLEASE wwe do SOMETHING worthwhile with santino... dont do a wcw on him.

"Why does the production crew cue entrance music/videos for "unsanctioned" matches...?"

Beats me. WCW never explained how titles could change hands at an unsanctioned event.

I was going to post something but Stan said everything that I was thinking. Just scroll up some and read his post again.

any possibility of a triple H and the McMahons vs. legacy match?

I can see this year being way better than 2008. Stephanie taking an RKO and Triple H coming toward her aide was just what wwe needed to tell a story leading to a WM 25 match.

Saw the slo-mo tape of Orton punting Shane on ECW. Looked pretty solid to me.

I thought Piper's confrontation with Jericho was awesome, Piper seemed to be on the verge of tears towards the end, very intense. In saying that though, the closing line of the segment from Hot Rod - "Old School is cool"...was terrible and totally blew the mood.

The way Steph took that RKO I hope she didn't bust an implant.

The best part was when Edge did his "Your Wrong" thing around the ring. he went up to the little boy, talked nice to him, and asked "So, do you know what you're going to be when you grow up? YOU'RE GOING TO BE WRONG!!!" The best thing he's ever done!

With all the talk about HHH's facial expressions (I thought it was a little over the top, but it did the job), was how good Orton's expression's were, from the evil look when he was checking on Shane, to the "OMG, what did I just do?" after the RKO, to finally, the last moments up on the ramp when he totally nailed the "Oh, I'm in deep doo-doo now" expression when HHH was burning laser beams through him.

What about this for a WrestleMania Main Event...Cena vs. Edge vs. Orton vs. Triple H.

Here's how you get to it, which isn't too difficult. Cena gets his rematch with Edge, of course to take place at WM 25. Orton, after seeing Triple H's reaction Monday, decides he wants no part of him or his Smackdown title. So he gets in the Raw title match at WM, making it Cena vs. Edge vs. Orton.

Triple H appeals to the only remaining McMahon, Linda, and she places him in the match, making it a 4 way dance. From there, most people probably won't like this, both titles are defended in the match. The first fall is for one title and the second fall is for the other title ala the IC/Euro double title match at WM 2000.

There are tons of interconnecting storylines for these four, that is if the creative team chooses to recognize things that have happened in the past. These four can easily go 45 minutes, if not more and its a main event you haven't seen before and it could happen at the silver anniversary of WrestleMania.

That's how I would book it.

Oh and the fact that you could have the possiblities of an undisputed champ adds to the drama. Along with the fact that whoever wins each title, goes to that brand. Like a mini roster reset, i.e. draft.

I hope triple H is moving towards the ceriial assasion again, comedy HHH doesnt work realy

"So Terry and Hoss Funk are heading to the WWE Hall of Fame. What, no induction for Jimmy Jack Funk?"

Awesome!
Flash Funk was dissed as well.
