Stevie Richards health update

Stevie Richards did not appear at last night’s Maryland Championship Wrestling show because he suffered a collapsed lung early last week, Richards said in an interview with MCW’s Shawn Credle.

Richards, who was scheduled to wrestle The Bruiser at The New Green Room in Dundalk, said he had been suffering from a severe lung infection for months, but doctors were unable to diagnose the specific strain of the infection. Richards underwent a lung biopsy Monday, and his lung collapsed during the procedure.

Richards, who was hooked up to a chest tube “for a day or two,” said he is feeling better, but his doctors recommended that he not wrestle last night.

Balls Mahoney was brought in to replace Richards against The Bruiser.

I’ll have some notes on last night’s MCW show after I get back from watching the Ravens defeat the Jacksonville Jaguars to clinch a playoff berth.

Kevin:

You recently mentioned WWE's new program "Superstars of Wrestling". That used to be the name of one of their Saturday afternoon programs, in the morning it was on WWDC in Washington and the after noion on WBFF in Baltimore. It was strictly matches, no storylines.

I'll go back even further. IN the 60's WBAL hosted a Saturday afternoon program live from their Hooper Ave. studios. It was a promotion for upcoming shows at the Civic Ceneter. We went there at least once a month.

Stevie who ? How about giving us your Ravens / Dolphins scouting report Kevin ? ( all due respect to stevie richards ) .

Do you know if this was a one-off match or if he's working the indipendent circuit now?

He's been through a lot healthwise the last few years with this & those throat surgeries he had, so hopefully he can get through all this.

RESPONSE FROM KEVIN ECK: I know that he is scheduled to appear at MCW's next show in February.

Sad to hear of Stevie's health problems, but good to know he's improving.

He was an underrated worker in every company, and 'Big Stevie Cool' still makes me laugh.

Get well, Stevie.

I hope Stevie gets well soon! The ladder match was just insane. Did you see Ryan McBride's back?

You were making us laugh during the Cole Calloway match, but that gimmick has been done too often.
