TNA and the Ravens: One-for-two isn’t bad
After waking up at 4 a.m. for a 6:15 flight this morning from Indianapolis to Baltimore and then catching a couple hours of sleep before heading into the office, I’ve had the Festus facial expression (before the bell rings) for most of the afternoon.
It wasn’t just the lack of sleep that had reduced my gaze to a blank stare either. It was a real downer to travel 500 miles only to see the Ravens put up as much of a fight against the Colts as Colin Delaney did against The Big Show.
But thanks to a steady intake of coffee and sugar, I’m starting to feel more like myself (although if Cryme Tyme gets significant air time tonight on Raw, I can’t guarantee that I won’t tap out and give in to sleep), so I figured it was time to take a look at how I fared on my two predictions for yesterday in regard to football and pro wrestling.
From Saturday’s blog: "Greetings from Indianapolis – the city that Dick The Bruiser made famous – where I’ll be watching the Ravens lay the smack down on the Colts tomorrow at Lucas Oil Stadium."
Result: Colts, 31-3. Unlike wrestling, there was no ref stoppage due to a participant being defenseless while getting pummeled.
Comment: There hasn’t been that much of a one-sided contest in Indianapolis since The Undertaker squashed Jake “The Snake” Roberts at WrestleMania XIII at the Hoosier Dome.
From Friday’s blog: "It was announced that there will not be a rematch [between Samoa Joe and Sting] regardless of the outcome, which makes me think that Sting might win the [TNA world] title [at Bound for Glory]. My prediction is that Kevin Nash will make a surprise appearance and turn on Joe. I have a hunch that Nash going public about his uncertain status with TNA and the fact that his photo and bio have been removed from TNA’s Web site is all a work to make people think he is no longer with the company."
Result: Bingo.
Comment: Even if I – and I’m sure others – did see it coming, I’m glad that there will be a payoff to the Nash-Joe story line that has been months in the making. Having Joe as the hunter again rather than the hunted is probably better for his character. It will be interesting to see how long of a run Sting gets with the title. His previous runs as world champion in TNA lasted a month and two days, respectively.

A wrestling company shouldn't have its world championship change hands in the main event at its major PPV due to outside interference.

It was a Sunday full of great football finishes, and your game didn't include one of them. That's unfortunate.
As for Cryme Tyme, the studious part of me would love to have an excuse to turn off Raw and work on my term paper.

Hey Kev , instead of a steady intake of coffee and sugar , maybe you should get Jeff Hardy to hook you up with something stronger .
Sorry , just a joke . That was too easy .
As far as your blank stare , I usually get that too about 9:01 monday night .

It was predictable, but i have to disagree with Elevation, who said that a wrestling company wouldn't make his title change hands due to interference.
WWE did things like this in the past and everybody was cool. I can't remember any right now, except the time when Mc Mahon help Austin to beat the Rock, or Edge spearing Cena to let RVD pin him. But i'm sure there is a lot more of them to mention.
I think a finish is cool as long as it pays off.
I think some matches sometimes are begging for some interference, no matter the name of the PPV.

I thought the whole PPV was a bit of a mess. While there were some good matches, like Creed-Bashir, the triple threat and Angle-Jarrett, McMichael ruined an entire match all by himself and the whole Sting-Joe match was ridiculous. You have two of the better upper-card workers of the past decade and have them fight in the crowd for 10 minutes like a McMahon-Austin match?

Gaston,
Did you even read what I wrote?
I don't care if the title changes hands due to interference at a minor pay-per view One Night Stand or Genesis, but TNA portrays Bound for Glory as their #1 WrestleMania-esque show.
The title shouldn't change hands in the main event of a company's biggest show of the year do to outside interference that took place for the sole purpose of setting up a less important feud.
Besides, TNA has too much of the run in, ref bump crap anyway. Clean finishes are what make great matches memorable, not Vince Russo overkill.

Elevation, yes I read what you wrote.
It's just I can't agree with that, because I remember wrestlemania matches with outside interference and I liked them.
But I think I put too much emphasis on my idea, because sometimes people tend to talk thrash about TNA and say nothing when WWE does the same.
If there it was something wrong with the way I spoke my mind, well... my bad. It wans't my intention.
