Shawn Michaels' injury

It's starting to get crowded again on the shelf in WWE.

Shawn Michaels, who suffered a torn triceps during an angle with Chris Jericho last night at the Raw taping, joins John Cena (herniated disk) and Randy Orton (broken collarbone) on the list of injured Raw stars.

Michaels, who was scheduled to be examined by a doctor yesterday, said last night that he still was going to wrestle Jericho at the Unforgiven pay-per-view on Sunday, according to The Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer. The Undertaker (last year) and Rey Mysterio (last February) both wrestled one match after suffering torn biceps .

It would be a devastating blow for WWE if Michaels were to miss Sunday's show and be out for an extended period of time. Not only because it is another significant hit to the Raw roster, but because the Michaels-Jericho program has had such an excellent buildup.

On the Smackdown side, Edge reportedly is taking a few weeks off because he is banged up, and Mr. Kennedy is out with a dislocated shoulder.

WWE had an even worse outbreak of injuries to main-event level stars last year. At one point, six wrestlers were sidelined, including Michaels, Triple H and The Undertaker. Then, just as the roster was beginning to get back to full strength, Edge and Cena suffered injuries that kept them out for months.

WWE does such a good job of branding itself that the company is bigger than any star, but its resiliency will once again be put to the test.

Oh , Oh , Kev . If its a full blown tear of the "t-cep", he's looking at potentially months not weeks of recovery .

Putting things into perspective , it could be worse , I mean the Ravens could have Joey Harrington as their QB ......

There is definetly something to Bret Hart's assessment of the schedule... (what he wrote about in his book) needs to be lighter. I think they've set the bar too high for risky moves, combined with the insane schedule.

They also need to go back to the Smackdown only and Raw only PPV, not just for injury reasons, but to build better stories and angles. Every 4 weeks with the same people in the PPV's doesn't give enough time to build good stories. It also spreads the load more evenly.

Hope Shawn is OK and doesn't wrestle if he shouldn't. They can easily turn this into another angle and delay the match til Survivor series.

I always see injuries as an opportunity for the WWE to push some of their unappreciated stars.

Maybe Jericho will get a main event push. I'd love to see him work a program with CM Punk, a lot more so than seeing JBL do the same. No offense to JBL, I don't usually go along with his sea of detractors, but I think Jericho would do much better in a main event spot.

Of course, with Orton returning soon he could get the top heel push before Jericho, but given the recent history between Punk and Jericho, I'd still rather see them go at it then Punk and Orton.

I cant wait for Orton to come back.. after his promo tonight .. he told it like it is .. I sure hope HBK is not as hurt as they are saying .. this feud with Jericho is one of the best feuds WWE has built up and would be a shame to have to alter it because of this mishap

Did the injury occur when Michaels fell out of the ring? That looked pretty scary when he landed on his head.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear about HBK. Even though at one point I thought he broke his own neck. I wonder if it happened then. Michael's took a swipe at Jericho through the ropes and actually fell straight down, head first. The Camera missed head on floor impact, but Michael's popped up pretty quick. His face wasn't much of anger, it appeared he was in some pain or I just escaped my own career ending injury.

The good news if you want to call it that, well probably get all HBK has at Unforgiven and some how they will tie this injury in with the story line and we'll get a rematch later this year or early next.

I really feel like if Shawn wants to come back after his injury heals it is a GREAT time to re-do his character. HBK should retire. he is NOT a kid anymore so the Heart Break Kid really doenst fit. he should/could come back as The HeartBreaker. Do the whole tought guy cowboy / texas thing that he has going but let him mature into who he is. a tough texas dude with a mean superkick.

That's such disheartening news, in the middle of such an awesome feud. At this point, I'm just crossing my fingers he doesn't decide to call it a career while he's recovering, and never come back. He's still way too good to quit now, but that one Q&A you did with him after he came back from the knee surgery sure made it sound like he's thinking about it. :/

I cant beleive Shawn got hurt again. He is my hero and is a great guy in my mind. Feel better soon Shawn!!!!!

Yeah, this is not good for RAW. The top two babyfaces are out with injury. The only thing that I can see good coming out of this is for CM Punk to be established as a top babyface in their absence. That is certainly what I would do, considering that Batista, while popular, doesn't have IT to become a true top babyface.

Here's hoping.
