The returns of Steve Austin, Bill Goldberg

Two of the biggest stars of the Monday Night Wars era are said to be returning to wrestling.

Steve Austin is listed as making a special appearance at the Cyber Sunday pay-per-view in Phoenix, Ariz., on Oct. 26. Bill Goldberg, meanwhile, said on Fight Network Radio earlier today that he is training for a return and is looking for a one-shot deal.

Goldberg, who previously has said that he probably would never wrestle again, hinted that his comeback would not be with WWE or TNA. If that is the case, it most likely would take place outside the United States, perhaps in Japan or with the European-based Nu-Wrestling Evolution, the promotion The Ultimate Warrior appeared for two months ago in his comeback match in Spain.

At this point, Goldberg's ability to draw is probably greater outside the U.S. He hasn't wrestled anywhere since the infamous match at WrestleMania XX in 2004 when he and Brock Lesnar, who were both leaving the company, were booed out of the building.

Austin was the special referee in that match, and I wouldn't be surprised if that ends up being his role at Cyber Sunday. At the event last year, Austin refereed the Batista-Undertaker world heavyweight title match. As far as getting back in the ring to wrestle, Austin has said that he most likely has had his last match.

I've always been a Steve Austin fan , to me any Stone Cold sighting is a good thing . In or out of the ring . Given his past injuries it's unfortunate that we can't see him make one last run inside the ring though .
Goldberg on the other hand made the big splash in the late 90's and I was a fan of his early in his career . He never seemed to live up to the hype and became a bitter man wanting to blame everyone but himself .
Goldberg's return if it is anything like "Warriors", is not a "comeback" but merely a $$$ maker to him . And ho-hum for the fans since there is evidence of him wanting to further persue wrestling .

"no evidence" of further persuing wrestling is what i meant to say in earlier post re: goldberg :)

If Goldberg's able to make a quick buck or 2 doing a three-minute squash, God bless him. But why anyone would want to see his tired act anymore is beyond me.

For what it's worth, internet rumors are suggesting that Steve Austin seems interested in competing in one final match at Wrestlemania XXV. The rumor also follows up to reveal that although Stone Cold is interested in one more match in Texas, it would depend on a few variables. Such as...

- Austin said that he wouldn't dare enter a wrestling ring again as a wrestler unless he knew in his heart of hearts that he can go out there and deliver like he did so many times before.

- If Austin were to wrestle again, of course it would only be possible against the right opponent. Someone with the ability to dare I say "carry" Austin through.

- Vince McMahon: Ultimately he is the man who decides whether or not us fans ever see Steve wrestle again, besides Steve himself of course. I do know that TNA would not be an option considering Austin is still under a Legends Contract with WWE.

Now as far as Goldberg is concerned, if an American promoter is willing to pay out 7 figures for 3 minutes of boo's and boring chants...well, that'll be his problem. Fact of the matter is that no one wants Goldberg back, at least not purist wrestling fans. Thanks

to anybody thats interested the match for austin is goldberg, and id much rather give the money to him than floyd maywether.

well i agree with the fact that nobody wants to see Goldberg back. The way his last match turned out to be,i dont think anyone is gona pay him 7 figure sum just for another Goldberg vs Brock lesner type match. Back in 1990s WCW had a 150 wrestler Roster which they fed to Goldberg, Goldberg came to WWE thinking that WWE will do the same thing, they still gave him Rock,Triple H, Chris Jericho. So GoldBerg If u ever read this please Dont ever come back we dont want to see u anymore.

Ya know, for you people to sit there and talk crap on Bill Goldberg is one thing because your entitled to do that but, don't talk smack on him about what happened in the WWE. First of all, Vince McMahon is a stuck up [jerk] that expects every wrestler in the WWE to play by his rules because he thinks that "he's" the only person that can put them in position to succeed. Secondly, do you think that Goldberg's character was played worth a damn in the WWE? Yeah he beat the Rock, Chris Jericho, Brock Lesnar and HHH but let's face it, those were the only matches he had one on one there. So yeah, I'd be [mad] too because who wants to see 3 or 4 against ONE all the time? Seriously, would it [tick] you off to train 5 hours a day and then show up to work to be treated like a puppet? I'm not saying that I think they should have allowed him to go 173-0 like he did at WCW but give the man a chance to do what he can do. If things would have been handled better on McMahon's part then Goldberg probably wouldn't have ever left. Except for the fact that his son was born, he's said that he wanted to spend time with his family but, who's to say that he wouldn't had been back now on a good note with the WWE and you people if they handled things better?

I agree with the last post. Vince neAnd ver utilized goldberg the way he should have. Yeah he had someone momemable moments (defeating Rock, Jericho and spear Rosie thru the guard rail, the elimination chamber just to name a few) He was always against Evolution and was being attacked with something or by someone from behind.. that was because Goldberg wasn't created by wwe he was created by wcw and Vince wasnt gonna push something he didnt create. And I wouldn't doubt that HHH didn't have any influence there either. If Vince had only given Da Man half a chance he probably would've stayed longer

im your number 1 fan goldberg i wnt u to dominate wwe again, i want to see u spear and jackhammer bad guys in wwe....pls... comeback we mis ur fans i wnt to see ur spear and jakhammer one last time in wwe......
