The naked truth about where you can watch The Great American Bash

A question that I’m frequently asked by people in Baltimore is whether there are any restaurants or bars that show the WWE pay-per-views. During the Monday Night Wars era, it wasn’t hard to find such places, but with UFC replacing WWE as the trendy form of “fighting” entertainment, pretty much the only place to watch a WWE pay-per-view is in someone’s living room.

Until now, that is. Fantasies Nightclub is advertising that it will show a WWE pay-per-view for the first time with its broadcast of The Great American Bash tonight. Admission is free.

Now, here is the disclaimer. For those who are not familiar with this establishment, you can probably guess by the name that it is not a family restaurant or corner sports bar. It is an adult club that features exotic dancers (I believe that is the politically correct term), so consider yourself warned.

If you show up with your family at Fantasies and your 8-year-old in the John Cena T-shirt and Rey Mysterio mask gets scarred for life, well, as Snitsky would say, “It’s not my fault.”

As for those of you who are of legal age and choose to go, good luck on keeping your attention focused on Mark Henry tonight.

A few other notes:

It has been reported on several Web sites that a U.S. title match between champion Matt Hardy and Shelton Benjamin has been added to tonight’s show. As of early this afternoon, however, it still was not listed on the Bash lineup on wwe.com. …

For those who have asked, yes, I did do some refereeing at the Maryland Championship wrestling show Friday night in Dundalk. It was a great experience and I’ll have a full post up about it soon. I also shot video interviews with WWE Hall of Famer The Iron Sheik and former WCW star Crowbar at the MCW shows over the weekend. The Sheik was hilarious, but I’m not sure how much of the interview is suitable for airing on a family newspaper’s Web site. Right before we turned the camera on, I politely asked him to refrain from cursing. He said, “No problem, my friend. You ask me not to curse, I don’t curse.” The Sheik was true to his word – for about two minutes. Once he got on a roll, there was no stopping him. …

Kevin Nash is scheduled to make an appearance at MCW’s next show on Aug. 23. …

I recently conducted a phone interview with “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase that I will post in the next few days. I’m scheduled to interview Diamond Dallas Page tomorrow and possibly a WWE star in the middle of the week. I really need to hire a secretary to transcribe all this stuff. I wonder if Teddy Long’s personal assistant on ECW is available.

Don't know why Maryland gets shut out.

Did Sheik tell you to be humble?

Strangely enough, the Hardy/Benjamin match was mentioned on WWE.com but they still haven't actually written it on the Bash page. They have an article on it though here:

I don't know why she wouldn't be. I have yet to see her swamped with duties.

Kevin - I'm sure you heard about " Fantasies" through the grapevine . Shame on you :)
The Sheik interview should be awesome . I hope you managed to avoid his wrath Kev !

You mentioned someone showing up with their son wearing a Cena t-shirt to that establishment may be scarred .
What about the scarring of your child Kev , wearing Shawn Michaels t-shirts ?

Padonia Station in Timonium gets the PPV's.

RESPONSE FROM KEVIN ECK: I know they used to. Are they still getting them every month? A few people told me that Padonia stopped showing them.

On padoniastation.com, the only event listed for tonight is "Krazy Karaoke" at 8 p.m.

I don't know is it's still true, but for the longest time Padonia Station showed all the PPVs.

Wasn't a bad place to watch them... decent food too.

RESPONSE FROM KEVIN ECK: I was there quite a few times myself back in the Attitude Era.

Kevin, I'm pretty sure that Padonia Station in Cockeysville still shows all the WWE PPVs - I've been there a few times for them.

You did a good job as a ref, being it your first time and all. Can't wait to hear your thoughts about the cup and what you thought about the refs holding the ladders during the tag title matches at the Cup. And I think any of your fans here would love to sit down and write down those transcripts for you...lol..I know I would...not as good looking as Teddy's though.

I believe Padonia Station only gets Wrestlemania and Summer Slam.

Did Sheik mention Hogan or his war with Sgt. Slaughter? Or even his victory over Bob Backlund for the 'WWF' title?

RESPONSE FROM KEVIN ECK: Of course I got him riled up about Hogan.

Did you bring up Brian Blair or Danny "Spicy" ( Spivey ) to the Sheik ?

RESPONSE FROM KEVIN ECK: I didn't have to bring up Brian Blair. He did.

Going way back to 1984 and the classic feud between the Iron Sheik and Sgt. Slaughter, they had a match in April of that year in Salisbury. After the card was over myself and my three wrestling buddies 'just happened' to be in the local Holiday Inn lounge. The Sarge was there on the dance floor doing the bump with two local gals and not long after we noticed the Sheik appear at the bar alone. I told my buddies I was going to "cross enemy lines" and go up and speak with the evil Sheik. Well. the upshot of that 'conversation' was that he had no idea how to get from Salisbury to his next match the next night at the Capital Center in Landover. Well of course we had tickets as we were following closely the Sarge/Sheik feud. The next day the Sheik got behind us on Rt. 50 for the 120 mile or so trip to the Cap. Center. No offense meant to the Iron Sheik, but his driving was erratic at best as he rode my bumper the entire way.Apparently he hadn't made the transition completely from camel to motor vehicle. Anyway to top things off, the third driver in the convoy was the man he defeated approx. four months prior at MSG for the 'WWF' title, that being Bob Backlund. Evidently he didn't know the Maryland highways that well either. An experience we won't forget and am thankful we made it safely up and back. I'll never know how Backlund felt following an Iranian up Rt. 50 and thinking this wouldn';t be happening if his manager Arnie Skaaland hadn't 'thrown in the towel' thereby giving the Sheik the Championship belt.

RESPONSE FROM KEVIN ECK: That is a great story!

I CAN NOT WAIT FOR SHEIK INTERVIEW !! He's gotten more notoriety the last couple years for his appearances and interviews than he ever got while being WWF champion . This may top your Steiner interview Kevin . That is if your'e able to use any of it . I hope he didn't try to " humble" you Kev !

From 1998 till early this year I know Padonia has been getting them, I'll have to double check. If they stopped that shows something about the interest level in the product because they showed WCW PPV's all the way till the end of 2000.
