Stacy Keibler returning to TV
Stacy Keibler told me that she is shooting an episode of the ABC drama October Road this week. The Rosedale native and former WWE diva said that she will have a recurring role on the series, which also features Keibler’s boyfriend, Geoff Stults.
The series premieres on Thanksgiving (Nov. 22) and then moves to its regularly scheduled spot on Monday nights. Keibler debuts in Episode 12, which won’t air until after the first of the year.
She played recurring characters last season on ABC’s What About Brian and George Lopez, but neither show was picked up this fall.
Keibler, by the way, was No. 1 on a list of all-time favorite women wrestlers on SI.com earlier this week. She was followed by Trish Stratus, Miss Elizabeth – who was not really a wrestler – Chyna and Wendi Richter. It’s nice to be No. 1, but Keibler probably would have been more flattered had they not misspelled her first name (they added an “e”) or referred to her WCW character as “Miss Handcock.” It was “Hancock.”

Nice to see Stacy is still around doing things, though with the current writer's strike going on, I'm surprised they are still doing a new show unless the scripts are already completed. Would be a shame for her to lose a job because of that stupid strike.
RESPONSE FROM KEVIN ECK: According to Stacy, at least 12 episodes of the show have been completed.

It's funny that you said that "Miss Handcock" was wrong. Actually, that was supposed to be the original way they were going to spell the name for Stacy's character. However, Turner Broadcasting execs were concerned by the risque nature of the name, and they ended up dropping the "D" from the name. So, technically, it was right, but I guess for all intents and purposes, it can be considered "wrong," since that version wasn't used as the official character name.
RESPONSE FROM KEVIN ECK: You have the story partially right. Indeed, the character was originally named "Miss Handcock." I'm not sure who came up with it, but I think it was either Vince Russo or Bill Banks. I'm sure whoever thought of it was certain the name sounded just naughty enough to get 10-year-old boys to giggle. The name change to "Miss Hancock" was not a directive from nervous Turner execs, however. It was a decision made by my boss at WCW Magazine, publisher Ken Leiker. He thought the name was so juvenile that he decided to drop the "d" when referring to the character in the magazine. From that point on, the character was always referred to as "Miss Hancock."

does anyone know what role she will play in the show?
RESPONSE FROM KEVIN ECK: Her character's name is Rory Dunlop, but I don't have any other details.
