Towson gets verbal from Frank Mason
Towson University scored another recruiting coup Thursday when Petersburg, Va., High star Frank Mason made a verbal commitment to play for the Tigers starting in 2012.
Towson beat out George Mason -- considered the frontrunner -- along with VCU, Kent State and Virginia Tech to get the 5-11, 160-pound, shoot-first point guard.
Mason, player of the year as a junior in Virginia's Central District, averaged 27.4 points, 3.8 assists and 2.7 steals a game last season. He also hit 63 three-point shots. The Crimson Wave is 82-6 in Mason's three seasons. His AAU team was Team Loaded.
