LeBron, title would have meant more in Cleveland

LeBron James really told Cleveland fans. He's laughing all the way to the NBA Finals. Should I be upset that a team with three of the best players in the NBA, arguably two of the best five, has made it to the Finals? That James thinks he's right?

I'm not mad about that at all. But I am mad as hell about James' sudden ability to hit big shots. Where was that last year against the Celtics in the playoffs? Or in 2007, when the Cavs were being swept by the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals?

Does James really think winning a title with the Heat is going to feel at all like it would have had he won a championship in Cleveland with his hometown Cavs? To me it's going to feel a little hollow. He'll never get his reputation back.

Will he continue to take -- and make -- big shots against the Dallas Mavericks? Or will he hand off to Dwyane Wade? Remember, James has a history of coming up small, from the championship series against the Spurs to the Celtics playoff series. He never looked smaller than when he was announcing "The Decision" on ESPN last summer.

Here's hoping that the Cavs, with two of the first four picks, find a way to become competitive again and deliver a championship to Cleveland. The city deserves it, even more than LeBron James.

And if he wins one with the Heat over the next few weeks? Who cares.

No disrespect, but you're an idiot. Who cares? Obviously YOU considering you took the time to write this moronic article about the BEST player in the NBA. Yes the best, though I'm sure it hurts you to admit this to yourself. As long as you're aware Thats all that matters, and by now, I'm sure you do.

Can you really blame a guy for wanting to get the hell out of Ohio? People have been streaming out of Ohio like rats from a sinking ship for decades- I swear the state could fix its finances simply by installing toll booths on outbound interstate lanes.

Yes, LeBron is a giant d**chebag but we all knew that well before "The Decision", didn't we? He's a self-important, overhyped, manchild who lacks the confidence to lead a team to greatness, and carry it in the biggest moment. His cowardly move to Miami was basically an admission of this- despite all the spectacle. And all of this was just as true a year ago while he still wore a Cleveland jersey as it is today.

What a stupid post...number 1, how EXACTLY do you know how it's going to feel TO HIM? Number 2, what reputation does he need to get back? Did he kill someone? Commit armed robbery? Fail a drug test? Assault someone? Torture and kill dogs? No, he exercised his rights to work for another employer...no, maybe he handled it badly, but if that's the worst we can say about James, then I'd say he must be a pretty decent fellow.

I have no problem with or anger with LeBron over doing what plenty of people in every profession do, i.e., change jobs...I do, however, have plenty of disgust for arrogant media scum like you who just can't deal with the fact that LeBron didn't behave like a trained monkey and make a decision YOU decided he should have made...

Let it go, bro.

why you mad though?

I hope Lebron wins his first ring. This is america a player can go to where ever he or she wants to play. He gave cleveland 7 good years . Made the owner RICH because of his selling power. People forget that. For that owner to make those remarks about Lebron was plain RACIST. Do your thang Lebron party like a rock star when you win your ring. In MIAMI WOW

Who cares that Lebron left, he played for an incredibly dysfunctional organization. Cleveland's idea of supporting Lebron was having Lebron go out and recruit players himself, management never did it. The best coach they ever got Lebron was Mike Brown, who's not exactly in the top teir of coaches.

Just look at the incredibly childish and immature letter the Cav's owner wrote after Lebron left. Could that have been more pathetic and sad? I don't blame Lebron for leaving, the way he did it was a little disheartening, but I don't blame him for leaving.

Stay in Cleveland and play with castoffs and aging Shaquille O'Neils? Or go to Miami and play with 2 other top players? If the Heat go on to win 3 or 4 championships do you really think people will say how Lebron had to leave Cleveland to win or how Lebron, Wade and Bosh established a dynasty? My bet is 10 years after the fact people will be talking about the latter, while the select few still harp on the former.

Stop hatin....... Grow up, Lebron James did all he could for that franchise and it just wasn't meant to be. Since he left Cleveland they haven't and, even before he arrived, they hadn't shown anything that said they deserve a Championship. So get over yourself and stop acting like a jilted lover.

waoo! you are still full of hate. get over it mr. fritz

What happened to LeBron with the cavs is the same as what happened last night with Rose and the Bulls. The game was solely on Rose's shoulders to win, and that's an extreme amount of pressure, especially when you had already won 62 games and 2 playoff series previously. It was unreasonable to expect him to do it all himself. Same goes for LeBron in Cleveland. Fortunately for Rose unlike in Cleveland Chicago will be willing to spend the money to pick up someone to take the burden off Rose. In 7 years there was not one player on the cavs who would have been the no. 1 or no. 2 on anyone's team aside from lebron.

Jordan had help. Kobe had help. Pierce had help. LeBron was never going to get help, his hand was forced.

It seems to me that emotion should be left at the door.

It should never be about the name on the back, it is always about the name on the front.

You can be bitter than he left, but take the high road concerning him in the future. As with Dan Gilbert, it only makes you come to light as the jaded girlfriend of the guy who married another woman.

No offense but...what are you talking about? Lebron was super clutch in 2007 against the Pistons and he was only 22 years old. Lebron has hit 5 game winning playoff shots before this season. Never get his reputation back? Everyone is saying he is now the best player on the planet and today Pippen said he may be better than Jordan. Looks small and hands off to Wade? Did you bother to watch any of the playoffs? Lebron has hit big shot after big shot and has done so throughout his career. That series against Boston that you keep mentioning...he averaged 24 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists per game. Hey if Magic had Kareem and Worthy, Jordan had Pippen and Rodman, Kobe had Shaq/Gasol and Bird had Mchale and PArrish you can't blame Lebron for wanting what those other players had - hall of fame teamates. You obviously don't watch a lot of basketball so I will fill you in on something: Lebron is the best player on the planet and is one of the most clutch players of the past 20 years. Yes he was poor in the NBA finals when he was 22 years old but Jordan hadn't even gone to the finals until he was 28.

Really? It's a little ignorant to judge him at this junction. I don't think he cares one way or another what you or anyone else thinks (obviously, he went to miami). He just wants a ring, why ppl still want to hate him for not waiting to do it alone with NO supporting cast will be a question forever unknow.

This is one of the most ridiculous and asinine posts I've ever read. It reads like a paid announcement sponsored by Dan Gilbert. Are you from Cleveland or somewhere close by? If so, you should leave your bias at the door.

If you really believe that James is going to feel differently if he wins a ring with the Heat vs. winning one with the Cavs, you're pretty naive. Guys want to wear the jewelry and they don't care whether the ring says Cleveland or Miami on it. It may be hollow only to you. As for getting his reputation back, other than in Cleveland, there hasn't been any lasting effect on James. People have focused on his basketball as they should.

As for "who cares" if he wins one with the Heat, I can think of about 3.5 million South Florida residents who might.

I understand the angst in Cleveland and I hope they use their draft choices to build their team. However, other than announce his decision on ESPN which was a dumb thing to do, James was vilified by people like you for doing absolutely nothing wrong. In an age where players routinely vow to break or renegoiate their contracts by sitting out or not showing up at training camp, James played out his contract. He had a right under the CBA to sign elsewhere and he exercised that right. He made a ton of money for his owner and increased the value of the Cavs'
franchise. Very little of this was conveyed by Dan Gilbert and reported by the media. Perhaps the reaction was driven by Cleveland based or biased reporters.

You probably think Art Modell should never be admitted to the Hall of Fame
also for leaving Cleveland.

You ask who cares if James wins a title....not me, never was a fan of his and absolutely no fan of his, or the team he plays for, after the charade the league and player's association left happen with Miami signing those 3 last summer!!! Just another example of the league catering to their "chosen ones"!!
And James' mother bought that Hummer on her own back before he was drafted...yeah right.........

Cleveland is a beautiful city. LeBron is a creep. And Art Modell should never get anywhere near Canton.

All the prima donna's bootlicks can't quit fondling his undercarriage now...

He's a quitter, not at all Jordan-like, and a liar. He left his hometown (Northeast Ohio is one area, known as Greater Cleveland Akron-Canton)in the midst of the biggest recession since the Great Depression taking billions in revenue with him. He left working fans who whole heartedly bought into his BS of "promise a championship", without work, a hero for their kids, or a team to really root for (it's just laundry unfortunately, and you fools seem to think that's GOOD).

He left the people who he was raised with, the community that reared him, in the dust...and without a prayer economically.

He's an opportunist, a liar, a coward, and a self serving prima donna...but you ball washers just love that egomaniacal crap huh? You love disloyalty and inconsistant men of no principles? Guys who stab their hometown fans in the back? Guys who make BAD business decisions (see his shoe, jersey (despite his number change) sales, and his new image as Darth Vader, not Luke Skywalker).

You call truth telling "hating", and anyone who questions a athlete/sociopath a "racist". Well I'm not white, so stfu...and it isn't hating to call out a backstabber.

Because of his selfish "decision" (betrayal) on ESPN (a network I no longer watch AT ALL), thousands of REAL Clevelanders and Northeast Ohioans were laid off at what was called in 2008 "ground zero for the housing market". He doesn't care, you don't care....but we do.

He will never live or visit leisurely our area again. Like Art Modell, Clevelanders do not take kindly to sellouts and backstabbers...and we NEVER forget or let ANYTHING go.

Screw you LBJ ball suckers. You'd root for Benedict Arnold if he wasn't white and won a championship...all you fair weather "fans" care about is BS...you don't care about the game at all.

ALL OF DIS IS JUS 4 LEBRON GOIN ON THE HEATS..EVERYONE IS JUS HATIN ON LEBRON..NO ONE NEVA USE TO HATE HIM WEN HE WAS ON THE CAVS..SO Y YAL HATE HIM NA..ITS ONLY A GAME..HE WANTS A RING HOW HARD IS DAT 4 YALL 2 UNDERSTAND..HE DOIN WATS BET 4 HIM NOT YALL..HE REALLY DNT ARE WHAT YAL SAY CUZ YAL IS A BUNCH OF HATERS EN GETIN NO WHERE OTHER DAN HATIN BIG TIME..

Why exactly does Cleveland "DESERVE" a championship? Have they been harder working fans than all the other NBA fans?
