Ryan, Favre and the wild world of sports
Remember when people actually turned to the sports section to get away from the troubles of the world? OK, me neither.
I ask because it's hard to tell which story the New York tabloids are delighting in the most right now: Rex Ryan and the "Footgate" saga or the newest allegations in the tawdry Brett Favre-Jenn Sterger texting scandal.
If you're not up on the Favre-Sterger drama, this is how sordid it's gotten: the embattled Minnesota Vikings quarterback is now being accused of asking Sterger for a video of her masturbating.
As for Ryan, the embattled head coach of the New York Jets head coach, the tabloids are gleefully recounting how uncomfortable he looked at his weekly news conference as he deflected one question after the other about the videos that have now become a must-see on the Internet that purport to show Ryan and his wife suggestively discussing their, um, foot fetish.
Hoo, boy. Still, you had to give props to the New York Daily News editor who came up with the headline for Gary Myer's column today: "Rex forced to do some sole-searching."
Kind of makes you long for a good story about the X's and O's of the cover-2 defense.
