When words fail . . .

Dave Trembley's post-game remarks after the Orioles 4-3 loss to the Kansas City Royals last night might have set a club record for brevity.

And the marked uneasiness of his exchange with the media, as captured by the MASN TV cameras and microphones, might have set some sort of record, too.

But the Orioles manager was right to keep his comments brief.

What more could he say after another miserable loss, on another miserable rainy night, with hardly anyone in the stands?

(The club announced attendance at 9,299, the second smallest crowd in Camden Yards history. But the number of people actually in the seats was probably less than a third of that.)

If the Orioles lose tonight -- and it's a distinct possibility since they face Royals ace Zach Greinke, 1-4 but with a 2.73 ERA -- Trembley's post-game presser figures to be even briefer.

The embattled O's manager is a class act, always willing to answer the tough questions about his team's horrible play.

But, really, what more is there to say when the team keeps playing so poorly, making fielding mistakes and base-running errors and failing to hit in the clutch?

As the great Earl Weaver once growled after a terrible Orioles loss back in the day: "You saw it. Write it."

And that was the end of his remarks.

I wonder if the Orioles getting swept by the Royals will be enough to get Tremblin' Dave fired. I'm sure we'll find out.

Sheez, no questions from the inquisitive B-More media may been why the presser was so brief. First we suffer inept baseball then a fraidy-cat media. Perhaps zero accountability has aided the demise of this once proud organization. Some mirror time may be in order for the Sun.

WHEN will Mr Dave be FIRED?

Is it time to root for Ralph and the Terps again? Baseball is over in Baltimore! What a tragedy..........

Concerning the baserunning gaff by Patterson on the fly ball to right........ isn't there a third base coach who should be fired? Why else do you stick someone out in the coaching box, but to coach!!

what do they expect. there is nothing on the field to make you want to go. the seats are wet. and it's chilly. I wouldn't have gone with free tickets. and I'm still a fan. Might be worth it tonight just so you can say you saw Greinke pitch. might even get to see a no hitter.

I think Earl Weaver is about 79 years old. I bet he could still instill some life into this team. Seeing Trembley and the current team make me long for the days of Earl and the Robinsons.

Kevin, do you think Angelos knows how horrible watching this "team" is to the fans? You would think with all his success in the courtroom it would be tearing him up to lose all the time!

How pathetic did DT look and sound last night? Reminded me of my little league coach when he said that the team tried real hard and did the best they could but were not good enough. Maybe he should take the team out for snowballs like our coach did to make us feel better. Is this really a leader of men and the best this trainwreck of a team can come up with. That was embarrassing not only to him but to the people responsible for allowing him to continue in his position as manager.

Somebody please show DT the tape of Freddi Gonzalez benching Hanley Ramirez for not hustling. PLEASE. There is no accountability on this team. Jog to first, no problem, run your team out of an inning, no problem, boot a ball and dog it, no problem. I thought we were gonna see the new and improved DT this year. Didn't he say there was gonna be no more Mr Nice Guy?? The inmates are running the asylum...AGAIN. Send this guy back to Disneyworld with the rest of the Animatronic's. Uh oh..a Lefty's comin up, gotta take out the guy that just got 4 in row out.. Must match up...must match up..DT the by the book robot. A 10 yr old could manage that way. And no I'm not sayin a change is gonna instantly improve this team. I just know that he's not the guy that will.

I'm guessing Earl Weaver said that quote within the last two months of the 1986 season.
