Take a deep breath, jittery O's fans

The panicky e-mails are rolling in already.

"The Orioles have lost 5 of 6 spring training games!" one wailed. "Andy MacPhail should be looking for another job . . ."

Hoo, boy. What can you do with these people, except to tell 'em to calm down and try a yoga class?

Hey, people, it's spring training. It's a time for ballplayers to get ready for the new season -- and that's all it is. Most of the time, the games mean absolutely nothing.

Pitchers are working on certain things, hitters are working on certain things -- the final score is almost an after-thought.

We've all seen teams go out and kill during the Grapefruit League season and end up being a bust when the games really count.

And we've all seen teams look lost in their spring training games and go on to have terrific regular seasons.

 It's only March 9, people.

Chill with the gloom-and-doom obsessing over the Orioles right now.

Save that stuff for the regular season.

Amen, Mr. Cow

kevin, i am not obsessing
over the orioles, they are
a second rate major league
baseball team....

thirteeen losing seasons
and a ton of mis-management,
alienating brooks robinson
and other old oriole all time
greats...

they should sell and let
someone who cares own the
team... how about cal??????

Anyone whining about the Orioles' record so far obviously doesn't remember those years where the team did exceptionally well in Spring Training only to add to the growing total of consecutive losing seasons when all was said and done.

please don't assume that these idiots represent the majority of orioles fan. i know it is hard to tell for you since you do a sports call in show. cause that's filled with idiots too.

Just face the facts, new faces , old faces , this team will still finish below 500 and it will be more of the same old thing, until the O's get serious and start to sign a few of the more sought after free agents they will continue to LOSE!!!

I respectfully disagree. The Orioles are losing games in exactly the same way they lost all last year--after building a lead and then making an ill-advised shift to some bullpen-dweller with a 17-run ERA. I don't see anything changing once Opening Day rolls around. One thing you can say for the O's, they're consistent.

DERICK ANDERSON is AVAILABLE,. WHAT ARE tHEY WAITING FOR<. HE<WILL GO TO PITTSBURGH ,. they need a back-up qb. and anderson would be great with a front line-.

Good post, anyone REALLY WORRIED about this need to relax! Just put that thumb in your mouth and hold it. For you really loud whiners, keep holding... keep holding... keep holding....

Not to mention the lions share of the innings go to the cubs, so to speak, or minor leaguers...so I second the emotion; Relax people, save your bedrudgery for the real season. Turn on some college basketball and watch athletes who play for the name on the front of their jersey's!
