What to look for tonight: Baltimore!
Important reminder (or unimportant reminder, depending on which side of the uni-fence you fall): Tonight at Texas, the Orioles unveil their new road jerseys, which prominently feature the word "Baltimore" across the chest.

If you've been in a cave, here's the full background from Jeff Zrebiec's Sun story that first broke the news last June.

Big surprise: WNST is taking full credit.

And Orioles Hangout discusses the unveiling.

I for one am impressed with the "Baltimore" design used for the road uniforms. The slight diagonally upward slant and the long underline coming down from the "e" look pretty sharp.
As for whether it's a big deal or not: sports teams are one of the few remaining enterprises that promote local/regional affiliation. In a world of national/global corporations and franchises, it's important to have a sense of connection to a locality, especially when the team "representing" that locality goes on to win a championship. The relationship between sports players and the fans that root for them locally should not be taken for granted (just ask an old Baltimore Colts fan).
