Bring on the Texans

My gut tells me that the Cincinnati Bengals can take the Texans on the road this weekend, but I think it would help the Ravens' chances of reaching the Super Bowl if Houston was the first team to visit M&T Bank Stadium for a playoff game during the John Harbaugh era.

That's open to debate, of course. The Steelers likely will show up here if the Bengals win, and I know a lot of fans think this would be a great time to catch them. The Steelers are very banged up and will be playing with a gimpy Ben Roethlisberger and without Rashard Mendenhall, so they might not even get past the Broncos. If they do, however, I'd like to see them face the Patriots and give both of those teams a chance to punch themselves out before the AFC championship game.

Can you say bad things here about the O's & the owner? You sure can't at a MASN blog. It better be nicey nice & cheerleading or the comment doesn't get posted.

I agree with that but I must say I think the Bengals at this point are more capable of knocking off the Patriots than the Steelers due to injuries. Although the Steelers have the top rated defense, I think they are too banged up offensively to put up points against New England even if they are one of the worst in the league. The Bengals are more balanced on both sides of the ball. At this point, no one can be certain the Steelers will even beat the Broncos on the road. The Steelers barely beat the Browns.

I think the Bengals beat the Texans and Tebow will beat the Steelers. The Bengals go to New England and win there. The Patriots have played poorly their last two games allowing the Bill and Dolphins to pull a near upset in both. The Bengals will come back to Baltimore and lose a third time while Baltimore makes a trip to Indy.

Well, the Bungles couldn't pull it off although Tebow did. I really thought the Bungles had a good chance. Either way, I think the Squeelers had little chance to beat the Patriots so maybe Tebow can pull it off again. They already played them once and had the lead. The three turnovers killed them. The Pats are pretty weak defensively and the Broncos defense are not that bad. Hopefully Dawkins will be back to help the secondary.

About Peter Schmuck
Peter Schmuck wants you to know that, contrary to popular belief, he is more than just a bon vivant, raconteur and collector of blousy flowered shirts. He is a semi-respected journalist who has covered virtually every sport -- except luge, of course – and tackled issues that transcend the mere games people play. If that isn’t enough to qualify him to provide witty, wide-ranging commentary on the sports world ... and the rest of the world, for that matter ... he is an avid reader of history, biography and the classics, as well as a charming blowhard who pops off on both sports and politics on WBAL Radio. That means you can expect a little of everything in The Schmuck Stops Here, but the major focus will be keeping you up to the minute on Baltimore’s major sports teams and themes, whether it’s throwing up the Orioles lineup the minute it’s announced or updating you on the latest sprained ankle in Owings Mills. Oh, and by the way, that’s Mr. Schmuck to you.
