Sarasota: See you there

Don't know how many of you are going to get down to Sarasota, Fla., for spring training, but I hope a lot of you do -- even you, Wayne -- and look me up. I can be found around the ballpark most days and around the beach most nights. If you want to run into me out on the town -- or make sure that you don't -- take a look at my crude attempt at being a travel writer in Sunday's print edition or right here right now.

Pete- Is this part of your job as awesome as it seems to be? I'd give quite a bit to trade places with you for the next month. Enjoy.

.............................................................................................
Pete's reply: We do actually work, but you'll never hear me complaining about my job. Thanks.

Pete
Im only 15.......I would need a parent or chaperon to hang in the spots that you frequent.

How about you just appease me with some actual reporting of information we can all appreciate.

As far as upscale restaurants go, Crab & Fin located on St. Armand's Circle is probably the best (although mildly pricey) seafood restaurants in the area featuring delicious and exotic daily fish specials. Also the aquarium at Mote Marine Laboratory just north of St. Armand's Circle.

Pete,

I haven't been to Sarasota in over 5 years but the last time I was there, people called me son and I was nearly 60 at the time. The night life probably ends at 10:00 PM.

Im with wayne peters, how about some news on the players progress and views other than the normal stuff you report

Whom is wayne peters?

I believe Tim S that JT was referring to me..read a little slower.

I think JT is alluding to the fact that we dont want excuses and cheapness and most of all insulting our intelligence for starters

we need

A IB not an injured former star
A younger 2B
A true SS..or a warm body
dont get me started about 3B

Guerrero is a waste of time and we paid too much

Out Pitching staff is a cheap mans pipe dream

dont get played as JT was meaning..PA/AM only care about the bottom line

playas

Isnt there a little wayne peters in all of us?

exactly wayne

i couldnt have put it better myself my brother

our team is built on cheapness and fading talent from a faded and cheap hierarchy

I must say wayne you are well versed for a 15 year old, as i am in my late 20s and have experienced much but you see the truth for such a young man

congratas

ok smart guys i get "wayne peters" very funny smart asses

ok smitty now i have proof that was you

I told you I was 15 as a ruse but truth be told i just turned14...so there i got you playa

dont play me cuz i will always know

get a life smitty

Very cool....

I've been away for a few days and loooook, there's my name. Wow guys, what an honor.

And you even have someone agreeing with my impostor, while he himself is the impostor...... How can it get better than that?

For the wayne that blames smitty.... Dude, I don't mind if smitty uses my name... I really don't. I don't care if it's smitty, Jim66, Fang, Ferg, SHAM.... you name em....... doesn't matter.

But really, 'cuz', 'playa', etc.... Who uses those words? Are you the anti cool rep in your household? Did you get your head flushed in the toilet in grade school? You poor fella....

As for you Pete,

SInce you write columns only from time to time, and since you only occasionally put up new subjects on your blog, are you still considered full time for the Sun? Serious question...

Also, since you also work for WBAL, will you become a complete Oriole shrill like the boys over at 1057thefan were?

GO O'S

Sorry, but that wasn't me picking on you wayne. It is funny how people live through you though. You love how you hit one's nerves so often

That was not me at 12:37

but thanks for the love smitty

i will no longer engage you

but thanks for the respect

How nice of wayne to tell (ad nausea) how he has been away for a couple of days as a reason for him not posting lol

yes the world has only desktop PCs and the internet is not yet mobile...hahahaha

oh yeah Poog , if that is your real name....do you think we all are rich with our fancy blackberries and unlimited cell phone use?

i am hear to tell you that i do in fact share a "desktop" with my mother and her latest boyfriend

so no I dont have use of a PC everyday and even if I did I have much more important sites to visit and share my considerable opinions

but thanks for the respect

yes wayne my name is actually Poog

does your desktop still have Workgroups for windows or did you upgrade to WinME yet?

Wouldn't it be funny if wayne was Peter Schmuck's pseudonym.

..............................................................................................
Pete's reply: No, but it would be funny if Peter Schmuck was Wayne's psuedonym.

It will be my pleasure to meet you in person some time, Peter. If it is in Sarasota, it won't be this spring.

Thanks for doing this blog. With all of the nonsense that goes on here, I'd probably not do it. Or, at least, a heck of a lot less.

Which only makes me appreciate this that much more. I also appreciate your articles and your work at 'BAL -- sports and non-sports.

Give Bogie a pat on the head from me, too.

About Peter Schmuck
Peter Schmuck wants you to know that, contrary to popular belief, he is more than just a bon vivant, raconteur and collector of blousy flowered shirts. He is a semi-respected journalist who has covered virtually every sport -- except luge, of course – and tackled issues that transcend the mere games people play. If that isn’t enough to qualify him to provide witty, wide-ranging commentary on the sports world ... and the rest of the world, for that matter ... he is an avid reader of history, biography and the classics, as well as a charming blowhard who pops off on both sports and politics on WBAL Radio. That means you can expect a little of everything in The Schmuck Stops Here, but the major focus will be keeping you up to the minute on Baltimore’s major sports teams and themes, whether it’s throwing up the Orioles lineup the minute it’s announced or updating you on the latest sprained ankle in Owings Mills. Oh, and by the way, that’s Mr. Schmuck to you.
