Orioles: Tragic development
What a shocking way to start the new year. Orioles reliever Alfredo Simon has been named as the chief suspect by police in his native Dominican Republic after a 25-year-old man was shot to death and the man's brother was wounded on New Year's Eve.
Here's the Associated Press report, but there isn't much detail yet.
Simon, who is being sought by police, reportedly has denied involvement in the incident to an Orioles official in the Dominican Republic.
Don't really know what to say at this point. For Alfredo's sake, I hope this is a case of mistaken identity, but this is a tragic story no matter who is the culprit. I'm guessing the Orioles will withhold anything but a perfunctory "no comment" until they get more information.

I knew you would try to be me under this subject smitty. It literally shows your class.
But no..... this isn't AM's fault. It is tragic though. Tragic for the person who died obviously.
As for Simon.... I actually had high hopes for him. With further schooling, I felt he could be solid as set up or closer. Let's hope he had nothing to do with this.

Really, Wayne? Really? It's Andy McPhail's fault that two men were shot in the Dominican Republic? That's a joke, right? Honestly, you can't be that stupid. Nobody could be that stupid.

As long as there are waynes in this world we will have stupid comments

This won't matter to Andy. You don't win 2 rings without learning how to adjust. Andy will simply dig into his bag of tricks and come up with a new Simon. This is no big loss. He wasn't a real closer anyway. Koji is our closer, and it's possible he could win the MVP this year. That's right, not the Rolaids relief award, but the MVP.
Pencil in 43 saves and pop the champaign. Simons lost is Koji's gain. Andy gets it done again

Stupidest series of comments I've ever read.
A man died, an Oriole was implicated and you guys call one another silly names. Very classy.

I don't use the term "bag of tricks"
You really have nothing better to do than impersonate me?
That's really sad. you must have a lonely life.

As an O's fan; I like Simon.
As a person; I like Dominicans.
As a Baltimoron; I understand shooting guns on New Years Eve. It is also part of my culture.
Guns are dangerous and not a toy, but they are fun. I hope everyone on the blog was as safe as possible. All the best to Simon and the victims of the crime.
