Guess that's why they call them the O's
It would be simple enough to chalk up this latest offensive disappearing act to the fine command of Mariners starter Cliff Lee, but we're way beyond any individual performance at this point.
Going into tonight's game, the Orioles had scored two runs or fewer in 15 of their first 32 games, and they appear ready to make it 16 of 33.
Damning offensive stat: Since the Orioles scored their seventh run in Saturday's surprising victory over Francisco Liriano and the Twins, they have scored just one run on 13 hits over 25 innings entering the seventh inning tonight.
Instant update: The O's finally snapped a scoreless streak of 19 2/3 innings with a run in the bottom of the seventh.

Hey Pete, I asked Jeff the same question but what is your take? Why is Crowley still employed by the Orioles. The players can't hit and lack any plate disciple. Seattle fired their batting coach why can't we? Is Crowley another sacred cow like Flannagan that Angelos will insist on keeping around?

Good job Andy MacPhail. I'm sure Angelos is loving that 30 million you saved him.

For all the millions the players make, they should throw up their hands and act like hurting children who can't or won't help themselves to improve.

Amazing to hear Trembley say Hernandez was using his fastball effectively and then stopped. Isn't that what the pitching coach ans manager are for? Tell him in the dugout or on the mound to go back to it?

Mike,
I would love to know how Crowley is still the hitting coach? The message isn't getting through and it's not like he's only been on the job for a few years, as the guy has more lives than Freddy and Jason.

Is it just me, or should the O's poop-can Atkins and let Hughes or Aubrey or Salazar or anybody who has a 1st baseman's glove take his place? The guy pisses me off everytime I have to see him bat. He can't do anything but induce weak pop flies to the outfield (the blooper today was another weakly hit ball - he just got lucky). I would rather see a lowly paid AAAA player do that than a guy who is getting paid way too much. Sure we lose the $$$ no matter what, but at least it's only Angelos' money. Who cares about him anyway?

WE dont need any offense
The offense will be fine
We dont need Dunn, Holliday or Bay

Hurray Orioles OF,
It was hilarious how everyone kept saying:
but the outfield is set
over and over.......... But this is deeper than just the OF we dont have anything a MLB team needs to win

Nobody cares anymore

Obviously, they are the "O's" for all those zerOs they put on the scoreboard!

"We cant sign Holliday"
He will block Reimold!!!
We'll get the same production from Reimold for a lot less!!!
Those apologists know their stuff

It is one thing to have a sound plan (and AM's plan is essentially what the Rays did and the Nationals are doing) and another to execute it well.
Until you have enough credibility to have top-line free agents accept not to far above market rates to play for you, you better be good at identifying and developing some diamonds in the rough. These include draft picks outside the first couple of rounds, and undervalued talent in other systems that you aquire through free agency or minor trades. I am not seeing in this organization enough of an eye for talent or the ability to "coach up" players with less than potential superstar talent.
I do not have a big problem with not getting A. Gonzalez or Holliday. Holliday was not worth what it would have cost to bring him here and AG was not worth losing all of the talent (Matusz or Weiters for starters) to get him.
But there has to be something in between hitting on high round draft picks and trading premier talent for high level prospects on the one hand, and signing big ticket free agents and trading high level prospects for premier talent on the other hand.
Unless this organization can succeed more in that middle ground, there needs to be a regime change.

33 games played. Number of HR's from our 1st basemen (Atkins, Hughes, Wiggington):
ZERO! Ridiculous!

"O's weighed down by anchor of April's losses": are you serious?
So now a team's lousy performance in its previous games can serve as an excuse for it to continue to play poorly? Is there no end to the excuses?
I'll bet IF the O's were to start winning you would say that it was setting up expectations for the team and the pressure to live up to the expectations would be too much, so of course the team would have to start losing again. Ugh.

Since the O's swept the Bosox theyare 2-6. They continue to play at a 54 win clip. Sorry, Peter, they are what they are-perhaps the worst team in Os history.
