Zrebiec: Pie's shoulder (updated)

Orioles beat reporter Jeff Zrebiec checked with Felix Pie today to find out why he hasn't been in the lineup the past few games, and -- sure enough -- he's hurting. He said he's been struggling with some tendinitis in his left shoulder.

"It's not something I'm too worried about,'' Pie said. "I'm just going to get treatment and hopefully I'll be back in a couple of days."

Manager Dave Trembley said today that Pie might return to the lineup as soon as Monday or Tuesday.

"His shoulder is sore more from lifting weights than it is from throwing,'' Trembley said.

Before all you crazy people start, look around baseball's landscape and you will see several big name players with various ailments. All are missing time.

It's really no big deal, it happens every spring, with or without Ray Milland.

Pete,

out of curiosity,

Who is the Orioles strength and conditioning coach ?

............................................................................................
Pete's reply: Joe Hogarty.

Ken,

I just heard u sucking up to tom davis and phil wood on masn

have some dignity man

"tom davis tells it like is"

i got a chuckle out of that one

Wasn't me, man. They don't allow MASN in the prison where I'm serving 20-25 for mopery.

Maybe Pie hurt his shoulder grabbing his bad hamstring.Mark my words,Jonathan Tucker will be on the O's at some point this season.I know Montanez is next up but he always seems to find a way to blow his chances.

I agree with you, John. Tucker looks like an interesting player.

John-Montanez blew his chance because he got hit by a pitch that broke his thumb? You got to be kidding me.What a joke.If Montanez had one third of the chances Felix Pie has gotten he'd be in the lineup somewhere. And why is Ty Wiggington getting so many at bats? That's another joke.We all know what he can do.Swing at the first pitch with men on base, pop up,or hit you the occasional solo home run.How many of those players do we need?

I'm with you, Burt...some of the ridiculous things people say never ceases to amaze me...I mean seriously, how many chances has Montanez legitimately had? He got one chance the season he won the triple crown in AA, and fared reasonably well, only to get pushed back to AAA due to acquisitions made by the Orioles...then when he finally got a 2nd chance, he broke his thumb...so exactly what did he blow?

Pie hurt again???? I've been a Pie supporter for the past year but this is getting ridiculous. It's obvious he's injury prone. Take the best offer for him and move on.

Wigginton could be getting showcased for a trade?

definittely no room for him on the team, although I prefer him to andino

For some peculiar reason the Os dont want last yrs NL all star SS playing any SS this yr

If tejada played SS when itzuris needed an off day, u could just slide wiggy over to 3b and use andinos spot for a more productive player, but macphail is r unning the os and obviously has a thing for andino

too bad he didnt have thing for grant green, at least we'd ahve a SS in the system.

2012 will roll around, green will be the starting SS for oak and hobgood will be eating big macs in AA

ken,

seriously?

the guy was from chicago and couldnt stop gushing over AM and was puckering up big time for tom davis-- the chief media apologist in town (athough that new guy on the MASN blogs is giving him a run for his money in that dept)

About Peter Schmuck
Peter Schmuck wants you to know that, contrary to popular belief, he is more than just a bon vivant, raconteur and collector of blousy flowered shirts. He is a semi-respected journalist who has covered virtually every sport -- except luge, of course – and tackled issues that transcend the mere games people play. If that isn’t enough to qualify him to provide witty, wide-ranging commentary on the sports world ... and the rest of the world, for that matter ... he is an avid reader of history, biography and the classics, as well as a charming blowhard who pops off on both sports and politics on WBAL Radio. That means you can expect a little of everything in The Schmuck Stops Here, but the major focus will be keeping you up to the minute on Baltimore’s major sports teams and themes, whether it’s throwing up the Orioles lineup the minute it’s announced or updating you on the latest sprained ankle in Owings Mills. Oh, and by the way, that’s Mr. Schmuck to you.
