Peter Schmuck wants you to know that, contrary to popular belief, he is more than just a bon vivant, raconteur and collector of blousy flowered shirts. He is a semi-respected journalist who has covered virtually every sport -- except luge, of course – and tackled issues that transcend the mere games people play. If that isn’t enough to qualify him to provide witty, wide-ranging commentary on the sports world ... and the rest of the world, for that matter ... he is an avid reader of history, biography and the classics, as well as a charming blowhard who pops off on both sports and politics on WBAL Radio. That means you can expect a little of everything in
The Schmuck Stops Here, but the major focus will be keeping you up to the minute on Baltimore’s major sports teams and themes, whether it’s throwing up the Orioles lineup the minute it’s announced or updating you on the latest sprained ankle in Owings Mills. Oh, and by the way, that’s Mr. Schmuck to you.

Now see... that's just absent-minded managing.
If you're going to have both Garrett Atkins and Michael Aubrey in the lineup, why would you put iron-gloved Atkins at 1B and slick-fielding Aubrey at DH ?
I know, I know..... Atkins needs the work in the field more than Aubrey, and that's what spring training is all about.
But I still say put your best fielders on the field...... especially with Tejada at 3B and Wigginton at 2B.
This club needs some wins, whether they count or not.

Bear:
I do not know what you expected of this team? Spring training is for experimentation and to work on areas a player needed to improve. Although I am not happy with the spring record, I would be very unhappy with a good record because in case you haven't noticed teams with great spring training records usually do not do well come April 6 against the starting lineup of other squads.
The reality check is i hope the Orioles win another 10 games over last year and this season will a step in the right direction. I think a 500 season is not going to happen until 2012 or 13. In the AL East, third place is better than winning two other divisions. I do not expect the Orioles to win the division or come in second under the present ownership.
Do yourself a favor and take off the rose glasses. A pig ear will never become a velvet purse. The Orioles will ( NEVER) have players to contend with the Yankees and the Red Sox!!!! I am not sue they could afford to compete!

Eh, George?
I believe the expression is: You can't make a SILK purse out of a SOW'S ear.
(Anyone remember Alex Grammas, my near name sake, the Red's 3B coach in the '70 WS?)

AGeorge...
I'm not sure how you think anything you said in your post addressed anything I said in mine, but if it makes you feel better, then by all means knock yourself out.
As of ight now, Trembley has put together lineups which have won two (2) games so far this spring.
If there is any "experimenting to be done, I would suggest he try to put a winning lineup on the field before this team becomes way too comfortable with and accustomed to losing.
You do that with wise and insightful use of the players you have.
I'll say it once more, if you have both Atkins and Aubrey in the lineup, then Atkins should be the DH and Aubrey should play 1B, not the other way around.
While we're on the subject, Adam Jones has no business leading off, either.
As for your paraphrasing of Jesus, you cannot make ANYTHING silk out of a sow's ear.
Therefore, tell it to Trembley, not me.
See, playing first base is the purse, while Atkins is the sow's ear and Aubrey is silk.

Bear:
Jesus said don't throw your pearls before swine; he never said anything about silk purses and sows' ears.
We don't know baseball or the Bible.
