Steve Johnson returns

The Orioles announced today that pitcher Steve Johnson, who was claimed from the Orioles in the Rule 5 Draft, has been returned to the O's by the San Francisco Giants.

The Giants had to pay the O's $50,000 when they drafted Johnson, who is the son of former Orioles pitcher and current MASN baseball analyst Dave Johnson, a draft fee of $50,000. Since the Giants were not willing to keep him on the major league roster all season, they were required to waive him and then offer him back to the O's for half the draft price. The Orioles, of course, were more than happy to take him back.

Johnson will be assigned to the Double-A Bowie Baysox roster and will report to minor league camp in Sarasota.

One for the naysayers who lambasted Andy MacPhail for not protecting Johnson in the draft. Guys, we need to trust this man's acumen, he is the one gainfully employed as the general manager of a major league baseball team. You are not. And sorry, GM of a fantasy team doesn't count. Glad to have Steve back in the fold, does appear from his numbers (six walks and a hit batsman) that's his a bit overwhelmed right now, so Bowie sounds like just the tonic. Go O's!

maxmorf, I agree with you, as Andy was blasted over not protecting Johnson, but he was right. I trust Andy, but I think a lot fans are so angry over the last 12 years and the horrible decisions made by PA since the wire to wire season that they have trouble seeing there are a lot of positive things going on around here. It's going to take some time, but the O's are going in the right direction.

Well, I wasn't one of the naysayers about this one.... Imagine that!

I must ask though... Why all the excitement? Is it because he's Dave Johnson's son?

Ok, we have another pitching prospect. Meaning, he has a less than 50% chance of ever being a regular pitcher in the major leagues.

And for those giving AM credit... Are you serious? You do realize it was pure luck (or not - depending how Steve turns out) that the O's got him back?

How about we just let the kid pitch in the minors - without all the usual hype? Can we do that for once?

The previous posters got it right! Lots of people don't understand Rule 5, and get all flustered when a player is claimed. Essentially, a team would have to take a player who is not among our top 40, and keep him as one of their top 25 all season. In the rare cases where a team actually loses a player through Rule 5, it's almost always one of the best teams in baseball, which has so much talent that even their castoffs can help one of the weaker teams. The O's have some problems, but "too many MLB-ready players" is not among them.

Jose Morban...we kept him..anybody know where he is now?

And Wayne was right again, of course. If Macphail hung him out to dry and he got toasted this spring and dumped by the Giants, should we be doing handstands that he is back? Let's not go overboard with this Macphail is a genius thing, I have seen indepependent media reports on Johnson and they don't exactly paint him as the next Roy Halliday. If somebody asked you to rate your top 20 employees in order, how hard would that be? Duh!

I'm with Gil and wayne on this one.

Even before his ST struggles, it was clear, to any sane person, that Johnson wasn't ready for the show.

Now, the kid is back, and that's nice, since he's a hometown player, but why does MacPhail deserve any praise for this?

As Gil has said several times before, we all know that Andy's a great draft/develop/trade guy. When he does something good for the farm, that's just Andy being Andy. I'll start doing cartwheels when he breaks away from his M.O. and signs a big free agent or two.

The above posts illustrate so much regarding the naysayers of Macphail it's a hoot.
Like maxmorf said there is very good reason why Andy Macphail is GM and the posters are something else.
It just shows we are beginning to show some depth in the system and it also illustrates that AM knows how to and who to put on the 40 man. A small but important part of being a successful GM.
So for Sherrill we still have a highly rated power hitting 3rd baseman and a pssible good bullpen guy. One of the many good to great trades he has made.

Gil,
If you have 25 employees you would really like to keep and are outstanding workers, it's not so simple. Duh?

Is there anything that prevents the player from playing poorly so he gets returned to the team? Just curious.

fellas, there were posters who KILLED the orioles for letting this guy go. Point is, every move the Os make, there's an over reaction one or both ways. That's why it'll be funny to watch the cartwheels getting turned over 3 wins in a row in teh G-fruit league. Like Wayne says, and its one of the few things we agree on, winning trumps losing...but its still just spring training. And Wayne, dad gummit, it would be nice if the kid was allowed to succeed or fail without the hype.

I'm with Wayne and Gil! This is the same guy that gave us last years opening day rotation with Eaton and Hill! The Orioles are too obsessed with former Orioles and sons of former Orioles! Johnson at best is a finesse pitcher who may become a long reliever. The only point I'll disagree with Wayne is I wish 50% of our pitching prospects panned out!

Just remember, I told you so!

The truth will set you free!

Speaking of winning trumping losing, the O's won today despite taking a minor league team to face the Twins.

Highlights:

David Hernandez pitched 3.2 innings, striking out two and walking one.

Justin Turner went 2-4, continuing to swing a hot bat in Roberts' absence.

Darkhorse bullpen candidate Josh Perrault pitched another scoreless inning to close out the game.

All of this against Scott Baker and something close to Minnesota's Opening Day lineup.

Not bad.

Things are always better around here when Keith Rowe isn't around.

I don't mind negativity, but when you make yourself out to be an elitist jackass at the same time, I've got to say, it bugs me a little...

The reason we had Eaton and Hill etc. in the opening day lineup was that it was pretty obvious that some of the young guys like Matusz and Bergesen and Tillman and Arietta might be ready by midseason to bump the low priced rentals....
and guess what happened???
Exactly that....
Hardly a reason to bash macphail, in fact it showed a good plan in place

liberated,

Seriously? You're going to spin the Eaton, Hill mess in such a way?

It doesn't matter to you that Tillman and Matusz were shut down early (as they should have been) and did I miss Arietta coming up?

Please stop! This is a major league baseball team, and the object is to win games. The yet again 2nd half collapse was embarrassing and painful.

Fans pay a lot of money to sit in those stands, and they deserve a respectable product. 64 wins is not respectable. Neither would be 74.

Wayne,
Not spinning anything. You think Macphail didn't know what he was getting with those guys? You think he thought they would turn into Cy Young?
No, he stated his plan all along was to give the young guys some time in AAA and bring them up when they showed they were ready. As far as Arietta, I was pointing out it could have been him....or it could have been the others...
You would not make a good GM.
You don't seem to make a good fan for that matter.

liberated,

Just something you should know.....

Young. developing pitchers are not players you count on for dependable 2nd half additions. Usually, you want to limit the number of innings youngsters throw, thus in all likelihood, they'll be shut down prior to the end of the major league season.

That doesn't mean you can't bring them up for a look, as te O's did in 2009.

Eaton and Hill were disasters.... pure and simple!

So if your theory wasn't spin, then well...... nevermind!

not brooks

As you say, "it was clear, to any sane person, that Johnson wasn't ready for the show", which is why AM didn't protect him.

No, he's not in line for effusive praise, but neither should he have been in line for some of the criticism he got at the time.

This place is getting to be annoying and cumbersome to read. The major stink that was raised when Steve got drafted in the Rule V was over the top. The psychotics and i told you so'ers are even worse.

I think I'll just stick to posting what the TIdes' players are doing once Norfolk's season starts.

I do have over 25 employees and used to have 35. You bet your ass it was tough to rate them pragmatically and release them a little at a time over the last few years. It hurts. Some of them were with me for 25 years and I kept employees with me less than five.

I have also coached 14 to 19 year old American Legion Baseball in York for over 20 years. I rate my players every Spring becuase 80 kids come out and I can only carry 16. I cut my own 14 year old son Saturday and two of his friends yesterday.

~~~~~~~~
You can say it until you are blue in the face but you are wrong. Not my opinion but fact. This is a major league baseball team and as such it is a business and its primary "object" is to make a profit for its owner(s). That is just plain a fact whether you like it or not.
If those fans do not like the product, they don't have to buy it. That is their right as consumers. "deserve" has nothing to do with it. Consumers perhaps "deserve" a Whopper or Big Mac without enough fat and salt to kill them but their "right" is to not buy it.
You don't like the product, exercise your right to not pay for it. But whining . . . and yes it IS whining . . . about what you deserve is just a waste of your right to free speech. Go cry to Obama . . . he cares what you think you deserve and will destroy the country to give it to you.
AM is a bad GM for the Orioles. Who cares if we get to keep a prospect when this team is going to lose close to 100 again?!?!
MacFail is just a puppet for Angelos. Soon Cal will manage the Orioles also to help get people to buy into the lie even further while Angelos collects fat stacks of cash and gets blown while eating a leg of lamb!!
C'mon, Lucky.
No politics. It has nothing to do with baseball.
AM is the best GM ever what more could you people want??
No cleanup hitter
No ace
No manager
No leadoff man
Nothing
And that’s why I love the guy
GO RED SOX!!!!!
Listen up Oriole fans!
Your owner doesn’t give a shit about you so come over to the WS champs. We got the best GM/owner combo in the bigs. When you root for us it means no more depressing summers rooting for a team that hates your guts. Cut the cord and don’t root for the red sox.
C'mon, Lucky.
No politics. It has nothing to do with baseball.
~~~~~~~~~~~~

Sorry, I must have missed the rulebook you apparently created while I wasn't looking.

Lucky, it goes back to the fury (both sides) that erupted around here when Pete made that Birther joke. Don't you remember that?

I am a Detroit Tigers fan living in DC and someone at work told me about this blog. The joke around the office is how shitty it is and how bad baseball and living in Baltimore must be. Oh well don’t give up O’s fans you got the plan and MASN commercials :) GO TIGERS!

THE ORIOLES ARE MOVING MUHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH

Anyone wanna place a bet on the next "fan of another team" who posts here?

Since they never do, yet we've gotten 3 in the last 15 minutes, it's pretty much obvious that it is the work of one sad, lonely person.

How about instead we take bets on who it is...

You fans and baseball wannabes need to listen up!!! Look at my watch......

That watch costs more than you car. I made $970,000 last year. How much'd you make? You see pal, that's who I am, and you're nothing. Nice guy? I don't give a shit. Good father? Fuck you! Go home and play with your kids. You wanna work here - close! You think this is abuse? You think this is abuse, you cocksucker? You can't take this, how can you take the abuse you get on a sit? You don't like it, leave. _I_ can go out there tonight with the materials you've got and make myself $15,000. Tonight! In two hours! Can you? Can YOU? Go and do likewise. A-I-D-A. Get mad you son of a bitches. get mad. You want to know what it takes to sell the Orioles? It takes BRASS BALLS to sell the orioles. Go and do likewise gents. Money's out there. You pick it up, it's yours. You don't, I got no sympathy for you. You wanna go out on those sits tonight and close, CLOSE. It's yours. If not you're gonna be shining my shoes. And you know what you'll be saying - a bunch of losers sittin' around in a bar. 'Oh yeah. I used to be a salesman. It's a tough racket.' These are the new leads. These are the Angelos leads. And to you they're gold, and you don't get them. Why? Because to give them to you is just throwing them away. They're for closers. I'd wish you good luck but you wouldn't know what to do with it if you got it. And to answer you question, pal, why am I here? I came here because Mitch and Murray asked me to. They asked me for a favor. I said the real favor, follow my advice and fire your fucking ass because a loser is a loser.

I love the orioles!! :) i already purchased my playoff tickets. You should too!

I am really Wayne and love the Red Sox

In all seriousness though I think the orioles will do alright, finish ahead the jays, end up dishing out millwood for prospects by all-star break, end up with 77 wins, go into offseason and get a 1B (fingers crossed). Snyder will come up, not hit for power but almost a .300 average and bell will hit for power, the orioles will get into playoffs in '11 and win the series in '12. World comes to an end and that's all folks! K bye

Not that it isn't obvious, but that 9:38 pm post wasn't me.

BenF how did you come up with those ideas? 5 hour energy and cocaine? Acid? You havent eaten for a month and are seeing things? Wake up man the Orioles are a business and the business is to lose to make money!

IT WAS ME!!! MUHAHAHA

Haha your right dick, I'm sorry. I forgot.

Hey small world, I'm Chris too! LOL

Howdy! I'm Chris too :D

Damnit what's with everyone being Chris!

Andy, follow the plan. The truth will set you free!

This is fun! Now I'm in Argentina!

Oooohhhhh noooooooo I'm in the lost city of Atlantis!

Lucky,

That's ok, you can throw politics in here if you'd like.

Like a politician, you hype, spin and misrepresent what people say in order to get your point across.

Me, I'm just a voter and a fan. I see things as they really are, and I can recognize bs when I see it.

And man, do I see it!

If Johnson was picked up by the royals,pirates or some other losing team like us with nothing to play for, we wouldn't have gotten him back

Would MacPhail have been right for not protecting him then ?

MacPhail didnt leave him unprotected because he knew he was going to get picked up by a team trying to win now and then sent back. He left him unprotected because he didn't think anyone would draft him

The outcome turned out ok, but it doesnt mean AM didn't miscalculate

Probably much ado about nothing anyway. Johnson will make an appearance here some day. Will it be of any consequence? Who knows, but its safe to say it won't be in the midst of a pennant race unless he gets traded.

That Andy is a smart one. How else can you describe someone coming up on his 5th straight last place finish with at least 93+ losses that has convinced people that he's good at building a winning baseball team.

Poor Dave Johnson. He probably wants to set whats left of his hair on fire with the news that his son has to come back to this hopeless monstrosity of a team

Lucky,

That's ok, you can throw politics in here if you'd like.

No you effing tool. YOu see what you want to see. You see a kids game when it is a multi hundred million dollar business. You can bray like an ass all you want and declare yourself the alpha and the omega but you do NOT see things as they relaly are. Business not effing kids game No matter how often you say it you are wrong. No effing spin. That is what you do. just fact. Business . . . dollars and cents. You live in a fantasy world on acid and declare the purple caterpillar is reality. NO hype. no spin and nothing you said twisted. just shown to be WRONG . . . AGAIN. Just because you dont like something doesnt make it hype or spin. Hate to break the FACTS to you. I know you are totally unfamiliar with facts and truth. You WANT desperately to be right when you say the baseball team is about wins but you are wrong! they are an entertainment company wwthat is about making a pr3ofit. I cant state it any blunter or with less hyperbole or psin or hype. just plain truth. Profits. Business. whether YOU can see it through whatever drug generated haze that alters your sense of reality or not.

as for the BS, you are so full of it, I am sure you can smell it, not just see it.

hey Tiger fan John...

you keep rooting for those tigers. only a matter of time until Federal grants are used to acquire the land Comerica Park sits on, flatten it and turn it into farm land like the rest of that failed city.

and it looks like Jason is still being a cool guy... LOL!!! LFMOA!!! LOLODA!!! FLROLOLOLO!!!

AM IS MY GOD AND I PRAY FOR THE PLAN TO SAVE ME FROM MY 25K + BENES BLUE COLLAR HELL I GOT MYSELF INTO BY BEING CRAZY IN HIGH SCHOOL...

Chris imitator... It's just not funny. Whether you're for the plan or not, at least you can attempt to be interesting, or funny. You're neither, and everyone sees it. Both sides, the optimist and the negative posters, just laugh at you, and not with you. Not one comment you put out there was even close to being humorous. It's just old

coincidence that things started getting strange shortly after bms showed up? and, of course, SHAM made an appearance. Where's bill? and bf?

Anonymous = Aloha boy

Poor Wayne,
Now the O's are a mediocre 5-8 so he has to pick something else to rant about.....

and it's quite obvious he is the maniacal poster who does all the cross postings and then acts like he would never do such things

Hey man!

I think the posters are making fun of Pete by posting a non story so they are just doing the same with their posts

shamcock you're obsession with me is king of pathetic and a little creepy. I can only assume that youre accusing me of the chris posts, but its not me. I may have done it at first, but its played out now and has been undertaken by a copycat, nothing I can do about that, but then again, I couldnt care less either. Poor pathetic shamdick , he sees me everywhere

Poor shillrock, he really worries over whats happening in this blog and once again, he's defending chris. when's the big day for you lovebirds? then again, u could just be the same person. It wouldnt be the first time.

running out of excuses for andy, so now its time to attack the messenger. NOt very original or effective, but then again you dopes actually think andy knows what hes doing. SUCKERS

You goofy, idiotic apologists irritate the fuck out of more people than me, I cant help that they mock u too

What a bunch of socially inept losers

Not surprisingly, the apologists are back to the old "its a business argument" because even they know that theres no chance at winning with the current regime. I can hear their whiney effeminate voices with each weak ass attempt at a rebuttal

There are a bunch of baghdad bobs among the macfailers. They cant tell the truth or speak about facts

Shamdoofus, I thought I told you to lay off the meth and hillbilly heroin

shamrock is such a douche that he could be the one pretending to be chris just to blame someone else. he likes instigating trouble between posters, but thats what boys going through puberty do

yep,

The O's at 5-8 have really shut me up. I take back anything negative I've ever said about AM.

Hey Horseshoe-funny when I pointed out before spring training even started that the Orioles would continue their losing ways and then just the other day pointed out that PA is laughing all the way to the bank,you tried to rebutt what I was saying.Now,amazingly enough you're using the same argument and you call other people hypocritical.Wayne tells it like it is and you blast him because he doesn't like your spin and never respond to the posters who ask you to clarify your political analogies,or attempt to make sense out of your nonsensical attacks.Yes,it is a business and Peter is raking in the dough,but at the same time he's trying to convince the addled masses,including you from previous posts you have written that he is in actuality trying to put together a winning club.Will we be marginally better this year?Probably,but only if EVERYTHING goes right,and it's not starting off good even though it is spring training.So they won three in a row,big deal.While your legitimate teams are already playing their lineups on a consistent basis and their pitchers are throwing 6 innings plus,we're trotting out people I've never heard of who aren't even close to being on the 40 man roster.ST is the time to get ready for the real season,for the Orioles it's the time to already start making excuses why we won't contend this year or the year after that either.We have yet to see even a semblance of the same lineup two days in a row.Why should I care about what Pedro Florimon does in spring training?That's the problem with this orginization,it's dysfunctional from the head down.I like most of our young players,but it takes more than that to finish .500 and way more than that to contend in the strongest division in baseball.And if BRob is hurt for any length of time,and with back problems one never knows,take it from experience,we may lose 100 games.It changes the whole dynamic of an already weakened lineup.So have at it Wayne,I've got your back.By the way Horseshoe,it makes you seem a whole lot smarter when you spell words properly and use halfway decent grammar.Anybody can make a mistake,I have several times myself,but when your entire response is filled with them,I think people tend to take your point of view a lot less seriously.I would love to see the Orioles prove me wrong,just don't see it happening for at least another two years at the earliest,and that's only if we sign some big names the next couple of offseasons.Tejada,Millwood,and Gonzalez don't fit that category.Cheap stopgaps that nobody else was clamoring to sign.

.............................................................................................
Pete's reply: Wow, Burt, you predicted before spring training that the Orioles are going to have a losing season? Could you give me a Final Four for my NCAA bracket.

Pete or anyone,

Question: Since Steve Johnson was on the Giants 25-man roster, has his arbitration clock started, or does he have to be on the Opening Day roster? What if the Giants had kept his for the first month of the season and then sent him back to the O's?

Peter, I see where Jeff Fiorentino, former O's outfielder, signed a contract with the Hiroshima Carp. Was he a free agent, or was this some kind of deal with the Japanese team to allow this guy to play against better competition?

.............................................................................................
Pete's reply: No, I believe he was a free agent.

I'm going to say the pledge.
I pledge alligence, to Andy McPhail, the GM of Baltimore.
And to the Plan, for which he stands, one baseball nation, under McPhail, indivisible, with Matt Weiters, and wins for all!!

Go Orioles

Good Morning Lucky,

As you pointed out, as an owner of a company, my prime directive is to make a profit. As I have said many times on the blog, Peter Angelos is a local philanthropist who gives under the radar to many good causes. There is evidence that he has a conscience when it comes to some things that he doesn't own or have a business interest in.

All that being said, he is just awful as a baseball owner and has never really gotten the feel for what it is all about. I think you probably agree with that. I still think he is pulling the strings and meddling and is squeezing money out of the franchise right now by keeping the payroll and expenses down. I'm sure even Pete agrees that his decision to only televise 4 games this spring was penny wise and pound foolish. In my opinion "The plan" has less to do with trying to field a winning team and more to do with profit taking by Angelos. It is a good excuse to run one of the cheapest operations in Major League Baseball. The phsychbabble from Macphail about" waiting until the time is right" to spend real money is a subjective dodge worthy of a career politician.

You are right. It is his team and he can do as he pleases. Screw the fans is his message. We get it loud and clear.

Jason...

You're right. I was on here pretending to be Chris, then preteding to be a pretender pretending to not be pretending to be the pretender who was pretending to be Chris. You nailed it. Good sleuthery. Keep it coming.

Glad to be a special part of your night cool guy.

Anyone who has time to type this psychopathic nonsense is clearly not obsessed:

"shamcock you're obsession with me is king of pathetic and a little creepy. I can only assume that youre accusing me of the chris posts, but its not me. I may have done it at first, but its played out now and has been undertaken by a copycat, nothing I can do about that, but then again, I couldnt care less either. Keep on keepin' on...

PS- sorry if I woke you up... it is 12:45 though.

I just never understood why he wasn't protected and a few of the others were. There were a couple guys on the 40 man that I didn't know were baseball players.

In the end it works out. Lost a guy that had no shot at making the big league club and all the conspiracy theorists get to debate where the net $25k gets spent by their nemesis PA.

Great news for the O's!
Never should have let him go......

this kid is gonna pitch with tremendous heart, just like his Daddy.

Well I hope he has more than just 'heart just like his daddy'.

Because without more than 'heart', he may end up 22-25, with an era north of 5.... just like his daddy.

Dave Johnson seems like a good guy, but maybe we can set the bar a little higher around here?

A little?

well said, wayne.

So wayne, you are saying because his father is Dave Johnson, he is going to play like his daddy?

Thats as smart as saying Cal Ripken didn't stand a chance because his father stunk as a ball player.

Hey I was being Chris don't blame shamrock. I'm a new poster and was just messin' and having fun. Sorry guys I'm off posting now. I didn't mean to piss off Chris either just having fun.

Help, please. I live in Colorado (hence my name here), and am a lifelong Oriole fan, going on 55 years now. I discovered this blog last year, and initially found it fun and interesting to get the local buzz about my favorite sports team. Around here, the Rockies could win the WS, and if, on the same day, the stupid Broncos had a trainer's assistant who got a DUI, THAT story would be on the front page of every paper and dominate the TV and radio waves.

So, can somebody let me know if there is an Oriole blog on which the bloggers actually talk about baseball, and not puff up like hyper-hormonal middle school boys all the time. The continual juvenile carping and "mine's bigger than yours" mentality here is infantile. If I want to hear and read this garbage, I'll unretire from teaching and go back to classroom.

Help, please.

Hey there, Colorado.

You could check out Roch's and Steve's blogs over on MASN. There's some of that on there, but Roch has less tolerance for it and they have to approve posts, so if things get out of hand, the comment won't get published.

Actually I meant to say a few of those were mine. Not all of them but some. Again sorry Chris in Hawaii I didn't mean anything by it

Don't sweat it, BenF. I didn't even see any of it until this morning. I went home from work after my 9:42 pm post (3:42 pm for me).

No SHAM,

Didn't say that.....

There's a lot of hype in this town when it comes to baseball, and when people hope that Steve has what his dad had, I'm only reminding that Dave, although he seems knowledgeable about the game, was a below 500 pitcher with a poor era.

In other words, if Steve is what his dad was, then I'd pass.

But that's just me...

close enough wayne. twist anything to fuel your negative rants.

Oh darn that's late! What do you do for work, if you don't mind me asking? Or is it because of the major time difference in Hawaii?

Curious SHAM,

What did I twist?

You need to not be so bitter dude.....

I do admin work for a Commercial Realty company, BenF. And it's just the time difference. It's 6 hours right now. It was 5 last week, but we don't have daylight savings time here.

BenF =SHAMROCK

Why would any normal person be anything other than negative regarding a perpetual losing baseball team ?

I suggest that you pollyanna's check other boards for baseball teams and then come back and give a report of what fanbase is happy about the prospect of a another losing season

This isn't hypothetical. Go do it and come back with a detailed report. Thank You

Chris is a secretary ?

I didn't know it was Christine. I feel bad for messing with a chick now

Thanks Burt,

And by the way Pete, I've heard you predict a losing season for this year as well..... So I don't get your point!

Pete's reply: My point is that .500 is going to be tough to achieve in this division with a young team. That doesn't mean the plan is a failure.

About Peter Schmuck
Peter Schmuck wants you to know that, contrary to popular belief, he is more than just a bon vivant, raconteur and collector of blousy flowered shirts. He is a semi-respected journalist who has covered virtually every sport -- except luge, of course – and tackled issues that transcend the mere games people play. If that isn’t enough to qualify him to provide witty, wide-ranging commentary on the sports world ... and the rest of the world, for that matter ... he is an avid reader of history, biography and the classics, as well as a charming blowhard who pops off on both sports and politics on WBAL Radio. That means you can expect a little of everything in The Schmuck Stops Here, but the major focus will be keeping you up to the minute on Baltimore’s major sports teams and themes, whether it’s throwing up the Orioles lineup the minute it’s announced or updating you on the latest sprained ankle in Owings Mills. Oh, and by the way, that’s Mr. Schmuck to you.
