Orioles: Bergesen update

Brad Bergesen says that he's making daily progress in his recovery from the shoulder strain he suffered in December. If all continues to go well, he'll be back on the mound in about two weeks.

Check out the Orioles Notebook on the Web site a little later today for a more of his comments, but here's what he said about the controversy surrounding the injury, which was suffered during an Orioles commercial shoot.

“I haven’t paid attention to that, but that’s what I do all the time,'' he said. "I don’t read the newspaper. I don’t watch (ital)Baseball Tonight.(ital) I don’t read the blogs. Good or bad, I just don’t want to get caught up in it. But I had gotten a couple of text messages from friends that can’t help themselves but to tell me what people are writing.”

That's probably the right way to handle the situation, but I'm a little concerned that Bergesen doesn't check out the blog. I need the business.

Pete, do you know if Andy still has any interest in Delgado or perhaps Jermaine Dye? I never got the sense that the O's are sold on Luke Scott.

I do not want to see Delgado in an Oriole uniform.

I Would like to see Matt fill in at DH when he is not catching. LScott is the most hot/cold hitter I have ever seen. When he is hot he looks like a man among boys. We he is cold, he stays that way for a long long long time.

Also, the Pie factor is yet to be determined. He could play left or DH. If he is in left, Reimold can DH. Which Pie will we see come April? You also have Wiggs in the mix. I would not over pay some former roider and/or has been at this point.

At the end of the day (season) who is playing DH will matter not unless we have some pitching. In that department it looks we have more questions than answers but that is the fun of spring baseball. It could be that Bergy, Matusz, and Tillman are all the real deal and JGuth and Millwood have career years and the O's make a run...

It could happen....maybe...

Old wayne - come back! The new Wayne is embarrassing your legacy. New Wayne, at least give yourself a different flavor. Add something to the name. The old wayne deserves better!

The "OLD" Wayne is just that old and tired and O's yea a cry baby lil BITCH!!!!!!!!

Agreed! Old wayne needs to return. The blog has become far to Vanilla. Jason, is that you calling people Bitch and such? And why do you hat the old wayne?

It is very unfortunate that this once outstanding blog continues to be populated by transient deviants who have no other purpose but to post teenage facebook comments such as "CAL" just did. Those comments are obviously the result of Beer Muscles., from a gutless punk hiding in his bedroom, with his mother close by.

Mr Schmuck has lost the vast majority of his loyal and serious contributors and only a few hardy and tough minded individuals remain such as SHAMROCK, Ken, Oceanwarrior and Wayne who actually wish to debate the issues. Several visit here now with the sole purpose of indicating how it is physically possible to shove one's head up their ass.

James C, Not Brooks, Chris in Hawaii, Jason C in Florida, jim66, bob c, Gil, CB Coach, Blancione, Kevin in Iraq and many others are conspicuous bt their abscence.

Hey Genius,
Thats pretty juvenile for someone complaing about the same. Jason C and Wayne are the jerks who got this going in the wrong way and you want to compliment them. What a joke. You should go away.

Real Men,

Your so right, after reading the inmature garbage currently being posted, I too have lost interest.

But the truth will set you free

I think is it clearly time to get TMZ involved in this Bergeson Business. I have had enough.

I want to know when he sees Kim Kardashian's overweight sister.

I want a helicopter following him home from the park every afternoon.

I want to know if he meets Kate Gosselin for Happy Hour.

I want pictures of him helping Lindsay Lohan out of her wrecked up Benz as she offers up an accidental crotch shot.

I want pictures of him in a hoodie outside of sex rehab with Tiger.

and FINALLY... I want the NCst goof ball with horrible facial hair to not hit anymore 3's vs. the Terps.

there you go... nice travel. Now shave that crap all over your face.

SHAMROCK:

2 thoughts on that guy:

1. It looked like he was snuggling with Mr. Hankey before the game.

2. I think he wishes he were Kevin Federline.

That is all.

To all you idiots out there clamoring for the return of "old Wayne", here's a news flash--get over it!

I am my own man with my own flavor. I know more about baseball, Orioles baseball in particular than the vast majority of you meat heads scripting your insipid, unimaginative nonsense on this blog.

Now, with that out of the way.

We need to dump Wiggington, maybe a trade for a second-tier prospect. Let Andino be the "super" sub utility guy--2nd, ss, 3rd base, and emergency outfielder. I'd also dump Luke in favor of a "top" tier short stop prospect.

People have forgotten that Montanez nearly won the triple crown at Bowie--something neither Reimold nor Weiters came close to accomplishing.

I also hope Aburey makes the squad--he and Montanez could share DH duties with Aburey being a defensive firstt baseman and insurance for Atkins in case he doesn't bounce back.

Oh, I almost forgot.

Birdfanman and CAL--Bite Me!

Wayne U:

What "top tier" SS prospect would you have the O's obtain for Scott? You are aware that, for such a thing to occur, it is important there is a willing trade partner with just such a prospect to peddle. As well, I believe Montanez did win the AA Triple Crown in 2008. Then again, you are not seriously comparing Montanez to Wieters ("i before e...") as a prospect, are you?

So much for knowing more about baseball, much less about O's baseball, than others.

The name should have read, "Terp'nTexas."

Terp'nTexas - First, I am not comparing Montanenez to Wieters just making the point that Montanez has shown enough to warrant more respect and consideration that it appears he's getting.

I said I know more than others, not that I know everything. I was so disappointed that Monttanez did not get to 100 rbi the year he won the triple crown (think he got 97) that it tarnished the achievement in a way that effected my memory of the whole event.

Also, I applaud your command of the obvious--you need a willing trading partner to make a trade--, NOT.

In your haste to tangle with me you've check what modicum of intellect you may have once possessed.

The Orioles farm system doesn't have a legitimate "future" short stop. As such, we need to give (Scott) to order to get.

Yes everyone is just giving shortstops away as they are so very easy to trade for!

For Wayne U/Anonymous or what ever old wayne is calling himself these days... that is called sarcasm.

Our current SS is ok for now until we find one. There are lots of teams with holes chill

for all you people with no life that continue to idolize me, GROW UP as I never liked anyone on this board anyway!

I have lost faith in the Orioles many years ago and since the hiring of the latest fool (am) it doesnt appear to anything will change but people get over me as you just lower my opinions of you with this latest love for me

When I grow up I wanna be like Cal Ripken or Pete Schmuck or maybe even a terminally negative poster who cant find it in his heart to be happy...

How sad

who the heck want's l.scott for a premier SS prospect?

dem O's are really hot. especially Nicky.

Adam Jones is gonna kick some Crankee and Sux butt!

"I'd also dump Luke in favor of a "top" tier short stop prospect. People have forgotten that Montanez nearly won the triple crown at Bowie--something neither Reimold nor Weiters came close to accomplishing."

Whoever you are, have you ever heard the term AAAA player? That's Montanez. There is a reason he is where he is in his career.

If minor league stats were indicative of Major League futures, Wieters would have hit .360 in his rookie year.

You need to adjust your prospect tiering system. Who is giving up mid-level or top-level anything for Wigginton or Scott. This isn't XBox Madden Football.

AM builds winners. Just look at the '87 Twins.

Hey new Wyane I was supporting you man, I like you comments and your knowledge of the game. My comment was to the "Old" Wayne who have I have heard cry and whine so many times on here I had to say what I thought. The way I see it and the way the "OLD wayne has said it hes not an Oriole fan, He has nothng usefull to say. So like many here are thinking ill say it STFU. And go blog about the Yankees, Cause it sounds to me they are one in the same. Neither are loyal and neither have the testicle fortitude to "BUILD" a true basball Dynasty from the ground up and relize the time that that takes. And anyone that is stupid enough to not be able to see how much this years team is better then any team in the last decade then they should just go be a idiot Yankee fan.

To old Wayne--you are indeed a horse's ass! In stealing Dean Wormer's Animal House line: Being fat, stupid, and lazy is no way to go through life--internalize these words of wisdom.

For all you critical thinkers:

Last word on the Montanez. He's shown the promise of being a late-bloomer. Most don't know he was (I think) the 3rd overall pick by the cubs way back when he was an 18 year old short-stop prospect. Let's face reality--the Orioles will not finish higher than a distant third-place. We should seize the opportunity to test-pilot players with high ceiling, upside potential such as Montanez, Aubrey (another premium draft pick via the Indians), Pie (yet another top-five overall draft pick, also by the Cubs)

Scott plays a "decent" LF and can be counted on to hit between 25-30 HRs, and drive in up to 80-85 rbi. There must be a team with a plethora of high-ceiling short stops (the Mariners perhaps) who will bit on Scott--and we could also toss in someone like Berken, who, while I like him, has no shot at being part of the Orioles starting pitcher corps--not today, not tomorrow, not ever.

Cal...That wasnt me posting....but thanks for your generosity.

That means you can expect a little of everything in The Schmuck Stops Here, but the major focus will be keeping you up to the minute on Baltimore’s major sports teams and themes, whether it’s throwing up the Orioles lineup the minute it’s announced or updating you on the latest sprained ankle in Owings Mills. Oh, and by the way, that’s Mr. Schmuck to you.
