Pete's reply: I think you're right. It'll only be the first full-squad workout.

Maybe you can tell us Pete how you and AM are gonna fix the Orioles.
We need more Yes men here thats for sure...

Ask AM when he is gonna acquire a SS prospect and improve the pitching staff!!
other than that we need a 1B 3B RF.
maybe than he will improve his atrocious win loss record!

Is that supposed to be in honor of Wayne or Wank???
Regardless , all good points if your the annoying negative Wayne....we wouldnt expect anything more than the low standard you have maintained thus far

Pete , the worst thing that could have happened to adam jones last year was his selection to the all star team. The people of baltimore have him going to the hall of fame already but in reality pete he is so over rated it's not even funny. If pitchers keep throwing him curve balls he would hit 120 . Do you realize that since may 15th last year until august he only hit 220. Why do people choose to ignore that.

Ah,
There's that dude trying to be wayne again. The original impostor. He tries so darn hard, but he can never capture the pure essence of wayne. I guess he needs to learn to spell first - lol!

Hey--A BIG thank you to whoever put together those extended videos with the interviews and then just 20 minutes of "being there" at spring training. LOVE that!

Pete's reply: That would be Sun photographer Karl Merton Ferron, doing a nice job.

I think either he is ignorant of the fact that Markakis plays there or he hates him
either way "Hiatus" Wayne hates the Os

Pete,
Come on ole Tommy Bahama breath. You miss the old wayne as much as anyone.

Pete's reply: Well, he may be a pain in the neck, but it's obvious the guy is missed.

"Do you realize that since may 15th last year until august he only hit 220. Why do people choose to ignore that."
You're wrong on your dates and numbers. Jones didn't play from May 14-18. From May 19 to the end of August he hit 246, not 220. Despite hitting just 246, he was reasonably productive scoring 48 runs and driving in 44 in 86 games.
For some perspective on Jones, look at what Tori Hunter was doing at the same age. He was hitting 255 with a 380 sl% for the Twins with just 9 HRs and 35 rbis. Jones hit 277 with a 457 sl% with 19 HRs and 70 rbis.
And that's why most Os fans are high on him.

Pete:
In reference to your column about Jones being a team leader.
Jones has a lot of potential and has shown some, BUT, the thing I fear the most about him is he's not "playing with his brothers", or playing the the minors. He's playing in the Major Leagues where pithcers love to make mince meat out of "young studs" like this. He started out last year hitting the ball hard while swinging the bat correctly on an even plain and line drive home runs began to go over the wall. He made the All Star game which was deserved because "each team must have one entry". Unfortunately, he turned his line drive swing into an "upright swing" and that's when problems started to come and he never recovered. He later won the Gold Glove award. A lot of things are coming too fast for him and I think it's time for him to sit back, relax and stop reading his praises in the papers. By changing his swing, he opened many holes and the pitchers took advantage of them and everything suffered. He probably pushed himself to the point he got hurt again and didn't finish the year for the second year in a row. I hope he can find himself because he's got too much talent for it to go to waste.

Freeman , you can compare him to anybody you want and make all the excuses for him you want but from that period of time may 19th to the end of august he stunk .Going to the all start game didn't do him any good except for the experince of being around great players. Lets not put him in the hall of fame yet as so many of you oriole fans seem to do.

It's clear that Jones is a far more developed player than Tori Hunter was at the same age. There is nothing illegitimate about pointing that out. It's not an excuse, just a fact.
