Peter Schmuck wants you to know that, contrary to popular belief, he is more than just a bon vivant, raconteur and collector of blousy flowered shirts. He is a semi-respected journalist who has covered virtually every sport -- except luge, of course – and tackled issues that transcend the mere games people play. If that isn’t enough to qualify him to provide witty, wide-ranging commentary on the sports world ... and the rest of the world, for that matter ... he is an avid reader of history, biography and the classics, as well as a charming blowhard who pops off on both sports and politics on WBAL Radio. That means you can expect a little of everything in
The Schmuck Stops Here, but the major focus will be keeping you up to the minute on Baltimore’s major sports teams and themes, whether it’s throwing up the Orioles lineup the minute it’s announced or updating you on the latest sprained ankle in Owings Mills. Oh, and by the way, that’s Mr. Schmuck to you.

How does Suggs get the nod over Jarret Johnson???
Posted by: Shaq | December 29, 2009 7:52 PM
Mostly a popularity contest......
Awesome for Rice and Ngata though....
Ray continues to be a great leader...
Reed doesn't belong this year as his injury's make him a shell of his former self. I just hope he can have a healthy life after football.
McClain is still based on last years success.
Suggs even being mentioned is a joke.
And watch out for Zibi... He's a future star who plays the position textbook. Notice how our secondary play has improved since he's been back there?

Very unusual. How do Suggs, Reed and Zbikowski make it there?
Suggs has had one of the most dissapointing/frustrating seasons I can remember for anyone in a long time.
Reed, missed significant time and only had what 2 INTs?
Zbikowski has played well the last couple of games, but how many starts does he even have?
Oh well, congratulations to all. Great to see Rice and Ngata on there as starters, they definitely deserve it.

Did Zbikowski make it as a special teams player?

Is this a legacy/futures game?
Rice, McClain, Ngata--legit
Lewis, Reed--Legacy
Others as alternates? Nice thoughts
Suggs? Priceless

No JJ...wow

Yes, Zbikowski was voted in as a special teams player.
Wouldn't make much sense to vote in two free safeties from the same team....

Props to Jarret Johnson on a Pro Bowl season even if you didn't get the votes, my brother. You are having a fantastic season. Keep it going!

Voting ed reed to the pro bowl is a absolute joke and just shows how little creditibility there is in the voting. Horrible just horrible.

Terrell Suggs?????????????

Reed is as bad as Champ Bailey making it.
Also... how did DeSean Jackson make it as a WR and KR? Shouldn't they add another guy? I mean, I LOVE DeSean Jackson and have a fantasy football shrine in honor of him in my basement and like to think the Lady Gaga "Papa-Paparazzi" song was written for him, but...excuse me... they should add another guy to fill out the NFC roster
Look forward to Oher knocking off Jake Long or Joe Thomas next year. How does a tackle on a the worse offense since a defunct 1930's team make the pro bowl every year?
I think Det. Le'ron McClain should be moved to the no. 2 RB spot next year to spell Rice and run the goal line short yardage stuff that McGahee is doing this year (Thunder and Lightning like the old combo of Barber/Dayne). Then, pick up a pure blocking Lorenzo Neal-type FB.

Frank Walker -- 1,696th alternate

Seriously, Terrell Thuggs? He had a crappy season, missed some games, has hurt his team badly with stupid penalties... and that's all before the little matter of pouring bleach on his baby mama and their one year old child. The NFL should really be ashamed of themselves on that one. Pathetic! Right up there with Vick getting an Ed Block Courage Award. Sometimes I really wonder why I watch the NFL when it has so many ethical problems.

waspman....that's hilarious!!!

Having the Pro Bowl before the Super Bowl is probably one of the worst ideas that the NFL has ever had. Which ever teams are in the Super Bowl most likely will not allow any of their players to play in the Pro Bowl.

All this does is reflect the stupid voting culture that's based on name ID.They could have put Susan Boyle on the ballot and got some votes.

What, is Suggs 2nd alternate on the All-Stupidity Team?
Posted by: trebort49 | December 31, 2009 7:04 AM
Glad to see the Ravens get in. Still, I haven't watched the Pro Bowl in years and won't do so this year. It's a waste of time IMO.

Sizzle? really? maybe they felt bad for him after that cheap shot he received in Cleveland.
