Anything new on Bergeson? Is he running yet?

Pete's reply: The last I heard, he was back to mostly normal activity, but I don't have any specifics.

Do you think there is any chance the O's could pry Prince Fielder from MIL for 3 good prospects? He would kill Eutaw Street and fortify our lineup for sure!

Pete's reply: I suppose there's a chance, but I doubt it.

Are we in the running for Kouzmanoff, and do you hear anything about what we might offer?

Hey Pete, what about a power bat?? Anything close?

Will they really wait til late December/early January to see what Delgado does in winter ball to fill th1B vacancy or will they go after LaRoche or Nick Johnson?

It has been widely reported that the Orioles are interested in Pedro Feliz. Is there a market for Feliz, or does it seem that the O's are the only legitimate suitor right now?

Peter
Can you please make it a requirement that people do not submit these ridiculous trade scenarios that map out the entire offseason and suggest that the O's will be a winner in the blink of an eye. The next post I have to read about us being to trade Brandon Snyder, Jay Gibbons, and Gerinimo Gil for Adrian Gonzalez paired with our 2010 rotation of Lackey, Pedro Martinez, Bedard, and Sandy Koufax I will be forced to stage a riot.
Thank You

What's ridiculous is that last post from Alan. Makes no sense. How about sense for a requirement. Sounds like a yankmee fan.

With the dead contracts coming off the books this offseason and apparent payroll flexiblity, I'm surprised we aren't interested in the big 3 FA's. Any chance we'll be surprised?

Soriano from Atlanta would be a good fit for us. He has already given permission to ATL for a trade. Give them Luke Scott and mid level prospect for him. ATL is looking for hitting. How realistic does that sound?

hey anonymous
been an oriole fan my whole life.
I was referring to nonsense like the very first post on peter's "big deal" article. according to that idiot we are signing Lackey, Holliday, Garland, Laroche, Beltre and more. Dont worry, you can also see our rotation and line up for next year, as well as the terms these future O's will agree to. This is followed by 25 posts of debating the merits of some scenario that will never happen. Also, mixed in is us trading Felix Pie and Luke Scott for Billy Butler.
maybe these are your suggested moves.

Alan,
No offense, but I have to agree with "annonymour," instead of posting you own wordy, stupid comment, please try to add something intelligent to the message boards. trade scenerios are fun to discuss; you my friend, haven't a clue. Next time, please try to post a topic/issue to lead the masses in what you consider a good topic discussion
BTW, let's trade Guthrie for Soriano straight up, we have Millwood and a glut of pitchers to fill his spot. what we don't have is a closer.

I like trade discussions too. I simply prefer to discuss an issue that may spark a real debate, not an unrealistic scenario.
So, my thoughts on your trade are: If we trade Guthrie, you are giving away the only starter we have with any sort of decent track record, whom can also pitch deep into games (Millwood not official yet). Last year Guthrie certainly was disappointing no doubt. Assuming we do get Millwood, that gives us two starters whom have some history and durability. If we trade Guthrie we are back in the same situation where we always seem to be: wearing out our already lame bullpen (now without ray also), and will be in store for another collapse at the end of the year in large part do to having to consistently march out relievers from the 4th inning on. Millwood and Guthrie have two spots, give the young bucks a chance to fight it out for the last three with some healthy competition so they earn it. It will allow us to get them experience with three rotation spots, with Millwood and Guthrie in the other two. True, we dont have a real closer right now, but those are easier to find than a starter whom will give us some real innings.
Dont trade Pie!

agree on Pie, Alan!
Oh and trade Scott (for lefty reliever perhaps), move Reimold to dh, platoon Aubrey and Wiggy at first if you can't get Delgado.
Bring back Tejada for third and Bedard for whenever he's ready.
thats all except for more left handed relief. Koji can close hopefully.

MillWood for Ray..........Great deal!! Keep up the good work Andy!! A few more moves and it could get interesting.........

Atlanta will not be trading for more Starting Pitching. They currently have 6 starters and are hoping to dump Lowe, not add another. Mid-market teams like the O's don't need to spend big money on the bullpen. Remember the bullpen spending spree we had a couple years ago? How did that turn out? A solid rotation makes a bullpen look a whole lot stronger.
