Carson does it again. So do Ravens.

Thanks, in part, to an unnecessary roughness penalty on Ray Lewis late in the drive, Carson Palmer and the Bengals completed another late comeback to take over first place in the AFC North with a 17-14 victory over the Ravens.

No doubt, there will be more gnashing of teeth about the officiating, but the Lewis penalty was legit. He hammered a defenseless Chad Ochocinco, knocking his helmet off, as the ball sailed well out of the reach of anyone.

There were three defensive penalties on the final drive, which evoked a stadium-wide chant that the referees, well, stink. Don't know if you can blame this one on them. The Ravens never looked particularly sharp in this game, and they were fortunate to be leading in the final minutes.

Was Dave Trembley on the sidelines?

Why must they always not pass rush near the end of a game. Another prevent defensive loss.

The Ravens' defense is getting worse faster than the offense is getting better, setting up a team that is mediocre on both fronts.

No pass rush, stupid penalities, conservative play calling equals a loss that they deserved. I can't believe how poorly this defense played. Totally outcoached in every facet of this game. Every penalty was deserved and i don't want to here any crying today.

No excuses. The penalties were legit and stupid.

The failure to get a first down, after having good field position,on the next to last drive was a killer.

outhit, outhustled, outcoached, and just flat out outplayed, by the freakin Cincinnati Bengals, in their home stadium..that is about as embarassing and lame a performance as I have seen from them in years.....and get ready for next week folks, cause Minnesota is going to tear that Defense apart, from 3-0 to 3-3 in a heartbeat....guess this team isn't as great as they wanted us to believe....and please, will someone on the coaching staff find a seat on the bench for foxworth?.....

the ravens just kept shhooting themselves in the foot all through the game.this might have been a game of over confidence i guess we will never know what was going through ray lewis' head when he comitted that late hit with a minute or less left in the game. with the performance the ravens showed today, they are not a contending or championship team. will we see a fine coming from the league for ray lewis' hit on the bengals player. i think so

man, we sucked out their. sucked really really badly. im gonna go hit somebody and if any one calls a penalty i hit them to.

Ravens did not deserve this game and frankly didn't deserve to even share the field with the Bengals today. Absolutely pathetic effort, gutless coaching, and completely unprepared. This was Harbaugh's worst coached game of his tenure in Baltimore, by far.

Enough about the refs!!!! PLEASE!!!!!

Outplayed in all facets of the game. This team is over rated. No consistent pressure on Palmer. Idiots taking stupid penalties when they had a chance to win a game they deserved to lose. The Secondary is Pathetic. Sorry to say but the Bengals are a solid football team which could win the division. The Ravens could finish third if they do not wake up. Flacco has to start connecting on critical passes.

Pete, When do you leave for the Middle East?

..............................................................................................
Pete's reply: Because I am a jinx, Israel is denying me an entry visa this time. I will not, however, be in Minnesota next week, which should help.

why is it the Ravens can't make a 1st down on the second to last series of tight games that allows the other team to be set up for a final game winning drive? it almost reminds me of the Billick years.

Gutless, pathetic performance by the home team today. The last thin we need is Ravens fans embarrassing the fan base complaining about the refs today. The calls were legit. When will people realize that the 3rd down penalty has been a staple of this defense for a few years now? The D always chokes when the game is on the line with STUPID STUPID penalties. What a joke that the team couldn't get up for a game with first place on the line at home.

By far the worse game of harbaugh's tenure here in baltimore. The better team won and the final score wasn't indicative of how bad we got our a$$'s kicked. Where was kelly washington the whole game. Where was mason the whole game, where was willis teh whole game. Foxworth was the biggest free agent bust that the ravens have made in a long time. 27,000,00 right down the drain. The sad part about that is nobody else even wanted him.We didn't want jim leonard back on this team, he has more heart then anybody else . Harbaugh better wake up on the sidelines, because the ravens were cheated 5 yeards on that play when clayton fumbled.

Much respect to the Bengals. I thought we would crush them. Believe me I enjoyed the high scoring, high octane offense but I believe it's time to get back to B-More Raven Football.

PFTME!

The calls weren't the reason for the loss - they played like crap. But the calls continue to be heavily slanted. Saying they were ALL legit is just angry venting at the Ravens for playing badly. Brutal game plan. Foxworth is a bust and the secondary just isn't making plays and hitting. I now officially miss Leonard. Don't miss Bart Sott, but I miss Leonard. We needed to get another receiver with some size. We're getting killed in the secondary on both sides of the ball. Has anyone seen our pass rush?

The cheated 5 yards on that Clayton fumble was symbolic of how NOT into that game, either physically or mentally we were today. It's a long season. It's time to regroup.

I don't have problems when the refs call things that actually happen, like the Ray Lewis play on the final drive. But did anyone else see earlier in the drive when the Bengal defender was literally grabbing Trevor Pryce around the neck and almost riding him. CBS even replayed it and the two morons on there didn't even mention it. If the refs wanna be flag happy, that's fine, just call that stuff both ways.

Pffff-fffff-ffftttt!!!
Ha, Ha, Ha!!
How do you get embarassed by the Bungles?
Embarassed at home, even!!! Ha, Ha, Ha!

Maybe you guys should play football and quit worrying about trying to break the rules.

Hopefully you girls will win next week against the Viks. AFC > NFC

to Greg, yes I saw Trevor being held tighter than Tommy Lee holding on to Pamela A. and we all now, that's worth holding on to. I can't believe the brilliant CBS team didn't see that but they were too busy talking about the Ravens' penalty called on that play

No more ref comments PLEASE! They didn't through into triple coverage. They didn't give up 25/30 yards on pass plays. They didn't get blown off the line of scrimage on both side of the ball. We played poorly. It's a long season. Lets regroup.

PROPER PRIOR PREPARATION PREVENTS POOR PERFORMANCE. It's as simple as that.

Uh.. What?

Your Offense couldn't score more than 7 points. Your Offense turns the ball over multiple times.

Your Defense scores 7 points and holds the other team to 17 points.

And the fans blame the Defense for the loss. Wow!!!!!!

Granted your D was the weakest we have seen in the division, but your Offense could be the weakest in the league.

Marvin Lewis knew the plays before Flacco did. Maybe when you get a better QB, you'll be able to call more dynamic plays. Your O is very vanilla and predictable. A good Defensive scheme shuts it down, period.

I was expecting a better game from the Ravens (in Balty). If you guys don't play better you will finish dead last in the division. The Browns played way better than the Ravens.

We'll see you guys in 4 weeks here in Cincy, and Marvin Lewis can rub Harbaugh nose in it AGAIN. Easy WIN!!

What exactly is Harbaugh's role during the game? Thought he was suupoosed to at least keep track of the downs and ball placement. It was odd not to see a challenge from him when the referee incorrectly spotted the ball at the 20 instead of 25 after the negated fumble by Clayton. The CBS crew was practically screaming from the booth that the ball was incorrectly spotted - well before the 3rd down snap by the Ravens. Maybe an assistant can be hired in the booth to watch the TV broadcast and then relay what should occur back to Harbaugh. Also - will someone please clue Foxworth in? He's got talent, but doesn't seem to know how to apply it.

The team looked lackadaisical, and the coaching was Horr-i-baugh. There, I said it.

Adrian Peterson is going to run all over this team next week. I can almost not bear to think about it.

This run defense has been suspect since the pre-season Jets game. Actually, let me rephrase that -- it's not the run defense, it's the defense up the middle, period. We can't get any pressure up the middle on passing downs, and teams are getting a good 5+ yards when rushing. Yet NO ONE is mentioning this! Everyone is on and on about the refs and the corners. Well, of course the corners are having problems -- opposing QBs have all day to throw, and have all season.

This team HAS to do something about the defense up the middle, and they need to do it NOW. Else, this season is over. A team that can't pressure the QB up the middle, is susceptible to runs up the gut, and smallish DB's? Check mate.

I smell a 3-3 record coming. It's time to get back to Ravens football (instead of trying to be the Colts or the Eagles by chucking it all over the field).

Run the ball.
Stop the run.
Play action down the field.
Pressure up the middle.

They only did one of those today (run the ball) and it wasn't like they did it spectacularly.
