Jones: X-rays negative

Manager Dave Trembley said during his postgame news conference that Adam Jones suffered a sprained ankle when he jammed his foot into the first base bag tonight. X-rays were negative, but that doesn't mean Jones will be back any time soon. Trembley said it was "a pretty good sprain," which could put Jones back on the shelf for a significant chunk of the remaining schedule.

Just another nasty twist of fate for Jones, who just returned from a back injury and nearly got hurt crashing the wall on Monday night.

I thought hernandez' performance tonight was pretty disappointing. He looked more like a thrower and less like a pitcher. And he just throws too many pitches and walks far too many hitters. He's got a live arm, but he needs to command a few pitches, otherwise he'll just be another in a long line of guys with a good arm and not much else. It's tough to even pitch him out of the pen the way he walks guys.
We don't need to talk about the pen, speaking of a few guys with live arms and nothing else.
I have to commend DT for only one public rant. It's hard to see him coming back next year, this type of losing, whether rebuilding or not, has got to beat you down. Nobody comes in and manages this team without a 4 year contract. The next two years will pretty much be more of the same. Ok, 75 wins.
But tonite is cause for celebration. 30 games out of first. I mean, what are the Yanks and Red Sox gonna do when and if the O's improve, when nearly half of their total games over 500 come from giving the O's an annual beatdown?

Good. I am glad he is back on the shelf. Who the hell needs a player who is hitting .218 since the all-star break? Especially one who bats third all the time. He has reverted back to his clueless self from last year after a descent first half.

this just in!! the orioles have fired dave trembley and have named famous blog commenter anonymous interm manager!

i am holding out for a better gig :)

Hey Anonymous,
I hear there is an opening down at King's Thrones!!!

All x-rays are negative. That's the nature of an x-ray.

You guys want non depressing entertaiment? Okay here we go:

I'm currently excepting any constructive criticism you may have for a new movie script I'm working on.

It's an action flic starring Juan Samuel as masked crime fighting superhero known as "Windmill Man". In the beginning Windmill Man is the king of Baltimore as he uses his right arm to conjur up large gusts of wind that incapacitate the city's criminal element.

On one fateful night in August, as Windmill Man is trying to stop a robbery at the Harbor East Whole Foods Market, one of his gusts of wind collide with a low pressure system in the area that combine to form a deadly tornado, destroying much of the well to do community.

Pubic outcry abounds and soon Windmill man is confronted by The Evil Lord Angelos (played by Peter Angelos) who slaps Windmill Man with a class action law suit he organized by rallying the citizens of Harbor East.

When he can not pay the $6.8 billion awarded by the courts, Windmill Man is sent away to jail. While inside he forges an unlikely alliance with his eventual arch enemy "The Hamburglar" (played by Dave Trembley of course).

While inside the two new friends are approached by a seemingly crazy old con, who calls himself "Andy One Kanobi"
(played by Andy MacPhail) Andy One presents them with a "PLAN" to extract their revenge on the Evil Lord Angelos. Once released the two go to work on the "PLAN".

Through a serious of bad judgments, and unfortunate mishaps, it's obvious that Andy One's "PLAN" is failing miserably and the Evil Lord Angelos is truly untouchable. After Windmill Man and The Hamburglar have blamed everyone else possible for the failure of the "PLAN" they finally turn on each other in an emotionally violent scene reminiscent of Brokeback Mountain.

I'm taking suggestions for the ending, but there's only one rule. It must take place outside of a McDonald's somewhere in Baltimore County.

Schmuck for president! At least he's a realist. I'm not sure the whorioles will make it to 62 wins anymore. :-(

djph, lol!

I would make a movie called, "The Baserunners". It would be about a group of young baseball players that go out into the world of "The Basepath" only to be deserted by their leaders (the base coaches and the manager) to defend themselves against the deadly "Outfield people". We they come back battered and beaten, wanting answers, the leaders point the finger at them for not knowing how to run bases. It stars Brian Roberts, Felix Pie, and Juan Samuel. Other coming attractions are:

"The Rookies"
"Angelos Way"
"Love Jones"
"Crying for Melvin"
"The Dominican Express" starring Felix Pie as himself.
And the blockbusters "Cool Bat Luke" and "The Trial of Andy McPhail"

Djph,

I'm puzzled with finding a good ending as well, but here is a start.

It was a calm summer night. The stars were shinning bright as ever. The Hamburglar was lying in his bed but had a hard time falling asleep. He kept thinking about the Windmill man and lamenting over the Andy One Kanobi's failed plan. "There's got to be something I can do to free the Windmill man. $6.8 billion is a lot of money. How could I ever find that kind of money".

This ordeal had taken a toll on Hamburglar's body. He was worried sick about the Windmill man. It was 30 minutes past midnight. Hamburglar gets out of bed and decides to go for a walk. As he is walking down Eastern Avenue he comes across the Burger King. He wasn't hungry, but he was not one to pass up on a good hamburger. He walks in and is immediately greeted by a young man with big googly eyes wearing a name tag displaying "Felix" .

Felix - Welcome to B.K sir, how may I help you?
Hamburglar - I'll have a double whopper with cheese, bacon and extra mayo please
Felix - Good choice Sir. Would you like some apple pie with that?
Hamburglar - Pie sounds good son. I'd love me some apple pie.

..... to be continued

Pete's reply: You've definitely headed over the precipice.

you guys amaze me, your fortunate enough to have a big league club that is fun to watch and full of good young talent and consistently complain about them when they lose to big market ball clubs, its like complaining that a chevy cavalier loses to a benz. be appreciative of what you got if it bothers you so much to watch then find a better hobby. as my old coach told me before i complain about a pro athlete remember why i am not one.

About Peter Schmuck
Peter Schmuck wants you to know that, contrary to popular belief, he is more than just a bon vivant, raconteur and collector of blousy flowered shirts. He is a semi-respected journalist who has covered virtually every sport -- except luge, of course – and tackled issues that transcend the mere games people play. If that isn’t enough to qualify him to provide witty, wide-ranging commentary on the sports world ... and the rest of the world, for that matter ... he is an avid reader of history, biography and the classics, as well as a charming blowhard who pops off on both sports and politics on WBAL Radio. That means you can expect a little of everything in The Schmuck Stops Here, but the major focus will be keeping you up to the minute on Baltimore’s major sports teams and themes, whether it’s throwing up the Orioles lineup the minute it’s announced or updating you on the latest sprained ankle in Owings Mills. Oh, and by the way, that’s Mr. Schmuck to you.
