Obviously, I'd walk a mile for a camel

PETEONCAMELsmaller.bmpThought you might like a little proof that I’m actually in the Middle East and not just trumping up a phony vacation so I don’t have to suffer through the Orioles’ latest losing streak with you. This is me trying to start my rental car, and it’s not going very well.

I'm starting to wonder if this noble fellow has a weight limit...or an Achilles injury...or too much pride to be seen carrying a Schmuck around on its back in Israel, if you get my drift. That's the old city of Jerusalem in the background. If it's not on your bucket list -- regardless of your religious affiliation -- it should be.

While you’ve been reveling in the Ravens’ big victory in San Diego and debating whether the O’s will make it to win No. 63, I’ve been touring the Holy Land with a group organized by St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Severna Park. It has been a very enlightening trip – especially at a time when President Obama is trying to broker new peace talks between the Israelis and Palestinians.

This is a politics-free zone (the blog, not the Middle East), so all I want to say about the situation here is that it has been very interesting to be a fly on the wall for the past week, traveling both in the Israeli-controlled sections of the country and in the areas under the Palestinian Authority.

I’ve tried to keep up with American sports, but the tour schedule has been intense and the seven-hour time difference has made it difficult to pay attention in real time. I followed the Ravens victory late Sunday night on the internet in a hotel lobby in Tiberius – reading the play-by-play on the ESPN.com gamecast. Tuesday morning, I saw the sun come up over the Sea of Galilee while watching the live broadcast of Peyton Manning engineering that final drive to defeat the Dolphins on Monday Night Football. Pretty cool.

Tomorrow, we’re headed for Masada and then to the caves where they found the Dead Sea Scrolls before heading to the airport for a 4 a.m. flight to Frankfurt and then home just in time to miss the Ravens game. I’m pretty confident they – and you -- can get through one more weekend without me, but I’ll have the blog back up to speed before you know it.

fire trembley

Peter,
Shame on you! I am calling PETA!! Dont you know the max capacity a camel can carry?? Don’t you know you exceed that!!

poor camel...

Is that a moustache on your face, Pete? If it is, please don't shave it right away when you get back. I mean, the O's season is over. You could even let it extend beyond the edges of your mouth if you want!

Hey Peter,
Let us know if you see a squadron heading in the general direction of Iran!

you need a falafel on a stick to dangle in front of the camels nose.

What kind of shirt is that? I'm not seeing any flowers or whacky patterns...but enjoy the vacation anyway, the O's it seems, are already on theirs.

I know the 7hr time difference is tough, but in my time being overseas, I have to suggest nfl.com instead of espn.com gamegast. It has more stats and better play by play. Have a safe trip!

Looks like Bigfoot trying to ride a camel. :-) Hey, don't do anything to ruin the peace talks because if they break down all of us will blame you. ;-)

Pete,

I am glad you enjoyed the Middle East! I am Lebanese but have never been to the Middle East myself. I'll make it there eventually.

As much as this season has been a total wash, I am actually looking forward to the standing ovation Mora gets his last game at Camden Yards this year. I'll feel horrible if the attendance is ~2000 though, so I am hoping there is a large turnout. He will always be one of my all-time favorite O's.

I know this is a bit premature, but who do you think manages the Orioles next year? Think it's Trembley? Someone else? Any thoughts?

are you wearing sweats?

Pete

You look like a bigger version of steven spielberg

Pete, I don't know if anyone else already asked, but is this whole business about 'touring the Middle East' a scam to divert attention from the fact that your Trojans lost last week? (As a Buckeye fan, I had to ask!)

The Orioles have been demoted and are moving to the Middle East. PA has Schmuck there looking at the new stadium and nearby facilities.

Did I say steven spielberg? I meant George Lucas... sorry!!!

HILLLLARIOUS! Schmuck and the Orioles are both taking September off!

Whats the story pete? Jeff Z and the Con wont keep up your blog for you? LOL

Hey Peter,

Let me fill you in on what you've missed:

The Orioles are bad at baseball.

Fortunately, though, Mr. Angelos has continued to excel at signing checks.

The O's may pitch to a team ERA of eleventy-billion, but at least they won't starve.

You mean you've missed it all Pete? We got Teixeira, A-rod and Sabbathia from the Yanks for Luke Scott, Melvin Mora, and Wiggington, and then picked up Albert Pujols from the Cards for Pie.
ESPN has the O's as odds on favorites to win it all next year, and you missed it to ride a camel.
That'll teach you.

Looks like the east side of Cleveland, to me.

Pete, sounds like you're having a great time! Sure miss you on the blog!!! Have a safe trip home.

Peter, obviously, your camel took the title of your bog to heart.......................

Peter, it is obvious your camel took the title of your blog to heart.......................

fire samuel. wigginton should have been sent. this game should be tied

With Pie out now, does that mean we get to see Winnington in the outfield for the rest of the season? I'm hopeful for the pure comedy of it even though it's likely Scott would play left with Fiorentino in center.

Can't the camel stand up?

Wiggy in the outfield would be high comedy gold!

That camel looks as overworked as the Orioles bullpen!!!!!

If the O's get swept in Cleveland (very possible), shouldn't Trembley be fired just to prove the organization is still paying attention?

We are getting beat because we cannot get an out from a .217 hitting catcher. We can't even throw him a strike. The only way to get rid of the loser's mentality is to bring a manager who instills a winning mentality into these players. Trembely is not the answer. He lost this team when he let Guthrie lose the July 31st game against Boston, and he lost this team when he didn't stand up to Mora.

8th inning, O's have 2 on with no one out. Wiggy the computor guy (you know, pops up at any time) is up and of course he's such a great hitter that DT (that SB) wouldn't dare ask him to bunt or somehow advance the runners. Oh, by the way, the O's did not score. Please AM fire this guy!

Whats's wrong with this picture Pete. The Orioles are down 3 to 2 in the eighth inning and Scott leads off with a double. Melvin Mora is up, one of the Orioles better butnters, and its a simple sacrifice to get him to third where almost anything will get him in with the infield back. So what does a major league manager do in this situation? Of course you have to sacrifice unless you are the Baltimore Orioles manager who doesn't gives a rat's as- if they win another game this season. So Mora doesn't sacrifice and the next batter flys to deep center which would have tied the game. For this reason and for other instances throughout the season I have observed, Trembley is done. Good-by chump.

Go Indians!

This series is a showdown for the No. 3 pick in the draft. That's all that's at stake, but it matters, because Cleveland and the O's aren't that different these days when it comes to draft philosophy. I don't mind being behind Pittsburgh, who's cheap enough to skip over somebody we might want. And the Nationals have a headlock on the No. 1 pick for the next few years. But No. 3 -- that's a much better spot than No. 4, and well worth losing these meaningless games for.

Matt Albers sucks!

I am stunned the Orioles are bad as they are could not find a way to put up more runs on Carmona!!! Total disgrace tonight.. Way to go Albers!!! Good job walking in a run hahahaha

Pete, my tribute to Maxwell Smart

the orioles have won 38 straight and are only two games back in the wild card race...

would you believe 9 straight and definitely will not lose 100 games?

would you believe they've played really inspired ball and played around 500 and Mora has been absolutely crushing the ball.... not to mention numerous clever moves by DT to steal a few wins?

how bout we've gotten a few bloop hits and had two pitchers throw fairly decent games in the past two weeks?

section 34, i completely agree with you. you said it all. pittsburgh is too cheap to take a good player so third is almost like having the second pick. i'm still holding out that maybe, juuuuust maybe, the orioles will somehow end up with bryce harper. i'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Pete--I see you traded in the turtle for a camel. Nice upgrade.

Good hearing from you again. Sounds like you're having a wonderful trip.

By the way, I'm thinking Ravens 41, Browns 10, with Ngata rumbling in with a fumble and Rice scoring two touchdowns.

Do you think ESPN's gamecast better than just "watching" the stats move on yahoo? Gamecast freezes a lot on me so I normally revert back to yahoo...

Perfect!

Pictures of Pete on a camel are far more entertaining than discussing the worst team in the AL.

Only losers talk every year about next year after yet another horrific season people. It becomes habitual. You can't help but hype your own bs....

Losers talk about how tough it is to beat the Yanks and Sox. Meanwhile, the O's are the best cure for Cleveland's 11 game losing streak.

Losers are the reason this organization gets away with it every year. They know you'll simply keep buying the shxxxt they keep selling.

No one has a clue if ALL the young arms will work out next year or the year after...Yet, that's what you all are expecting. Do you realize it rarely happens as you dream it will? Seriously, do you get that?

Do you also realize that other teams have good young players as well? I mean you act like the O's have now cornered the market. Meanwhile, teams like Oakland are again stocked with more quality than the O's.

John Angelos (PA's son) could care less about this team, and guess what folks? He has more say than dear ole dad. He will approve 'only' a medium level pick ups in the off season. There will be no splash!

When there is no splash, AM will gather the media to say what he said in Chicago for Years! And you'll all buy it!

For those that continue to buy what they're selling, including you Pete.......you deserve having the worst team in the AL. You deserve 12 years of losing.

You all have helped this team to remain pathetic! And until you stand up and hold the warehouse accountable, you'll be treated to more of the same.

So hit me with all your ignorant 'if you don't like the o's, or if you don't get the plan, then leave' post you want. Do so while you're watching your beloved O's embarrass themselves (and you) yet again with another L.

wayne,

dont get so worked up man its bad for you. This team is going to move anyway so just follow another one or football.

section 34,

How ridiculous!

Meaningless games? Tell me........ When is the last time this team played a meaningful game?

And for a game to be meaningless, wouldn't any previous game (any game) have to be meaningful?

What a bunch a crap. Really pisses me off to see you all put up with this losing, all under the pretense that you know baseball.

The orioles have become the Oakland Raiders. Playing for top draft picks year after year after year. Have yu seen where it's gotten them section 34?

At least Al Davis has a couple rings. What does Angelos have.....accept for asbestos under his fingernails......

Just saw your post Wayne...... Thanks man! I know we're in the majority, yet those on these blogs sit around in their O's pj's every night, praying that markakis gets to 20 hr's (as if that will matter).... and he's the best on the team? Good fielder, but he has zero speed, little power, and knocks in rbi's because he hits for decent average in the 3 hole.... He's not even a top 12 AL of, and he's the cornerstone? And where's Jones? Guess this guy is proving he can't stay on the field. And he's the other cornerstone? Good Grief, what a team!

Pete (not Pete S)

Markakis and Jones aren't the problem, They're both young and have alot of potential.

On most teams, they wouldn't have the pressure of being the 'cornerstone's'. And I'm not talking the Yankee's!

Other medium market teams would surround them with a couple solid vets. Not the O's however!

John Angelos will not spend money now, next year, or at anytime in the near future. Write it down people. JA, not PA is the problem......and he absolutely does not care.

He had no choice but to pay robrts and markakis. If he didn't, the payroll would be near marlins like and people would notice.

As it is, many haven't noticed, thus the blind faithful let them get away with it.

So no..... don't blame a couple young players who shouldn't be in the position they're in in the first place.

The Orioles magic number??? 102.

Pete,
Did you leave the country to avoid getting ripped by Oriole fans for being a big dope all season?

I just got home and watched the game (parts of it, as I had to fast forward), but the part I was amazed at was when Juan, didn't send Wiggy. The O's needed that damn run and that fool, does nothing. DT, is a goner, but I would be just as pissed if Juan, was still here. The guy doesn't get it.

We made a lifeless Jays team, come to life and now a team that's almost as pathetic as us, beat us. This team in my opinion, is worse than the 88 team.

I thought Famous Dave, was going to bring JJ in to keep the game at 1 run, but why not bring a guy that refuses to have surgery so essentially is pitching with a hole in his arm. Albers, needs surgery or needs to be cut. Not trying to sound like an a$$, but his arm isn't going to get better with a band aid and a kiss on his boo boo from Juan.

Just curious, why even call up Justin Turner? The guy is a legit prospect and these are still real games, awful, but real so why not play him or do we need to see more of Wiggy? Same with Aubrey, as the kid has been good with the glove and the bat. He's not a HR guy, but he could be another 40 doubles type guy in the vein of Sean Casey. The O's are now playing him a bit more, but all this time, he could've been playing against the Sox and Yanks, but instead it's Wiggy or Luke.

I am not sympathetic to Dave. He was given the chance of a lifetime and even though these aren't the Yanks, Dave, was being judged on fundamentals, not wins and losses and he has failed at the task at hand.

PS I know the Duck Boat Tours in Baltimore, are dead, but do you really think the folks in Baltimore are ready for The Schmuck Goes There: Camel guided tour of Baltimore?

I congratulate Cleveland for getting 34,000 fans in the seats against our losers. If it were reversed this weekend , Baltimore wouldn't draw 34,000 for the entire 3 game series. But, I guess that's ok these days with the Angelos boys...as long as they get their 34,000 Yankee & Sox fans at each game for their 4 series at OPACY each year their accountants can keep them very rich without even trying.

Wayne Pete other negative naysayers,
curious how you fellas always mention Chicago and Macphail and never Minnesota. Yeah, I sure hope we don't go to two world series like they did when he was in charge. And I sure hope we don't get really close to the world series like Chicago did for the first time in like a million years.

Thanks for your upbeat attitude.
I sure hope you don't work for a suicide prevention hotline...

By the way....ALL the pitchers that are highly touted by people OUTSIDE the organization don't ALL have to be great at the same time. There are more on the way after Matuzs and Tillman and Bergesen...

But if you watched those three pitch and you think it's just the same as other years, you don't really know baseball anyway.
pssst..... It's mainly about starting pitching and we have lots here and on the way.

Pete -- which do you think will happen first: a comprehensive peace settlement in the middle east, or a winning season by the Os?

Who's the bigger hump in that photo?

Pete: Actually, a big part of the O's current problem is that they have NOT played for the draft pick. Instead of trading veterans at the deadline like they did this year, they instead have held onto all their players in an attempt to win 78 games instead of 68.

This is what rebuilding looks like. Have patience. Your support for the team in doing what it should have done starting exactly 10 years ago will help MacPhail stick to the plan. It's the first real plan the O's have had since the early '90s.

Wanye,

thank you, thank you, thank you!

I sometimes go to these blogs to see if anyone (anyone) has the sense to ever tell it like it is. Sadly though, few ever do.

With Section 34 spouting off about 'patience' and 'the plan', it makes one wonder if they're planted O's employee's. It simply makes no sense otherwise to actually type the words 'rebuilding', 'patience' and 'plan'. All words that have been thrown around this town for over a decade.

And Bill Frederick.... Are yo kidding me? You're talking about when Andy was in Minny? When was that BF? And please tell me how baseball is the same as it was then? Laughable!

You hit right on it Wayne. As long as there are blind fans like the ones I've mentioned, and the one's you describe, nothing will ever change. Why? because as you say, the warehouse will never see a need.

So thanks again! You see, I don't see you as being negative. Instead, I see you as one of the few who are actually trying to help. Everything else spouted from the likes of sec 34 and BF is simply music to PA's ears....

It's been bad for a long, long time. As a late 60's fan forward, this organization has fallen from the gem of basebell, to the laughing stock.

WHY would we have not traded HUFF coming off the year he had in the offseason? Did we really think he was a .300, 32, 100 kind of guy year in and out? Reminds me of when we traded Surhoff. The only diff is I liked Surhoff, but after that career year, they waited to trade him and got far less value. BTW, Huff has really been sinking it up for the Tigers.

Why did we not pursue an Adam Dunn in the last offseason? Perfect DH. PROVEN 40 HR, 110 RBI, and .385 - .400 OBP. wow...way better than ANYONE on this team since who knows...

Nobody wants to come here. The o's will have to overpay for a few excellent free agents and then get great quickly through the draft and farm system. #1 or #2 will not happen with the ownership we have. I ask, why...why would someone want to hold on to this team when they are doing so much damage and have no passion obviously for the team, the city or the fans. It's just flat out wrong, and JA and PA know it. To cut ties with the mighty 1090 AM because soemone was speaking the truth?

So fans, with a puppet in AM as GM, or any other GM they put in there...no matter the manager, no matter their two-three near all star caliber players year in and out...and their poor handling of the drafts and farm system...nothing will change until somehow, someway, the ownership is replaced with "Ravens" like ownership and management.

I miss the O's. :-(

Stop bitching everyone yeah this team stinks but if you dont like it watch something else. LOL its a baseball team if you are that pathetic and need attention go get a dog or get married or seek professional help.

Hey Pete,

Now that I know you're touring with a church, why did you say you're going FOR the Jewish New Year, when, in fact, you were going there for a regular vacation?

Have fun at Masada, it's certainly a climb. But wait, if you're going on Shabbos, are you sure these places will be open? I don't think the Dead Sea Scrolls Museum will be open for visitors. Don't forget, you may be with a church but the Land of Israel is the JEWISH state, most things aren't open on Shabbat.

.............................................................................................
Pete's reply: Sorry for the confusion. I didn't say I was going for the Jewish New Year. I said I was going to be there at that time. The trip was booked six months ago and wasn't planned around the Jewish holidays. Spent the first day last week (Saturday) resting, so scheduling wasn't a problem. Went to Masada and Qumran on this past Saturday, but everything was open.

Anonymous...figures, no guts no glory. You are one of those that make the country stink. no cares, no values, no traditions...go pet your own dog, or wife...whatever...

Pathetic is not having anything useful to say...a.k.a you!

Listen,

It used to be that people would unconditionally stand up for the O's. Oh, a few still remain as one can see by these post, but many are now cowards (see any response by any anonymous).

Problem is, most who believe in the o's are now embarrassed to admit such, thus all the anonymous post. Cowards yes, but also understandable....

I applaud posters like Wayne, dtman7, al, etc... They at least have balls. They at least make sense.

All that remains for the believers is saying things like 'watch something else'. What ignorant posters like that don't get is....... people all over are watching something else, as the O's have been and continue to be unwatchable.

Pete and all the other Vagin@s on here you need a hobby. Stop bitching Im so sick of it at this point man up and carry on.

DTMAN7 and Pete

Do you guys live with your parents?

Pete,
Markakis would be the starting right fielder for any team in either league.
When someone talks stupid like you do, I feel confident I can discount any other garbage you care to post here.
Go watch something else

DTMAN7, Pete and all the other little girls on here going on a blog to rip the orioles doesnt do anything to help the cause. We have heard it all year long and its really annoying. You guys need to go outside and do something else. Get control of your lives!

Shouldn't somebody tell Nick to stop pulling off every pitch? The used to call it stepping into the bucket....

It is too bad that the fans want to win more than the manager does. Sean Henn? Did AM acquire this garbage to protect a two run lead in the seventh? I don't think so. Second time this week we have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

What a bunch of spineless whimps!

You sit there in your oriole pajama's, unconditionally standing by your team loss after loss after loss after loss.... Do you realize you've lost all credibility? Do you see that?

It just never stops!

Someone earlier suggested some of you are likely on the warehouse payroll in some capacity. I believe it as anyone defending this team the way some of you do are either morons or employed by the o's. Either way, you sound like complete idiots.

I may not always agree with the naysayers, but every single one is closer to the truth than those who are blind.

Jim66, Pete didn't say Markakis wasn't a good player. Instead he suggested that young players like him shouldn't have the pressure of being 'the cornerstones' of the team. Fact is, Nick doesn't hit for power, and fact is, he has little to no speed. He barely hits 300 and he gets alot of rbi's because he bats in a producing position in the line-up. He is however, a great fielder and has tremendous all around upside. Fact is though, there are a ton of players better...yet he's our cornerstone (with all the pressure of being such).... That was Pete's point - yet idiots like you never listen.

Enjoy another night of losing and dream of better days while sleeping in on your oriole bed sheets.

What do you get when you mix the worst talent with the worst manager? Another hapless September. There is no way the O's should be 0-5 on this road trip. This road trip should be the message to AM that Trembley is not our manager going forward. Please put us out of our misery and give us some hope. Get a good manager that someone might actually bust their butt for. And stop signing the worthless free agent garbage such as Wigginton.

Baseball's best version of Russian roulette continues. Someone needs to control Trembley.

Many Orioles fans on this blog seem to be suffering from dementia and are dreaming up conspiracy theories. The Orioles situation is not that elaborate.. They are just a small market team that is rebuilding. Did anybody expect this team to be good anytime soon? Nope. If watching the Orioles makes you guys act batshit I recommend you seek professional help. Tell a doctor about your delusional Hollywood conspiracy theories about the Orioles and get on medication. Go to groups or sessions so you don’t have to spread your insanity on a sports blog. You people are pathetic.

Dougy, you seem so mad...

Have I yet to call you or Petey an idiot?
Not even moron.Or fool. Or whiner.

What is with this conspiracy theory?
Yes, it was AM on the grassy knoll, no it could not be just one GM, there must be at least 2 or 3, plus legions of blind followers all working in the warehouse,
filling up the blog with babble from the Leader.
Are you that wacked?

Petey scoffed at markakis being the cornerstone of the team, he suggested nothing about young players suffering because they are the cornerstone of the team, as you read into his post as you felt the need to defend Petey.
Markakis is 25 years old. He has had no protection in the lineup. He has Mora hitting behind him, before that Huff.
Check out texeira's numbers before and after ARod was back in the Yankee lineup.
What am I to make of this quote-'He gets a lot of rbis because he hits in a producing position in the lineup'.
See any 100 rbi guys batting seventh lately?

Doug,

How did you find out my secret!! Yes I employ many out of work people from Detroit, the state of Ohio and unemployed college graduates to sit around all day and post pro Orioles propaganda on all the local Baltimore Orioles websites. You got me!

Harry,
What is this conspiracy theory again?

Translated thru the Warehouse Decoder Ring, the previous statement really says:
(Thank you for your recent contribution to the Orioles Secret Admiration Society. Note:We are changing the blog drop zone.Zone 7 has been compromised. Revert to blog zone 3A. Tell everyone else.Continue posting nothing but wonderful things. They'll never guess this is a big conspiracy thing. No way.
signed,
Conspirator #5 holed up in a warehouse somewhere in Baltimore)

HELP ME!!! I have been in this place for months!!! its like the movie CUBE the warehouse moves rooms around so you can never find your way out!! OH MY GOD!!! This room is trapped i have to....

-End of transmission-

I used to work for Andy Macphail and know the truth behind the madness. Yes Macphail is not only responsible for sabotaging the Chicago Cubs and Orioles he is the causing unemployment, global warming. Peter Schmuck and the fast food chain Baja Fresh. He is pure evil and must be stopped!

come to think of it, AM does bear striking resemblance to Patrick Macnee who was in The Avengers. I mean if you give him a top hat and an umbrella...
Me thinks he's been found out!

This years orioles are as bad as the 1988, 1954, and 1912 teams.

Look at today’s standing there is a good chance the Orioles will finish with a worse record than Pittsburgh.

Maybe the Nats can win out and tie the Orioles for the worst record in baseball hahaha

That's ok Q. Next year the Pirates will play in the AL East and they can recapture their crown.

Andy MacPhail is responsible for the zombie outbreak in Raccoon City.

Andy MacPhail invented cocaine.

Andy MacPhail planted Steve Bartman in the stands at Wrigley.

Andy MacPhail planted Jeffrey Maier in the stands at Yankee Stadium.

I'm with you Pete,

What morons! If I hear another misplaced idiot say this is a small market, i'll start to think washington fans are smarter.

Balt is not NY folks, but it's not a small market. Look it up before you continue to buy into what the axxholes in the warehouse are feeding you.

Wake the f up?

Thanks Al,

Doesn't matter though! Like Wayne said long ago in this blog..... As long as there are fans buying what they're shoveling, the o's will continue giving us the product they deserve.

Doesn't matter!

Pete, why didnt you take JJ with you?
He sure is stinking up the place while your gone! Man, is he having a rough time as the closer.....in case you didnt notice!

Love ya JJ but you got to get your sh*t together and fast....you can do it....I think...

wayne, pete and al as the voices of reason.
that's a nice mutual admiration society you have going on
i'm sensing a.....conspiracy.

FACT,

More households were tuned into very old re-runs of Married With Children (on an obscure cable channel) than were watching MASN near the end of yet another O's loss.

At 1057 fm, the ratings are so bad (during o's games) that they're now officially losing beyond even their worst estimates.

People simply no longer care.

Some, like the dozen or so on these blogs are optimistic about next year. The vast majority however, no longer care about the orioles. They're not going to games, they're not watching them on tv and they're not listening on the radio.......and sorry Pete, but they're not reading about them in the Sun anymore.

These are facts people! it's not about being negative, and it's much bigger than saying 'they'll be back when the o's win'. It's beyond that now!

John Angelos and his dad don't care about the stats above - not really! You can believe that or not.......

Teams have bad seasons, yes! Few however, go through long periods like this. The O's are one of the proud few!

If you knew how bad the situation now is at 1057 (because of the orioles), maybe a few of you would understand how seriously things are.

I know i'll get ignorant responses to this post, but that's ok. I just feel bad because good people are in a tough situation because PA and son have once again misrepresented the product in a way most just don't understand.

Too bad!

Andy is JJ's REAL dad!!!!!!

Baltimore is a small market team. There i said it now what nener nener you suck!

wayne

Go rant off to your fellow World Of Warcraft guild. Nobody gives a *hit.

Hey Schmuck!
I am glad you offer a blog to make little people like wayne that bag groceries or work menial jobs feel like powerful GMs of baseball teams! Keep up the good work you are helping the community.

jim66, settle down homie. not everyone agrees with you, and that's ok. i for one, am tired of listening to those who continue to preach optimism when there's absolutely no reason to do so. i see people predicting a starting rotation next year as if the orioles will be respectable next year. Based on what? Some borderline 'decent' stats (i'll give you bergeson if he can repeat)? Come on jimboy, do you have a job where it's ok to always lose? where it's always ok to be at the bottom? Where you never do anything meaningful? If so, then by all means........keep typing! Especially if it's good therapy.. peace

wayne, pete and al are all the same conspiracy nut off his meds that needs some kind of cause to live. The truth is if the Orioles were doing good then he would be miserable and have to find something else to complain about because his life stinks so much.

Andy Macphail is responsible for the last Indiana Jones movie.

lol!

yo wayne, you got more than you bargained for with this group.

Hey nerds, I happen to know wayne has been a full season season ticket holder for years. No one supports the o's with his caaaash more that that guy.

And Gregg, why do you have to dis those who bag groceries? A little defensive are we? And do you always pick on those with menial gigs?

All in all peeps..... you heads are in the sand and you have no clue as to which way is up.

Come on wayne, some of that shxxxt written is pretty funny. Now let's go - if we're going to make it in time for the bagging night shift....

Why do Oriole fans act like Peter Angelos is a villain in a Superman movie? Yeah he’s a bad owner but does talking crap on a blog help the matter in any way whatsoever? Even if he is tanking, compromising the GMs job etc etc etc We are going to just have to wait and take what we can get. If you are that offended about the Orioles current situation go root for the Yankees, Tigers, Sox, or some other playoff team. College football and NFL are going on now too. Sooner or later this team will be good again so until then just enjoy the ride.

Let's Go Orioles?

Come on.... that's hilarious!

Are you the one trying to drown out the red sox fans at oriole park during the 'Let's Go Red Sox' chant?

I love it! keep cheering

All in all peeps..... you heads are in the sand and you have no clue as to which way is up.

LOL golden

homie? jimboy? you're killing me.
as far as i can tell, you're last rant consisted of : you're tired of unfounded optimism, and you want to know about my job.Close? peace.this is just too funny.

how about two blogs. One is for baseball. The other one is where all of the folks who have a beef with the owner - whether it be business, civic, legal, conspiracy theories,
the business end of baseball, his kids, his wife, his career, what he eats for dinner, his relationship with players and fans- can post their gripes. It's pretty obvious after reading this blog that the man has done and does nothing at all for the citizens of Baltimore, people don't like it, and want to vent. Just a suggestion.

Jim,

Most these guys need to go on a WNST blog and have circle jerk with Nestor.

In all seriousness, fans will come back. The Patriots, had at least 75% Jets, Bills and Dolphins fans when they played in Foxboro Stadium. They were awful, so awful that you had to search to find any info about them in the papers, as they were so far behind the Sox, Celtics and Bruins, but then Belichick comes along and all of sudden, it's a 30 year wait list. Fans will always come back when the product is good. Celtics were getting 12,000 a night in a nearly 19,000 seat arena, but they get KG and Ray Ray and boom, sell outs. Fans, are angry and rightfully so, as this has been worse than 88, but not long ago, the Angels, weren't drawing and after some stability in the coaching staff, ownership and a productive farm system, they are sold out on a nightly basis.

On a side note, anyone else like Michael Aubrey? I like what I am seeing from him. He has a certain type of approach that doesn't seem to lend itself to hitting funks. He hits the ball over the field and doesn't try to do too much.

Lastly, no more deals with the Twins. 1st we get Bass and now Henn. The O's got Henn pecked tonight when that idiot was all over the place. I see why the Yanks, Padres and Twins, said "you are a great actor, but your stuff isn't that good."

Well Pete,my three predictions of months ago are looking good.Huff and Sherrill are traded for next to nothing, and we are rapidly approaching 100 losses. With the abysmal start of the maryland football team, one can only hope the Raven's offense continues to play well and the defense improves, and the Maryland men's basketball team finds itself early. On the bright side, the Terps had the third youngest team in the nation, and are now the 2nd youngest after injuries and have a very good recruiting class coming in next year. But with only ACC games coming up,my bowl game prediction is looking very slim at best.Best wishes for a continued good trip and a better camel.

Greetings from Finland. I have a similar picture of myself from the Pyramids. I have for now dumped the Redskins and hopped on the Ravens bandwagon. Sick of losing. But I still love the O's.

Birdland Todd,

I like Michael Aubrey as well. He is obviously on a hot streak but the quality contact he is making does not seem like a fluke. He looks like a professional hitter who is focused. At the least he has made himself into a player someone else would want in trade - possibly Florida as part of a package for Dan Uggla.

Personally, I would be fine with him as the 1st baseman next year as opposed to bringing back Huff or converting Luke Scott. I still think the improving pitching needs above average defense to survive in the AL East.

You went all the way to the Middle East to see the Dead Sea Scrolls? All you had to do is go to the bullpen at Camden Yards to see them. They're all there; Chris Ray Sean Henn, Matt Albers, Danys Baez, Brian Bass, Chris Lambert, Bob McCrory, Dennis Sarfate. And you went all the way around the world to see the Dead Sea Scrolls when you could have walked a few blocks.

fire friedgen

The straw that broke the camels back!

The bullpen does need work! Since the Sherrill trade it has been awful.

As sick as this Oriole team is right now...much of where we are is based on McFail & not only Trembley. For God's sake, what could the absolute BEST managers in baseball do with these slugs? McFail traded away Sherrill for the Cookie Monster...are you telling me George wouldn't have slammed the door on 3/4 of the blown saves Johnson & Ray have given us since his trade? What about Markaikis...do you think much of his tailspin in Sept. is due to not having Huff hitting behind him? Say what you want about Huff's struggles this year, pitchers still didn't want to give him anything fat so Nick got far better pitches to hit in front of him. With Huff gone, Nick sees slop & he tries to do too much & his struggles continue. Who the hell will be the closer on this team next year when were supposed to be that much closer to contention? McFail started to read his press clippings of how great he was in the Bedard & Miggy trades...yea, real brilliant. I totally agree with Dennis Eckersley's statement on the Oriole bullpen..."They have 13 guys out there & I'm not sure any of them belong up here". How true...and yet people are all over Trembley because these goons can't get major league hitters out? They trade away one of the best closer/relievers in the game for a vending machine & that's his fault? Huff gets unloaded for a kid that has a putrid walk to strikeout ratio in A ball & now nobody is in this lineup to protect Nick & again, Trembley's fault? Sorry, these are the cards ANDY dealt Trembley & to expect him to make chicken salad out of this chicken shi t is beyond freaking stupid. MeFail needs to be held to the same standard...if he's unloading Trembley for the crap he has to work with then he should also step down because he made a difficult job IMPOSSIBLE with his trades of wisdom. Until you get Dave a real MAJOR LEAGUE roster to work with...hold off on all the frustration...it's directed to the wrong person.

Shalom Pete! It's a pretty unbelievable experience for both Christians and Jews, isn't it? It's a country where you can look at a rock formation out the bus window or when hiking a trail and say "hey...one of the Prophets likely saw that".
It's humbling for us Americans who think of ourselves as the "center of the world" to realize that in the history of the world, we are but infants.
Kind of puts things into perspective.
Don't know you personally beyond saying "hi" at the games and the blog, but next season I'll be sure to say "Shalom".
Welcome home and look forward to reading your blog

Well said Jack! Next time do not hold back!

Seth and Anon... no but I bet you both have Perez Hilton posters in your rooms.

Good discussions from most here. If you do not like the O's then why jump in to make fools of yourselves? People here love the game of baseball...other than Perez Hilton, what do you like?

Pete i haven't made a posting since you left, Welcome back i hope you had a great time. There isn't a whole lot left to say concerning the orioles that hasn't been said over 1000 times already. But for you fans that want to continue to persecute yourself and believe in something that is so far from becoming realitly i truly feel for you. This team while younger is a complete train wreck and the direction and the plan after this season is so flawed that is beyond argument. The whole relief staff needs to be completely revamped and that might even included johnson who has demonstrated a complete lack of effectiveness since george left. Nick is barely and i mean barely hanging on for the finish line to appear. What a complete shame. The only thing left for me is whether they bring dave t back.

Well said Jack.

I can only imagine the conversations in the warehouse these days.

Poor Weiters...coming here to nothing.

Look, if the O's would have got equal value for their recent trades, maybe we could say we were building. We got nada. Sure dealing Bedard was good, but to any real fan, that was a no brainer.

AM, I could do better than you. Well, maybe..is AM tied by JA and PA or is he just like El Cid...past his time and prime?

Thanks to the Angelos group of thieves, we will never be anything, as stated before without them GONE!!!

Hi Bob, I agree the bullpen has failed, badly. They are not all a wreck though. Johnson and Hendrickson have been good. Really Ray and Baez should get somewhat of a break after coming off surgery, really not too many pitchers come back the very next year and pitch well. They have to learn to do things differently. But we have to remember that their has been several injuries and having having Matusz and Bergesen shut down. Chances are that Jones would have been able to play this week, but why risk it. All these guys are out for one reason or another.
the shutdown or injured list is not good
Jones
Reimold
Bergessen
Matusz
Koji
Pie (most likely)

It has been a nightmare to manage. The Orioles do not have the depth to be able to sustain, considering they had to move Hendrickson back into the rotation. What a year!

To all who say we got nothing for Sherrill and Huff.
You don't know what you are talking about.
Jack, you really would rather Markakis have Huff hitting behind him for a month than possible to have our 3rd baseman for the next ten years?
Your really serious?
You all who keep jumping on Macphail are showing your ignorance over and over. You don't know how to build a team. You don't know how bad the minots were when he got here.
Plain and simple, you just don't know jack
By the way Jack, You do realize that Huff was stinking it up most of this year and the idea that he was providing this protection for markakis is laughable. Oh, and he went like 3 for 36 when he left here.
I liked Huff but trading him was a good idea and so was the Sherrill Trade.

Pete,
Please start posting again.
The inmates are running the asylum.

I mean "Macphail stinks" Yeah
"Well I think he stinks too" Yeah
"and he never did anything in Chicago"

but how about minnesota?
"oh a long time ago, the game has changed.

" I hate peter Angelos Yeah
"Well said but I hate him more"

"Yeah he never spends money on free agents' Yeah

"Yeah Macphails plan sucks"

"They traded away one of the best closers in baseball"

We could have one at least 2 more games this year....but now we are stuck with this power hitting corner infielder who was ripping up the minors this year.

yeah but I still say MacFAIL is a loser

and on and on and on

DTMAN7 says..
AM, I could do better than you

Thats easily the most stupid and at the same time hilarious
post yet this year.
But I must consider the source.

DTMAN7-you'd have a hard enough time finding your office. Please, no more laugh out loud funny junk out of you.

But since you're on a roll, and ready to step in as GM when called, I figure you must know the major league teams inside and out. What would have been fair value for those two?

The orioles should petition the league to please just end the season today. This is a absolute embarassment to all concerned. This team is mentally and physically destroyed and if you think the off season alone is going to fix it you are seriously mistaken. I can't ever remember feeling this bad about a oriole team ever.

DTMAN

Who is Perez Hilton? A new RP or warehouse front office emp you hate?

Hey DTMAN I know you are off your meds again and upset your redskins just took a beating by the lions but just relax its going to be okay buddy :)

Bill F,

I agree but disagree. Huff was not going to get his option picked up, so really Huff is on loan to the Tigers and would never had made a difference, who knows where Huff will be in December. With Sherrill it is totally different, he could not go anywhere for two more years, would have been offered arbitration. Finding good lefties is like finding the needle in a hay stack. If the Orioles want Huff in 2010 they can simply offer him a contract. Sherrill is now going to be a Dodger for the next two years, who knows maybe they will win the World Series, it would sure make me happy to see anyone but the Redsox and Yankees win it.

Jack,
your post represents the obvious rants and raves of the lunatic fringe. No I did not call you a lunatic I don't think.

And people are congratulating you on that babble.Whew...

Is it your premise that AM expected DT to do anything with this roster? Haven't you paid attention to anything the guy has said all year? The least you could do is read his press clippings and get yourself grounded .

How much protection did Huff actually give Markakis? The guy was hitting 250 with 13 HRs. I'd rather pitch to him than Nick. You got it backwards.

You always got it backwards.

I have to think that this late September melt down will cost Trembley his job. Although they are playing with zilch, nada, rien and next to nothing, statistically even a
mega-horrible team like this bunch should be able to win one freakin' game, if for no other reason than the other side has a bad night or whatever.

The Huff trade was a good trade.

The Sherrill trade was less than brilliant, if for no other reason than it violated the spirit of Macphail's very own dicta: grow the arms, BUY the bats. You get an arm like Sherrils, you keeps it.
(Yeah, I know, we didn't grow Sherrill, but still).
Bullpens are critical un any era. While FRob clearly was decisive in 1966, it was the vibrant bullpen of Moe Drabowski and Eddie Watt that got the Os over the finish line. Bullpens aren't sexy, but try to win a pennant without them.

Wayne,

you've been right all along.... Everything you've said has come true and everything those being optimistic have sputtered has been false. Problem is, i wish you had been wrong.

The O's team and organization are losers! Anyone suggesting they're on a correct path are pathetic!

The only difference with AM is.... The o's are losing with younger players, younger arms. Doesn't matter what kind of players make up the losing, as losing is losing....

Pete will come back with some kind of funny, optimistic blog about how this year is different, how this offseason brings more hope...... and of course the never ending 'you didn't expect them to win this year, did you'?

Most of you will buy right into it, all while the orioles make a mockery of what once was a proud tradition in this town.

Fans and media who make excuses for this team should be embarrassed to show yourselves in public.

So the Orioles may lose 100 games this season instead of the normal 93... Big deal. The team is on a good direction and in most cases things have to get worse before they get better.

Pete, Iope you're enjoying your Middle East sojourn. Everyone needs a break from covering the the Orioles.

Here's a video to honor your camel ride:
http://www.livevideo.com/media/playvideo_fs.aspx?fs=1&cid=8C2D578533D2430888E84FB5E40B08B4

Actually Wayne is not correct. The TV ratings are down but radio is up and attendance is down. It has been a tough year, especially the last month. But the team will get healthy and and will have three months of busy work ahead of them. It will be interesting to see what happens, but there are positives going into next year. The bullpen needs to have a changeover of personnel and the corner infielders will change, but it really is about the pitching, you cannot win when you allow more than 5 runs a game, and that has too be fixed.

The Browns of baseball

Should not be to upset with anything. This many rookies on one team with little experienced talent will have a year like this. Just have to hope it will be better.

Does not matter, we have great football and the Ravens are awesome.

lol!

that's all one can really do...... lol!

wayne has a fan club
too bad it's al and petey

Wayne is right. John Angelos will not spend money now, next year, or at anytime in the near future. Write it down people. JA, not PA is the problem......and he absolutely does not care.

My voe for this year's unsung hero award is Hendrickson. When I first heard that we signed him, my first reaction was one of disgust. My fears were proven correct at the beginning when he got hit around like a pinata but once he went to the 'pen, he turned into a pretty reliable reliever. Overall, he's been our most consistent arm out of the 'pen(not to hard I'll admit given the collection of sad sacks down there!).
Still, he didn't complain and he took the ball in a starting role again recently and gave us solid outings. He even stated he'd like to come back in '10-must be a sucker for punishment!
Hats off to Mark Hendrickson-a solid pro on a team that unfortunately is once again showing its' ugly side by basically packing it in with an embarassing finish.
I can't believe the O's have sunk even lower than prior years regarding their play in Aug/Sept. It's easy to blame everything on injuries but what about the guys wearing a big league uniform? They should be seizing this chance to show their stuff and grab a roster spot for next year. Instead most of these clowns are showing they don't belong in the bigs; pretty bad when other teams announcers notice how putrid some of these guys, mainly pitchers, really are!
On a positive note, my Detroit Lions finally won one and the O's will be put out of their misery in a week...

The needs for 2010:

Manager: Must have major league experience.

3B: O's need to move fast and either trade or sign someone, but this is a position where you can't just plug someone in so this to me, is a vital position to fill.

1B: The O's could use a combo or best man wins in spring training.

DH: I think Scott, will be packaged in a trade so I am ruling him out, but this is the spot where I would go after Jim Thome. He's old, but he has power and would protect Markakis. Jim, hits well in Baltimore and still is a 30 HR 80-90 RBI guy plus he's a team player.

SP: The O's need a guy like Garland. He will give them innings, leadership and he's good, but not spectacular so he's not someone that they don't have a shot at (see Lackey).

BP: This is where the Sherrill deal kills the O's. Unless they let Koji and JJ, duke it out, they will spend more than Sherrill would've made in the next 2 years on a closer. I do have this feeling that Koji, could be a lights out closer, but his health, concerns me.

What's everyone else's top priorities?

PS congrats to the O's Bird, for getting both those girls preggers, as at least someone on this team knows how to score.

Ok,
Al, Wayne, Doug,Petey...

Please get together and write one coherent post for the blog that explains your position once and for all. Then stop. That would be much more useful than me(or anyone else) having to follow your congratulatory rants, which seem to amount to nothing more than berating the entire organization for what everyone knew, including the GM, was going to be a losing year, and predicting future failure based on that. Oh, and then name-calling anyone who posts a dissenting opinion(that does see this year as a stepping stone to a better run organization).

I know you can do it. I mean, who's smarter than you four?

Jim66,

more than just those guys, i'm here to tell you.

We're tired, and at least Wayne speaks the truth.

You don't sir! That's hard to hear, but true! Fans like you simply follow with whatever management says.

it's old, it's tired, and we're fed up with not just the losing, but the excuses. The continued bs excuses that people like you can't help but to always give.

Just stop!

I'm sure glad they don't allow weapons in here!

It's simple really.....

They simply always lose!

Different players, different year, different gm.....same L's. Get it Jimbo?

The best always is 'everyone knows we weren't going to win this year'. That's always classic!

Guess what though Jimbob? PA and AM said the 'exact' same thing last year..... and you all followed like you always do.

What's more coherent than talking about what one see's Jimboy? No hitting, no staring pitching, no bullpen, and getting swept by the cleveland indians, a team in total disarray when the O's came to town.

And you call us incoherent? You come across like a complete nut case.

Do you think this is little league sir? Is it ok that you just keep trying and play as hard as you can? Or are you just used to losing at everything you do?

Come on... Grow some and get real for once!

Al

All you do is bitch on here. You never say anything at all you just rant about nothing or act like you are going to lead some sort of nerd rebellion on the warehouse. Sober up man you’re not going to do shit you probably have nothing better to do so you come on a blog and complain like a little bitch. We all knew this was going to be a rough season so you can either watch something else or follow the team. That’s it buddy your bitching is not going to help anything except make you look like an asshole. Either tough it out and support your team or move to Pittsburgh with your world or warcraft guild wayne DTMAN etc.

Al,

It's useless to argue with those who are optimistic about the O's. I think anyone who sees a bright things in O's right now, should check themselves into a mental clinic. These are folks who "focus" on the positives because they can't handle reality. It's probably how their real life revolves as well.

How 'bout them Ravens. They're 3-0. I wish the Ravens could play baseball too. I bet they would be better than the O's.

anonymous

man up bugger...... give your name..... and while you're at it, you man want to learn how to write - just a little perhaps?

hey guys, there's another 'we knew this was going to be a rough season' rant.... wow! so funny!

Slugger,

I know, but it's unbelievable to see the ignorance. Unbelievable to see people so use to losig, that it becomes a part of their lives.

And you make a GREAT point. Since the Ravens have many players who played baseball in high school, I bet they could feel a team that's at least fun to watch.

I mean could they be worse? Would they lose 10 in a row and get swept by cleveland worse than these jokers?

Could any of them (the great athletes that they are) have done worse than Tillman today? You know, one of the guys who will save the O's next year?

But wait..... he's pitched alot of innings this year, and he's still young.

Guess what? he'll be young and bad again nxt year as well.

Anyway, great idea Slugger!

NEWSFLASH!
The Orioles do not owe you anything! The fact is if the Ravens sucked you would hate them also because you are terrible fans.

What's everyone else's top priorities?

Replacing the 8 statue.

Anonymous- Orioles front office employees shouldn't post here.

ABSOLUTELY,

Ravens players, suited up as O's players could do NO worse. Maybe they'd lose by larger margins....but who cares????

L's are L's are L's are L's are L's.......

They could do NO worse! It's not even laughable, because it's so true!

It's fun to read the posts, and a great way to keep up with the O's. I haven't watched any games since the season ended last week.

Just a thought, I think the O's should keep Trembly next year, and here's why:

The O's will be losers again, not improving much if any. They'll probably have pretty much the same players, minus Mora ( not a great loss). They probably won't get any descent players, nobody wants to play here. A new manager, no matter how good, will probably be affected more by the losing attitude of the club, than having a positive effect on the club. The young players need more playing time to improve. So, a new manager, to me, would be a waste, let Trembly work for the year, as the same players get more playing time in.

The fans? Awe, to hell with the fans. It's been that way for years.

you're mad as hell and you're not going to take it anymore

i asked for one single post from the group and i get the same rant 5 different ways

except on this one i learn that the ravens had guys that played high school baseball.
one curveball from beckett and Big Johnny Football Player goes running back to the dugout. Cut out the nonsense.

and this little gem from the next GM...
These are folks who "focus" on the positives because they can't handle reality. It's probably how their real life revolves as well.
Freud speaks.

this is just way too funny

Hey Jim,

Are you really as stupid as you sound?

Reality? Did you say reality?

Check the box scores dude. That's reality!

Check the losing bro. That's reality!

Go back and read the Sun clips from years ago, and as recent as last year. Read the lies from PA and nonsense from Andy M from last year this time.

The fact that you have no clue is in fact, reality!

It took a few post, but you are from this point, known as someone who loves losers! There's no other explanation!

Come on pete your a loser and nobody hates you.

Jim

I am sorry for my earlier posts. I have been up for days walking the streets of Baltimore selling myself for money. My REAL plan is to buy the Orioles but I am broke from playing world or warcraft and eating hotpockets so i have to sell myself. It is a very tough job but I will get the hang of it. Again sorry Jimbo. Also I posted under the names Slugger, al and doug because I dont have any friends and I wanted to create as much fake outrage as possible.

Everyone,

You're combating one guy. It doesn't matter!

Jim66, you're entitled to your opinion You obviously have good intentions.

The rest of you.....you're ganging up on the few remaining who accept what's happening on the field.

In the meantime, John Angelos is in NY, at the Yank/Sox game. A fact anyone in the baltimore media could confirm if they had the xxlls to print such.

And no.....sorry Jim, he's not scouting for a possible move in the offseason. He loves it in NY and has become a frequent visitor of the night scene.

So, as the Orioles are in the midst of yet another full season collapse, the owners son (who calls most of the financial shots), is partying in Yankee stadium.

Since this blog is of the Baltimore Sun, it would be great if someone did some actual reporting as to what's really happening to the team that was once beloved by so many.

In any event, guys......ease up on guys like Jim. It just doesn't matter!

AAGGHHHHHH LOUD NOISES!!!

GUYS!!! Andy Macphail is an alien from Mars sent to destroy the world using the Baltimore Orioles. Yes its true DTMAN just got the Intel out of the warehouse.. I hope he makes it out of there alive to post move negative comments on this blog…. Our struggle depends on his survival..

I hope Dave Trembley comes back next season and we don’t get any big free agents just to see what all the so called fans do. Comedy gold baby!

hey Jim! I am not finished you yet buddy! Not by a long shot!!

L's are L's are L's are L's are L's.......L's are L's are L's are L's are L's.......L's are L's are L's are L's are L's.......L's are L's are L's are L's are L's.......L's are L's are L's are L's are L's.......L's are L's are L's are L's are L's.......

You see Jim! You see what happens!!!!

L's are L's are L's are L's are L's.......

OH YEAH JIM! ONE MORE THING JO!!!

L's are L's are L's are L's are L's.......

Petey,
Calm way down dude bro. Don't stroke out on me. I don't need one of those crazy lawsuits where a blogger does some damage to himself because he freaks out every time someone replies to his crazed blog-rant.
It's not like I'm questioning your intelligence. Asking you directly about it would spoil all of the fun.You have provided ample opportunity for me to make that determination without any real input from you on the subject.

And the last thing the Orioles need is a lawsuit from some blogger who strokes out after posting some reply to a blog post.

The reality in my post is from a quote in the last Slugger post. If you folks had done what I asked and got together and posted just one reply, you would not be confusing each other like this. And then spending your energy replying to a statement made by someone else.
To make things easier, I won't put quotes from Sluggo in my posts any longer. I'll keep it as simple as I can.
Unless the quote really deserves to be quoted. Then all bets are off. And you're on your own.Unless you decide to post as a group, which is what I asked in the first place. See,what goes around comes around.

In closing, you may not like what I say. But be fair,I don't sound stupid.

Kind regards,
Jim

Wayne,
It sounds like you need to go have a defining moment :)

Doug,
I believe you have said more than enough on the subject of losing.
Especially to me.It's bordering on abuse of the letter L, but we can leave that determination to the authorities. They know how to handle cases like that. Especially the current administration, but we needn't discuss politics and national security issues regarding the alphabet here tonight.
It's complicated, involved, and right now undergoing vigorous debate. Much like the Orioles, but way more important.
Anyway, If I ever see the letter L again it will be too soon. Perhaps we can try this.
From now on, the letter L will be represented by one seven followed up quickly by another. 77 is now L.
So now, I don't have to see 77 anytime soon.
Thanks for your he77p on this.
Good 77uck.

LLLL LLLL LL LLL LLL LLL L. LLLLL LL LLLL LLL LLL L LL. LLLLLLL LLLLL LLL L LLL LL LLLLL.

i don't know Wayne.
Rumours continue to fly about JA meeting with Beyonce, Randy Newman,
the Hudson Brothers, the Williams Sisters, the Dionne Quintuplets,
and the estates of several dead celebrities about bringing the O's up to NY.
They'll be playing at TNOPATOYS(The New Oriole Park At The Old Yankee Stadium, to be known as 'The Toy') starting in 2013.

Hey, just reporting what I'm hearing. Remember, you heard it here first.

LISTEN TO WAYNE PEOPLE!!! NEW YORKERS ARE TROUBLE AND IF PEOPLE FROM MARYLAND TALK TO PEOPLE FROM NEW YORK THEY CANNOT BE TRUSTED!!!!

Everyone is putting on quite a show, I just stopped laughing.

Lesson on how to use your bullpen from of all people Trey Hillman: Follow up 7 innings from your best pitcher with 2 innings from your 2nd best pitcher. No roles, no matchups, no excuses needed. Just win today, then worry about tomorrow.

To try to end the war on this blog, how about 2 questions?

1) What will the O's final win total be?

2) MVO?

I think the O's will win one more game against the Jays and finish with 61.

I am going with Markakis. He's been in a funk, but he should win a gold glove this year plus Travis Henry had more protection than Nick has. Certainly no clear cut choice like last year when Huff was the off the charts.

Todd,

Really what does it matter what the record is at this point. It is not relevant. Too many good players shut down and injured.

MVO Bergessen

Jim66,

The sentiment of fans is a direct result of what's going on with the O's. It's hard to sit back and ignore what's going on.

Yes you need to support your team and I commend you for doing that. However, sometimes it's better to just to say nothing at all, rather than act as if everything is fine and put your blinders on.

It makes you sound the Iraqi Information Minister during the second Gulf war, who kept saying that the Iraqis were winning the war, while in the meantime the compound where he was giving press conferences was being shelled by our war-planes.

Let fans express their frustration. It's overdue. Is it productive? Yes, it sends a message to the warehouse, that they can't take us for granted anymore. And they're pockets have definitely been feeling it, believe that.

Slugger,

The fact is the season has been filled with more negativity than frustration. The guys in the Ivory Tower are not blind, dumb and stupid, they know they have a lot of work to do. I look to the bright side, and also hope that the inability of this franchise to have one .500 season will end next season. There have been plenty of other teams that have been able to do that.

Some of you guys need to take your personal attacks elsewhere, it is non productive, and really shows your maturity level. My 15 and 10 year old do not act that way, and they look to a great future with guys like Markakis, Jones, Roberts, Reimold, Bergesen, Matusz, Wieters, Tillman, Scott and they think the Orioles have something in Aubrey.

Bullying people on line is chicken crap. Statements like "I am not done with you" is attacking and unacceptable and if that is what you like go to one of the Yankee blogs they would love you there.

I didn't have a chance to sign on to the blog this weekend and I am glad for that. The vitriol and downright nastiness displayed by some of the posters went way over the top. I hope we can avoid those type of exchanges going forward.

Whether you believe that the Orioles are a bad team in chaos with a very poor near term outlook {which I do} or a team that may be headed in the right direction {which I do not, yet} we should attempt to compose ourselves in a professional fashion and state the reasons for our positions in civil fashion.

I have never seen anything like it on this blog.

I'm sure we will hear from Pete about some of the terrible things that were said on this blog.

Sluggo,
Even for you , that last post was over the top.I mean, c'mon now, comparing my posts to the Iraqui Information Minister?

At the end of the day it's sports and entertainment. No one is gonna live or die because the Baltimore Orioles do or don't do something . And much to your chagrin, you have absolutely no control over what they do or don't do. None.

As I asked you many times before, instead of posting these generic rants against everything Oriole, lay out your plan to make it better. If it's get rid of the owner and the GM, I guess the discussion stops, because you and I both know that is not happening.

'However, sometimes it's better to just to say nothing at all, rather than act as if everything is fine and put your blinders on.'

Or better yet, change the word 'fine' to 'horrible' and heed your own advice.

About Peter Schmuck
Peter Schmuck wants you to know that, contrary to popular belief, he is more than just a bon vivant, raconteur and collector of blousy flowered shirts. He is a semi-respected journalist who has covered virtually every sport -- except luge, of course – and tackled issues that transcend the mere games people play. If that isn’t enough to qualify him to provide witty, wide-ranging commentary on the sports world ... and the rest of the world, for that matter ... he is an avid reader of history, biography and the classics, as well as a charming blowhard who pops off on both sports and politics on WBAL Radio. That means you can expect a little of everything in The Schmuck Stops Here, but the major focus will be keeping you up to the minute on Baltimore’s major sports teams and themes, whether it’s throwing up the Orioles lineup the minute it’s announced or updating you on the latest sprained ankle in Owings Mills. Oh, and by the way, that’s Mr. Schmuck to you.
