Tillman hangs tough
Chris Tillman could have wilted in the first inning, especially after Vladimir Guerrero hit his one-hop curveball for a bloop single that set the wheels in motion for the Angels' two-run first inning, but the O's propped him up with their big rally in the bottom of the inning and he settled in to pitch 6 2/3 innings.
The outing was similar to his last start in Toronto, when he went 6 2/3 innings and gave up two runs on four hits. This time, he left with just three Angels runs on the board, but was charged with another run when Matt Albers allowed a couple of two-out hits before getting out of the inning.

Chris Tillman was very good tonight. Felix PIe was Fantastic... Hitting for the Cycle.
So far, a very good night of Baltimore Oriole Baseball

Maybe this will get people off Tillman's back. For god's sake, he hasn't pitched that bad and he's 21 with just a few starts under his belt...don't you think the criticism is unwarranted Pete?

Pete's reply: Well, he didn't do a whole lot when he was a starter, but he had a target on him because he was one of the lesser players acquired after the O's didn't get Tex.

Today was a flash of how good these guys are when they try. Tomorrow we'll be back to the same half assed bs from these guys.

Nice job by Tillman tonight, one of his pitches wasn't working and he still held on to get the win.
I love how he isn't rattled by anything. Grats on his first MLB win.
Go O's!

Does anyone else get the impression that Tillman seems like a guy who could really step up and be a leader on the pitching staff in another year or two? He just seems to have the right kind of personality, a bit in-your-face and intense, but tempered just enough.
I just get that impression, watching how he handles himself on the mound and in post-game interviews talking to reporters. He and Jones could be a nice 1-2 tag team to keep everyone focused and fire up the clubhouse.
