After 5 innings we have one hit. We have faced Romero twice this year (both in Baltimore). We won both games, though he got a no decision on one of them.

In 13 1/3 innings, the Os had 18 hits, 8 runs all earned, with 3 home runs. So, one hit in 5 innings is the Law of Averages at work Pete?

Did we ever get a player for Bradford last year? I don't think so...

Schmuck your reverse lock theory seems to have gotten new life! Berken has been working it since the 2nd. I was ready to turn it off after that thinking it would be more of the same, but good for him for keeping a cool head and not cracking under the immense pressure that 9 straight losses and a looming send-down can cause.

So if, as an Orioles fan, real life baseball isn't frustrating enough, I have Markakis in Fantasy and had the call on a single (double?) reversed to an error, losing some batting average along with the two RBIs that came along with it.

Oh well, some days you get the bear and some days the bear gets you, but I'm really getting sick and tired of constantly following directly behind that bear maybe a half hour after he's completely done eating.

Pete's reply: You got one of the RBI.

good news Fang, the scoring was changed after the game, Nick gets credit for a hit and 2 ribbies.

Cool. Thanks, Dave.

For the record, Fantasy or no Fantasy, it was a legitimate hit. Markakis roped it big time and there was no way Overbay could have reasonably been able to snag it.

Peter, you still leaking at both ends? I can see you on your couch trying to watch the Orioles game with an adult diaper on your head. ;-)

Pete's reply: No, I'm much improved, but thanks for asking, even if your post was a little too descriptive. It was a leg injury, so there was no leakage.

Whoever it may concern,

While it seems that most everyone has had some of the Warehouse Kool Aid and by the poll taken last month 73% feel DT is doing a good job, I continue to cringe as I watch his line-ups, his handling of the pitching staff, his obsession with the run and hit and the excuses, oh and should I say another season ending drought!

With all the YOUTH on this team right now, young guys shouldn't be tired and they should be thankful to have reached the big show and at least appear to be overachievers, but that may take a little motivation, the manager raising his voice in lieu of backing down to an over the hill thirdbaseman!

This team needs new on-field leadership! The next manager needs to select his own staff and be capable of leading this team to the next level up, not the next level lower.

Otherwise just continue with the complacency in the Charm City!

About Peter Schmuck
Peter Schmuck wants you to know that, contrary to popular belief, he is more than just a bon vivant, raconteur and collector of blousy flowered shirts. He is a semi-respected journalist who has covered virtually every sport -- except luge, of course – and tackled issues that transcend the mere games people play. If that isn’t enough to qualify him to provide witty, wide-ranging commentary on the sports world ... and the rest of the world, for that matter ... he is an avid reader of history, biography and the classics, as well as a charming blowhard who pops off on both sports and politics on WBAL Radio. That means you can expect a little of everything in The Schmuck Stops Here, but the major focus will be keeping you up to the minute on Baltimore’s major sports teams and themes, whether it’s throwing up the Orioles lineup the minute it’s announced or updating you on the latest sprained ankle in Owings Mills. Oh, and by the way, that’s Mr. Schmuck to you.
