My friend Chris from Hawaii was one of the first posters to take issue with the notion that I look like Burn Notice star Bruce Campbell:
Chris's take: I've met Bruce Campbell. I've talked with Bruce Campbell. I've been genially ribbed by Bruce Campbell. You sir, are no Bruce Campbell. Though I still think you're a stand up chap.
Of course, I've never met you in person Pete, so how would I really know? There is the slight chance that you look nothing like your picture and everything like a picture of Bruce Campbell.
PS - Has anyone ever told you that you look like 80's glam metal lady killer and Tiger Beat appearance maker Kip Winger?
Pete's reply: Funny you should mention that. I've heard that a lot over the years. I've included a photo of Kip here so everyone can see why I was such a chick magnet back in the day.

I don't know, I keep seeing Karl Rove with sun glasses.

Pete's reply: Good call. I've secretly been pulling the strings for the past eight years. How do you think it went?

Pete,
Even if I take off my glasses, I don't see a resemblance.
Off topic - Oakland just traded Matt Holliday to St Louis. Did they come out ahead (Brett Wallace, a slugging Triple-A third baseman, pitcher Clayton Mortensen and outfielder Shane Peterson) of what they gave up (closer Huston Street, outfielder Carlos Gonzalez and Triple-A pitcher Greg Smith) to Colorado to get him in the first place?
By the way, all the named players except Holliday were gotten from the Denver Post.

Pete's reply: That's a fair question. I really don't know, but I have faith in Billy Beane, though the Orioles would probably like to rebuild in that division instead of this one.

Everyone (from earlier today) that is worried that the O's can never compete for 1st in the AL East needs to take a deep breath and count to 10.
There is a history of 25 years of Oriole contention & dominance in that division.
The argument that these years were pre-free agency does not hold water. Balto was the best team in MLB in 1997. But for some unfair/unlucky breaks, we would have gotten to & won the world series.
MacPhail is following a road map that will take us back to Oriole's Way.
Last year we thought the O's were 5 years away from having a major league shortstop. They'll find someone to cover the corners & in the meantime the pitching will continue to improve. I can see a dot of light up ahead...

for all our baserunning woes, is that the 4th time in a week or so that the opposing team threw it into CF on a stolen base attempt?
