Reimold Rookie of the Month
Congratulations to Orioles left fielder Nolan Reimold for being named Gillette American League Rookie of the Month for June, a month in which he batted .320 with four home runs, nine RBI, 13 runs and 13 walks. He also impressed with a .520 slugging percentage and a .420 on-base percentage.
Despite his delayed arrival in the majors this season, Reimold is considered a top early candidate for AL Rookie of the Year honors, and might be going head-to-head with teammate Brad Bergesen, who also joined the team after Opening Day.
If you want an early favorite for next month's rookie award, Bergesen might be a good bet, since he opened the month on Wednesday with that impressive eight-inning, four-hit performance against the Red Sox.

Congrats to the Reimeister.
I'm probably missing someone(s), but other than possibly Price and Porcello (sp), right now it looks to be Reimold versus Bergesen for ROY.
Hopefully the league won't stiff either of them the way they did Rodrigo Lopez for Eric Hinske the year RoLo won fourteen games.

Congrats Nolan on your award ! I am proud of Nolan and Bergy making impressive rookie debuts . This does takes some sting out of O's slow first half season .
Tom- Are you the one who thought Seattle is winner of Bedard trade ? Did you know that not only Bedard landed on DL this year and last season , but he will be a free agent this Novemeber ? If Bedard leaves , will you still think Seattle is winner of this trade?

Fang Guy, take a quick look at Oakland's bullpen and you might see another contender.

Nice, really nice seeing the future successfully developing right before our eyes! Nolan and Bergy both seem mature beyond their years!

Congrats to Nolan. He's definitely in the mix for AL ROY but he's got stiff competition from Ricky Romero, Andrew Bailey, and Brad Bergesen. Since voters seem to favor hitters he's got a pretty good shot, especially if he keeps hitting home runs. Voters love home runs.

Congrats to Reimold--but didn't Bergesen's performance end in a loss?
(even though he did took a No Decision)

Pete's reply: Yes, they lost, but that doesn't show up in his statistical line. He's off to a great start this month.

Pete - Nolan does one thing that the vets should take notice of ..... he runs EVERY ground ball out .

Pete's reply: I agree. I'm very impressed with him, as are the visiting scouts.

Congrats to Nolan. Hey Pete any word if or when Wieters is gonna switch to #32?
.............................................................................................
Pete's reply: I haven't heard, but would assume he will at some point. It's possible they've already ordered 10,000 T-Shirts with 15 on them for some upcoming Tuesday, which would cause them to wait to do that.

Ricky Romero for Toronto has similar numbers to Bergesen so he should also be in contention.

Totally unrelated but WOAH! Did anyone just see that interview with rafael palmeiro on ESPN?? Gotta love the utilizing of the Roger Clemens defense! Way to latch on to Manny to get back in the spotlight hahah he also looked a little bit like Bruce Campbell from evil dead.

Pete's reply: I didn't see it. I'll go see if I can find the video.

I expect the O's to collect a few more "Rookie of ..." honors in the next few months and next year as we work our way back into contender status.
Lots of fun this year and it's only going to get better!!

I like Reimold's power, but I LOVE his patience at the plate. His on base percentage (.358) is higher than Roberts's. And Nolan's defense is improving. The award would be nice, but regardless, this guy has seemingly come out of nowhere to fill a big hole in the O's lineup.
