Adam's All-Star RBI

It's starting to look like Adam Jones will have a story to tell when he gets back from St. Louis and rejoins his teammates. He's now sitting on the game-winning RBI after his sacrifice fly drove in Curtis Granderson with the go-ahead run in the eighth inning. The National League gets to bat two more times, so there's no guarantee it holds up, but it would be a nice thing for Adam and the Orioles to have that kind of impact on the Midseason Classic.

By the way, what's up with Adam's new earrings? Could this be his answer to Aubrey Huff's new porn 'stache?

Jones had two very good at-bats in the All-Star Game. He hit both balls very hard and both went to the track to the opposite field. I sure hope Markakis gets to the All-Star Game at some point. Would be great to see both of them there at once.

game over. Rivera will be in for the 9th...

Adam Jones, In my opinion, was the MVP of the 2009 All Star Game. He put the American League ahead. A game saving catch is secondary to a winning RBI. Carl Crawford is a great player, but he did not deserve the MVP Award. Adam Jones deserved the MVP award

........ "Adam Jones! Adam Jones! He's a clown! That Adam Jones! He's gonna get caught, just you wait and see... Why's everybody always picking on me ???.........

Jones got Jobbed for the MVP. Crawford catch was nice, but any OF that was there at the fence would of caught it, What did he jump a foot off the ground?????

As much as I love AJ, I think it's tough to make the argument that the MVP should go to a guy w/out a hit. CC also got a single that turned into the tying run when Jeter scored (both Ichiro and Jeter hit into fielder's choices following the CC single, then Jeter scored on the Joe Mauer 2B).

To be fair though, I think Mauer should have gotten it for his game tying RBI double or, even better, Curtis Granderson for his 3B and run scored which set up AJ for the game winning RBI.

Either way, it still nice that Jonesey gets to come back and say he won the all star game!

No matter who won the MVP, Mr. Jones deserved to be an All Star and he showed the world why.

He made our new away uniform look great, and represented Baltimore well.

With Sherrill, Miggy, of course CAL, and now AJ, the O's have made me proud in All Star games over the years.

I had a gut feeling that Adam Jones was going to represent Baltimore well in last nights All Star game. Like several other comments that are posted the MVP award should have gone to Adam Jones. In addition to knocking in the winning run he also made three defensive catches in right field that kept the American League in the game.

Seriously, what is with everyone all of a sudden noticing the earrings? He's been wearing them all year! Just not normally during games, as it's not a very smart idea to do that. Seriously, let it go. It's not something new!

On another note, Adam should have won MVP. Stupid unwritten "Baltimore wins nothing" rule. Someone could hit a game winning grand slam and still wouldn't get the MVP award. Dumb.

Man, I thought both of Adams hits were going out, both were hit extremely hard. I am so proud of Adam and I hope everyone notices that the Orioles are a young, talented ball club. I do think that if Adam Jones were a NY Yankee he would have been the All Star MVP, same goes for Sherill last year pitching 3-4 shutout innings in extras . Just like anything else (bad calls by umpires) its who you are and what team you play for. I bet anyone that if Jeter got that sac fly like Jones did he would have been the MVP hands down. Just my two cents...I am fed up with the terrible calls by umpires too if you didn't notice. Love the blog Peter and keep up the good work, P.S. Raise with Aces (AA)!!

Better yet! What is up with Schmuck's big gut and ugly hairtdo?

Pete's reply: John, no one is fooled by your name changes, but I'm leaving this post up because you asked a couple of fair questions for a change.

Adam always wears earrings. He just isn't allowed to per Orioles & MLB rules during actual games that count. Kind of like how players in the ASG get to wear shoes that are not their team's designated color.

What's up with Schmuck's new onion rings - oh, never mind, he's already woofed them down!

............................................................................................
Pete's reply: Mmmmmmm. Onion rings.

I thought sure AJ was at least going to be the MVP or at least in the running for it. He wasn't even mentioned on the "Yankees Channel" (ESPN). Great job nevertheless by Adam. And speaking of ESPN, last night they just had to do some more Yankee brown nosing! Can there be a MLB event to where they don't interview a Yankee??
Geesh ESPN, get off of the n-u-t's already!!

Adam Jones bringing in the winning run with a home run probably would have been a lock on him winning MVP. I think it would have been appropriate for him to have been asked, "How does it feel to bring in the winning run in your first All-Star game?"

Note to all of the experts who don't want to see every team represented in the All-Star Game based on their own criteria of who should be there: I tuned in to see the game but was more interested in it because I got to see Adam Jones. I don't think every player should necessarily play, but every team should be represented.

He had a great at-bat, fighting off fastballs (I was waiting for the guy to throw something off-speed), to get that sac fly. If he had gotten a hit, he would have been MVP.

Nice job, Adam! But contrary to what some locals believe, that was not an MVP-worthy performance. If he'd hit a HR instead of a sac fly then maybe he'd get it, as Barry said. But without Granderson going all out (and the LF misplaying the ball) to get to third, then AJ's AB would have been just another long out. You can't get an MVP off of a sac fly unless there is absolutely nothing else worthy, or there is enough else to go with it.
