Peter Schmuck wants you to know that, contrary to popular belief, he is more than just a bon vivant, raconteur and collector of blousy flowered shirts. He is a semi-respected journalist who has covered virtually every sport -- except luge, of course – and tackled issues that transcend the mere games people play. If that isn’t enough to qualify him to provide witty, wide-ranging commentary on the sports world ... and the rest of the world, for that matter ... he is an avid reader of history, biography and the classics, as well as a charming blowhard who pops off on both sports and politics on WBAL Radio. That means you can expect a little of everything in
The Schmuck Stops Here, but the major focus will be keeping you up to the minute on Baltimore’s major sports teams and themes, whether it’s throwing up the Orioles lineup the minute it’s announced or updating you on the latest sprained ankle in Owings Mills. Oh, and by the way, that’s Mr. Schmuck to you.

The Braves must be licking their chops!

They need to fire the skipper - he stinks. How do you not play Reimold every day - he's one of the O's best hitters right now and should be out there every darn day.
Also, why are we wasting time with Mora, Huff, etc - get them out of here already.

Why is Salazar in the majors? Wiggington already fills the backup 1B/3B/OF/INF role. We should have a real backup SS with Izturis out.

Why no Reimold, Pete?

Pete's reply: Just stacking left-handers against Hanson.

why, why why...must Dave sit Reinhold . So Salazar needs time??? Don't the O's need wins and isn't Nolan one of the hottest hitters now? Why not sit his favorite Mora and let Huff play 3rd and Scott DH. Oh well it may have already cost us a few runs in the first inning.

Pete,
The bats are dormant, why isn't Dave bunting with Mora or Andino with no outs? They are getting very boring to watch and Dave needs to inject some opportunities. We went from Hit and Running without success, to stealing with little success, why no bunts. This is a small ball team when not hitting!

I believe a search for a new third baseman should begin immediately if not sooner. If getting the young guys up here is going to be a second-half priority, then they need to get a move on.
Let's get the trades in the works, guys slotted in the minors, and some bodies up to Baltimore. The season is in the toilet, has been for some time. Absolutely no reason to stick with some of these guys. They're bad, and now boring.

I mean this is just getting sick to watch. Bases juiced and Jones K's. I mean for christ sake when will this trash end. I'm sick of it. Earn your freakin paychecks!

re Dave's meeting...perhaps it would help if Dave were meeting with better players.

I wish I could comment now but I'm on my way to Vegas to bet everything I have on the Braves on Sunday. C'mon, Lowe pitching against the Orioles on a Sunday in a series finale?!! Money in the bank.

I am equally sick and disgusted with this play. And I am disgusted with the way every one of our pitchers stink. Have we already burnt out the bullpen? And ir 3-4-5 hitters go listlessly into the night in the seventh. Then Hendrickson gives one up to the number nine hitter! Does this meen we are surrendering? Might as well.

Sad game again. I guess the guys are going to pack it in early this season. We could be looking at 100 loses or more. That should land us a high draft pick.
I just hope the young guys at least keep focused on improving. After all, that is what really matters. The young guys have to learn and live up to potential and things might be better in a few years.
