Ravens interested in Marshall

brandonmarshallgetty.jpgStopped by the Ravens facility today for the media portion of the team's rookie camp, which runs through Wednesday and is the last OTA before the team opens training camp in Westminster in six weeks.

Got a chance to talk to coach John Harbaugh and offensive coordinator Cam Cameron about the receiver situation, and the reports that the Ravens might be interested in trading for troubled wideout Brandon Marshall (left). If you want to know more about that right now, check out Jamison Hensley's story here.

If you want to get my take on the overall receiver situation situation, check back in a little while and my latest column will be up on our newly redesigned Web site.

Let me understand this....team brass is interested in an indicted WR, coming off of hip surgery who has now decided he needs a new contract? PASS

Pass on this guy. He's got too many question marks and we do not need a hoodlum.

The new web page is AWFUL! Why does every web page now have to have so much stuff crammed onto it that it takes forever for the page to load and then you have trouble finding even the simplest thing? When I have trouble finding this blog, it's not a good thing. More is not necessarily better, at least not in this instance. "H" is for horrible.

Pete's reply: Sorry you don't like it. I thought it would be easier to get to the blog, since you just click on the Orioles and there's a drop-down for my blog.

Hey Pete-
I think the Ravens should seriously think about adding Marshall to the team. It isnt often you get a chance to get a 25 year old, 6ft 4inch, 230 lb receiver who has just started to enter his prime...
I understand some people wondering about his past, but this is the NFL, not the Vienna Boy's choir... If Ozzie feels as though our locker room could lead him down the right path, I'm all for it!
And as far as trading a first round pick goes.... I'd do it in a NY minute. #1 receivers are almost as hard to draft as franchise QBs are... Would u trade Travis Taylor or Mark Clayton for Marshall??? I rest my case....

About Peter Schmuck
Peter Schmuck wants you to know that, contrary to popular belief, he is more than just a bon vivant, raconteur and collector of blousy flowered shirts. He is a semi-respected journalist who has covered virtually every sport -- except luge, of course – and tackled issues that transcend the mere games people play. If that isn’t enough to qualify him to provide witty, wide-ranging commentary on the sports world ... and the rest of the world, for that matter ... he is an avid reader of history, biography and the classics, as well as a charming blowhard who pops off on both sports and politics on WBAL Radio. That means you can expect a little of everything in The Schmuck Stops Here, but the major focus will be keeping you up to the minute on Baltimore’s major sports teams and themes, whether it’s throwing up the Orioles lineup the minute it’s announced or updating you on the latest sprained ankle in Owings Mills. Oh, and by the way, that’s Mr. Schmuck to you.
