Playing safe with Jones

The Orioles lineup ended up looking like a Sunday lineup after all, but only because that foul ball that Adam Jones hit off his shin left a mark. Jones never likes to be out of the lineup, but today and offday tomorrow should allow the bruise to heal, so it's the right move. Felix Pie started in his place in center field.

Yea,

I'll take his hunch today haha.

I appreciated what Palmer just said about Weaver. He would throw the best lineup out there no matter. I really like Trembely as a person and I respect his baseball IQ. But I just have a different idea or philosophy then he does. OK OK Zaun just got a base hit . . . throwing my whole argument to the wind, but for the season I'd like to see Zaun and more Wieters.

The thing about Weaver's handling of the lineup was that he his starting 6 that was always the same and the other 3 spots in the lineup he used to platoon...Low/Roenicke/Ayala on sundays in LF, Kelly/Roenicke at DH, Dempsey/Nolan? at C so the 350-450 ab/yr players always had an idea when they'd be used. It may sound wierd, but the Os have a couple positions that are taken each week by someone who is marginal. You release Mora, and you have a 1b/3b/SDH/Lf situation where you can get Luke, Wigington, etc their 400 ab's, and they'd get on a schedule, making it easier to prepare...I know they should ALWAYS be ready, but seriously, T-Wigg is a professional hitter who will get his numbers if he plays more than once a week. I'm not anti-Mora, i just think at this point the Os should be getting more from the corner.

About Peter Schmuck
Peter Schmuck wants you to know that, contrary to popular belief, he is more than just a bon vivant, raconteur and collector of blousy flowered shirts. He is a semi-respected journalist who has covered virtually every sport -- except luge, of course – and tackled issues that transcend the mere games people play. If that isn’t enough to qualify him to provide witty, wide-ranging commentary on the sports world ... and the rest of the world, for that matter ... he is an avid reader of history, biography and the classics, as well as a charming blowhard who pops off on both sports and politics on WBAL Radio. That means you can expect a little of everything in The Schmuck Stops Here, but the major focus will be keeping you up to the minute on Baltimore’s major sports teams and themes, whether it’s throwing up the Orioles lineup the minute it’s announced or updating you on the latest sprained ankle in Owings Mills. Oh, and by the way, that’s Mr. Schmuck to you.
