More pregame Dave
Dave Trembley is hopeful that starting pitcher Rich Hill has better command of his pitches tonight when he faces the Red Sox in the second game of the three-game series at Camden Yards.
"The Red Sox showed last night how patient they are,'' Trembley said. "They won't chase the ball out of the strike zone."
The All-Star teams are going to be announced soon, so Dan Connolly asked Trembley for his thoughts on the potential Orioles candidates.
"I think Georgie (Sherrill), J.J. (Jim Johnson) and Adam (Jones),'' he said. "I think those three guys should get consideration, but I have not talked to Joe Maddon."
He acknowledged that Johnson is an unlikely choice because he is a setup reliever. Sherrill, however, has been very impressive since he made the mechanical adjustment that turned his season around.
"I'd like to get him out there a little more,'' Trembley said.

Pete,
Yes Georgie Sherrill, Jim Johnson and definately Adam Jones. But what about Nick Markakis. Even though he is having a tough June (July 1st is tomorrow) at the plate, he has one of the best in all of Baseball. Let's get Nick on the All Star Team.

Bill,
The All Star team is not the best players in baseball. In theory it is the players having the best years but in practice it is the most popular players. Nick is great but he does not deserve a spot ahead of other outfielders this season.
I say Sherrill goes and then we can trade him at his peak value.

Pete good article about the orioles miscues maybe costing dave t his job. It's good to see somebody finally bringing some accountability to where it belongs

Since, as you pointed out in your column, almost all of the running misjudgments are being made by the veterans on the team, do you think that they are pressing and trying to do too much and that if they played up to their capabilities that these mistakes would decrease dramatically?

Pete's reply: Not sure what to think. It's baffling to me.

OMG the sum of all fears... I hope Jones is okay

blancione,
I too liked the article Pete wrote today about Trembley but as everyone keeps pointing out where is Andy and the front office share of the blame? Dave Trembley isn’t totally responsible for this mess especially in regards to the starting pitching being in such disarray this was just a matter of time. We shouldn’t let Dave Trembley be the fall guy for a bad front office that has been doing this BS for over a decade.

nice start by hill...how does lugo go 2-2. and how and why do you walk the 9 man, bailey, just recalled from AAA?
Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

Please tell me that AJ was just ejected and not injured. I don't have MASN so I have no clue.
.............................................................................................
Pete's reply: Injured, but we don't think seriously.

Jones is out man but Pie legged out a trip and scored an RBI... he looked great

Jones hit the wall hard trying to rob Youkilis again.. dropped his glove on the other side and all it looked real bad.

markakis has decided to take the night off but forgot to tell the manager. Those were two putrid at bats against smoltz. Say what you will, but your best player better be better than him if you're gonna compete night in and night out. And I like him. But he flat out quit with a runner in scoring position in that second at bat. I don't care what you say.You expect that guy to have better at bats in those situations.
For his supposed talent, his numbers are rather pedestrian.
Just like for a team that's supposed to win only 70, they're pretty good.

Nobody in MLB could make sense of this pitching staff. If they fire Dave Trembley don’t be surprised if he says thanks.

Damn, I really hope that isn't a separated shoulder. I probably shouldn't speculate.

I hate to be critical of him because he's my favorite Orioles but Markakis is hitting .266 with 1 homer and 13 RBIs in his last 35 games. This from a player making $11 million? Not good enough. He needs to be a consistent run producer with occasional power or this team will never win.

Yeah Jim maybe DT calling out Pie pissed him off enough to do something. Maybe DT should call out all these other guys not playing the game.

I don't get it though, did Jones still play afterward? I'm checking on mlb.com's gameday, and it says he was still in the game in the second. And, Youkilis struck out his second at bat, so Jones still had to have that one at bat, too, after it happened.
.............................................................................................
Pete's reply: Yes, he did bat once after hitting the wall, and struck out.

Right now my favorite Oriole is Robert Andino. Don’t know if he is playing hard as an audition for a gig somewhere else but hes one of the few birds trying to make something happen.

WOW! Tek gets to call the pitches and if he gets hit by pitches… hahaha

Ok enough is enough.
Trembley has got to go. No clue.... No strategy, and can't settle on a lineup or defense. Carreer minor league mgr at best.
My suggestion... Get Keith Hernandez from Mets broadcast booth. The guy was like a manager when he played... Samrt and really knows the game.

Enuf Rich Hill for forever. He pitches with absolutely no confidence. None. He does not belong on a major league mound. The Orioles have to be in search of guys who can pitch against the good clubs and at least garner some respect.
Hill has nuthin.
And on the markakis thing. I'm not one for bashing the teams best player, but he has gotten to mailing it in some nights. Maybe he can explain that at bat with Pie on third after the game.
DT will get canned and like the ones before him, be better for it.

ugh.. I thought we would at least be competive against the RS and yanks this year.
This long sufferin O's fan (Fan since 69) can't take this humiliation...
Trembley is a horrible manager. We have not had a good mgr since Davey J. I'd be surprised if we win 60 games this year.
Is this moving in the right direction? Rich Hill... give me a break.
