Jones leaves

Adam Jones has been removed from the game after getting shaken up trying to go over the wall to get Kevin Youkilis's first-inning home run. He has been replaced by Felix Pie, but the only announcement from the club is that his removal was precautionary and he's day to day.

Lord, please let it be only day to day. We look terrible.

After I saw Trembley leave Baez in the other day to pitch 1/3rd of an inning and give up 5 runs and now tonight leaving Hill in for 3 1/3rd innings and giving up 7 runs there is no doubt any longer that Trembley doesn't have a clue. He should be fired. It's getting ridiculous.....sure the O's stink but they're far far worse with a manager that thinks baseball is golf and you win with the lowest score.

Oldetoys,

You think you could manage this team any better? I know I couldn’t.

It doesn't really matter how long Jones is out to me. I mean he really hasn't done anything to make people worry about a long absence here for like the past month. I mean in truth this whole team has been just down right pathetic. Markakis and Roberts have been so streaky that you wonder if their big contracts are a mistake. And pitching...I mean I can deal with it from the young guys although I still get irritated but I mean its about time for Rich to go and bring up another youngster. I mean if we are going to play this bad we might as well let the young ones get all the experience they can.

At this point, with the way Rich Hill is so streaky, it might be time to allow Arrieta, Matusz and Patton come up and learn on the job. Jon Lester was 23 when he came up. You foreworn them that it will not be easy and they will suffer through the lumps. Tell them to relax, have fun, don't worry about the record and learn on the job. It seems that the pitchers that are there now don't understand it. Aside from Berken and Bergeson the staff is not that great. Hendrickson is not good. Uehara is a middle man at best. And Hill is too hot and cold. Bringing up the young kids will bring back hope and interest from the fan base.

Cheers, lets go O's.

Trembley should be gone. The orioles need a manager and not a minor league instructor.

Franco Franco Franco...

DT is here to stay man!

About Peter Schmuck
Peter Schmuck wants you to know that, contrary to popular belief, he is more than just a bon vivant, raconteur and collector of blousy flowered shirts. He is a semi-respected journalist who has covered virtually every sport -- except luge, of course – and tackled issues that transcend the mere games people play. If that isn’t enough to qualify him to provide witty, wide-ranging commentary on the sports world ... and the rest of the world, for that matter ... he is an avid reader of history, biography and the classics, as well as a charming blowhard who pops off on both sports and politics on WBAL Radio. That means you can expect a little of everything in The Schmuck Stops Here, but the major focus will be keeping you up to the minute on Baltimore’s major sports teams and themes, whether it’s throwing up the Orioles lineup the minute it’s announced or updating you on the latest sprained ankle in Owings Mills. Oh, and by the way, that’s Mr. Schmuck to you.
