Guthrie gassed...gone
Jeremy Guthrie spun out of control in the first inning, but -- amazingly -- is in the dugout right now with a chance to get the win. He walked in two runs in the first, before working out of a bases-loaded, no-out jam, but ran his pitch count so high that Dave Trembley pulled him after the fifth inning.
Nolan Reimold's three-run homer in the fifth brought the Orioles from behind, prompting Trembley to yank Guthrie after 95 pitches. Don't know what went on in the dugout between innings, but it seemed like a pretty quick hook. Guthrie created the pitch-count problem and, in this case, I think he should have been left out there at least one more inning.
Brian Bass is just about to help me make that point.

Heck of a job by Albers, O's could really use a sweep this series.

Great job by Albers to clean up the bases loaded no out mess Bass left without giving up a run. He saved the day for the moment

People here talk--and rightly so--about Uehara's spot in the rotation. Why does no one say anything about Guthrie? Tonight he pitched to a 5.4 era, walked in two runs, and worked the bullpen for 4 innings. And sadly, that's been about his norm. The 'W' after his name tonight does not begin to tell the story. Personally, I'd call it a tossup whether to move him or Koji out of the rotation right now.

Where did you get the knowledge, talent and execution expertise to KNOW HOW TO EVALUATE any function of any sport activity. You are a clueless pencil scribe in the mode of JANICE ROME! Your stupidity is not a remark it is YOUR HEADSTONE.

Reimold = Rookie of the Year.

Have to agree with the comment left by Danny. To me, Guthrie is at best a number 4 or 5 starter on any other team. And if anyone knows about being clueless it's johnjames.

I love Trembley but I went to game earlier this year. A young O's fan stated Trembley is good for the team now, but isnt if they want to become a contender. He teaches young players and bring them together. They will need to replace him if they want to better there team..I thought about that for awhile and I come to agree.. think about it. When you see the Orioles play do they have a attitude, or have a way of playing? I think they just play ball and hope for a win..I'm not gonna give up on Trembley but he needs to develop a style of baseball to play and I dont see it..Do you?

Pete's reply: The kid is fairly astute. I think Dave was brought in as a caretaker manager to nurture the kids because of his great minor league experience. Whether he stays long-term or not depends, in my mind, on the Orioles developing an identity by the end of this year and finishing on an upswing.
